Gildarts isnt just the test examiner. He is the #1 strongest member of the fairy tail guild at that time. And he is the closest person to natsu we can say like father and son bond. Gildarts is inspiration to natsu.

Yeah that's why he had Gildarts as examiner, Natsu couldn't beat him no one could so he had to learn what defeat is. He used to always win so he started to be confident someone needed to teach him :p

yes but also, do you really think hades would be able to survive a 1v1 fight against Acnologia ? I don't think so but in fact, Gildarts did it. When you know that Zeref took him out in one shot ( i know hades was hurt at this time but even so) And Zeref consider Acnologia as stronger than himself. When you look in this way, it seems obvious that Gildarts is stronger

I think when Gildarts turned up his power, it was like Natsu was about to jump off a tiny ledge, only to realise he was actually jumping off a mountain ( I think this analogy works lol) but yeah, totally understand being completely terrified by Gildarts.
lmao these fights don't hit the same if you watch them randomly tbh. When this moment was built up during the show itself it was absolutely incredible and emotional
well they kinda changed the dialogue. and i think they also cut out the part where Natsu walks uip to gildarts and is forced to his knees. But going by the dialogue how they altered it it makes sense. The english dub (if that is the full english version of that fight and not a cut, if it´s a cut it´s a damn solid one) made it look like Natsu understood on his own, that he has no chance, that he accepted being overcome by fear. which is not what he did in the original. Natsu just collapses inches before Gildarts and just says maketa "i lost" because he was overcome by Gildarts power. Gildarts dialogue is quite similar to this one but in one key sentence different "i do not blame you for having the courage to stand up to me. But those with the courage to sheath a drawn sword are exaptionally rare. Fear is not evil Natsu. It tells us where our weaknesses are. Only those who know their weakness can become strnger as well as kinder" I assume they shortened the last part because they made Natsu realize it on their own.

Acnologia is an Arcane Dragon. Magic doesn't work on him, except the Dragon Slayer Magic. In the Final Arc, Natsu and the others defeated only his Human Form inside the Time rift, while they sealed his Dragon Form outside of it.
