My stock arachnids with summer tires rear tires wore to the metal wires within 10k miles and started losing air pressure. I still go with the Tesla T2 with insulating foam, I like to keep the stock performance.
Have you had a wheel alignment performed on your car? My first set of stock summer tires lasted 18k miles before the right rear tire wore through the cords, causing a leak. I failed to provide the context in this particular video, but I had my wheel alignment done with the car in low mode after having the original set of tires replaced and my tire wear has been more even. While the rear camber can't be adjusted, I think the rear and front toe on my car was off from the factory. The car was more stable at high speeds on wet surfaces after the alignment.
@@TheLifeofJoeLee I’m aware of alignment on low mode. I keep on medium though. When I went to Tesla service they didn’t support alignment in low and told me to go aftermarket shops. I live by unplugged performance, so I could get the adjustable camber arms to correct the negative camber but I guess I haven’t bothered.
Have you gotten a wheel alignment done on the car at the medium height setting? I had my alignment done while in low mode because I prefer driving my car in low mode. I recommend getting an performing an alignment in suspension height setting that the car spends the most time in.
Thanks! That would have been useful information in the video, lol. The tread depth when new was 10/32". I'll likely replace when the tread depth is between 3/32" and 2/32" (DOT's recommendation for minimum tread depth).
Hey Joe - will do the same setup thanks to your videos. Approx how many miles before the tire noise become annoying? I may go with Contis DW06+ for this sole reason. Thanks!
Yes, I had an alignment done after replacing the original tires at 18k miles. I think the car came with a bad alignment from the factory as the back of the car became much more stable on wet surfaces at high speed after the alignment. I think there was significant toe out in the rear when the car was delivered. Unfortunately, I could not get the before and after alignment specs as the service center said their printer was broken and they already cleared the data. I have not had another alignment performed since as the car has been driving fine and the tire wear seems pretty even.
As a daily commuter on my plaid I'm averaging 6,000 mi on my rear tires. I'm switching to the 19-in tires at this point, it's getting way too expensive.
Wow! That is a short tire change interval. Have you had a wheel alignment done? If so, what are the rear toe specs? My first set of tires lasted 18k miles and I thought that was a short life: One rear tire had wore through the cords so could no longer hold air and the inside shoulder of both front tires were bald. I had a wheel alignment done after replacing the original set of tires.
@@TheLifeofJoeLee Yes Tesla did a wheel alignment and I had them check everything out. It looks like on the forums the 19 inches is the best way to get away from this issue without modifying the car.

It’s because you didn’t get a proper alignment

Nice update. What was tread depth when new?

The tire noise became more noticeable around 25k miles. It looks like the Contis come in 285/35/20. That looks like a good option.
15k miles on my factory PS4s… even wear.
Wow long life.
Did you have any alignments done with these tires or even your OEM wheels at one point?
