This is the first time we see Natsu full on cry as a grown teen, rather than quick tear-ups here and there like in Erza's arc. Showing just how impactful Gildart's lesson was. Character development let's goo :]
Gildarts's lesson for Natsu is actually very simple: "Don't risk fighting the battle you can not win ! Know your limits, and live to fight another day!" Just that simple
It might seem so, but I got it a bit different: Know your limits now, you are not the strongest and the gap is huge. To fear and realise it a step towards greater strength. That way you told it would mean to give up if facing a stronger enemy, but thats not always an option.
My wording of his lesson to Natsu is “you must learn to accept defeat Natsu. But no matter what happens, don’t stop trying to be better. Because you have a lot of potential, more than you think.”
Gildarts just thought Natsu that even if you're extremely strong, you still have to acknowledge what is a fight you can or cannot win. You have to acknowledge your own weakness and find a way to overcome it. Cause even someone like Gildarts would back down and accept defeat against something he knows he can't win. Giving up wasn't always bad. Sometimes it's just wise to back down for a while and come back stronger.
Exactly The reason how gildarts came back alive from acnologia Do u think if he had natsu mindset he could have came back? This scene and speech is srsly one of the best in whole of fairy tail
What hurts worse is when you realize that natsu sees gildarts as a father figure. Gildarts filled the father position after igneel left in his own way and that’s why natsu looks up to him the way he does. As you saw in the flashbacks he never really gave him compliments or showed how proud of natsu he was (not that he wasn’t proud or that natsu didn’t know gildarts was proud of him, he just wasn’t outright with it) up until that very moment so while natsu was dealing with his own issues (feeling like he’s weak and will never compare to gildarts) and crying over that, he was also feeling that heart to heart emotion since the praise was coming from a father to him that he cared so much about and valued so highly. Knowing someone you hold such a high opinion of and love like a parent cares about you and is proud of you versus them actually telling you to your face in such a vulnerable moment is completely different and it just hits way harder. I love how in this arc you can really feel that parental bond through chosen family between not only the guild members, but especially natsu and gildarts because it just adds so much depth to both the story and the characters themselves. Idk this episode always makes me cry cuz it’s so good lol
10:25 The guy probably didn't realize that releasing so much strong will pull the real enemy to the island, so theoretically thanks to him we now have the best part in Fairy Tail.
erm... no. The later episodes are not caused by Gildarts. I would go into detail, but i dont want to spoiler it. But Gildarts actually affect suprisingly few events in Fairytail.

The fact that gildarts himself keeps Natsu in such high regards speaks volumes abt Natsu's potential ..well great reaction as always ,loved and enjoyed it !
Love that Neel actually complimented Lisanna. We all know she did not have the most threatening magic but considering she just went back from Edolas (A world where she cannot use magic at all) and in fact she’s Mira little sister, says that she at least can defend herself
Natsu's reaction also surprised me. I saw how he matured and accept defeat when it was necessary. Giving up is also important, we know that from Shikamaru. Amazing reaction as always! I love your channel so much
@@viper7823 now you've done it.. They think Gildarts looks terrifying when he gets serious? I can't wait to see their reaction to when Juvia scares even Erza 🤣
Take note that everything Natsu got from Guildart's lesson in this episode is what changed his character throughout this arc and pretty much the entire series. The questions of LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY Or FIGHT TO LIVE? were very prominent in this arc. And Natsu played a very important role in passing on that lesson to everyone.
Thank you! So many people say Natsu hasn't grown or took this lesson he learned in this arc to heart after this, but he has took on such a great leadership role. Not necessarily being the one everyone looks to but he gives everyone hope, he pushes on and motivates his comrades, and fights to protect his friends. He still has fear and knows when he's outmatched but when it's a life or death situation he gives it his everything to let everyone see another day.

We've never seen Natsu cry like this before since his reaction to sadness is usually anger, like when Simon died and he instantly went for beating the shit out of Jellal. The closest was Lisanna's death, but there Natsu was more just frozen in shock rather than crying. He probably cried after it set in, but we didn't see that on screen.
