Do you think the new Mustang GTD will break the 7 minute mark for its official Nürburgring lap time?!
It will run a deep 6 if their chasing GT2rs times. btw the GT3 cars use a 5.4-litre Coyote-based cross plane. So I'm sure the GTD will be cross plane as well.

I don’t even like myself talking, I just wanna watch a mustang GTD out in its natural habitat. This isn’t a zoo exhibit.
Looking at the video you can see the DRS system activate when accelerating out of the turns. As a mustang owner this makes me proud to see the brand pushing the legacy!
It doesn't have a DRS system
@@stevefowler2112 yes it does
@@AntsCarReviews I did not know that...i thought DRS stood for the electric battery capture/accelerant that F1 uses. i now see it stands for the dynamic variable wing
Drag Reduction System in F1
I was saying the same thing. I’m so proud to see this car evolve the ways it has. Just 10 years ago we were simple a drag car
According to an interview comparing the GTD and GT3 cars with a Ford engineer, the GTD rear wing has a DRS function that is not allowed on the racing GT3 version
Man that looks cool😮
Definitely a cross-plane crank like the 2020-2023 GT500. Ford just turned up the power to 800 hp, possibly a little more hp by the time they start production. Ford calibrators are still tweaking the ECU.
So excited to see the final numbers!
Its a cross plane sourced from the GT500
the initial car at takeoff had large rectangle exhaust tips, then the next rear shot the car has exhaust turndowns facing inward at 45 degrees, then the following shot, it has the turndowns facing straight down... so which is it?
Probably a compilation video of many separate test runs. They probably have a lot of different setups they are testing.
@@garyslentzii2796- Yeah, it's thrust vectoring like some fighter jets. 😜
Hold up everybody. This is a MULTIMATIC carbon fiber tub race car first and foremost, and has nothing but body work to represent the street car. There possibly might be a total of 500 cars worldwide because about 20 fabricators work in that factory. Whatever the time is, isnt representative of the last or current Mustang generation AT ALL. Ford pulled the MUTIMATIC trick with the last GT and its not actually a relevant to anything but exotics most people will never see in their entire lifetime unless you hang with Billionaires. Just ranting , but this IS NOT Fords future HIGH VOLUME production Mustang AT ALL.
Your post sounds sketchy. I know the rear suspension was reworked to make it, you know...a race car. The transaxle played a role as well.
@@billymania11 There is nothing on the car except bodywork that is to be replicated in the mass production line up from Ford guaranteed.
@@thiosemicarbizidebenzoylal2921not many production parts but still some. The engine is 70% stock parts, block included.
💯correct, it’s a bespoke race car with S650 like bodywork. It will end up being extremely rare just like the Ford GT, with only millionaires with an in at Ford qualifying to buy one, maybe someone will pull a John Cena and sell one against Ford’s wishes.
this is not a carbon tub race car its based on s650 real sheet metal hence the 4200lb weight.
why are the exhaust tips different on the car running the track then the one pulling out in some of the shots?
I saw another video where they confirmed there were two different GTD at the track......good observation 👍
@@Bruce.-Wayne I think it's the same car with a turn down tip, same license plate number.
So did this mustang start racing the GT series yet, as its designed for?
Well, crap no backseat. I got car seats to put in my car. I got twin girls that need to go in the car.😂👯♀️
Lol
Were the exhaust tips changed or two different GTD vehicles?
No
@@alvinbanks They are different. Bellows on the opening shot, they point down on the track shots.
@@averyhammonds9348I believe you are seeing the aero air deflectors on either side of the exhaust rips.
I appreciate the excitement but damn I wanna here the car
That window in the back looking into the the rear suspension is like Vincent Vega when he opens the briefcase in Pulp Fiction!
They need to give us a GTC version 😂
This horse doesn't prance around !!
Almost certainly cross. Time is likely in the 6:40's. Ford has openly said that they are benchmarking the GT2RS which was a 6:47. With a transaxle it won't be too light in the rear.
Not almost, it’s the same Predator engine from the GT500, just turned up a little.
They said they were bench marking the 2021 GT3 RS whose time is 6:49...the current Ring record holder is still the 2018 GT2 RS whose time was 6:43. As Ford hasn't released the time it tells me they definitely did not get into the 40's or possibly even sub 7 minute. When Porsche or Mercedes make an effort at the Ring to go for a PR they always publicize the time immediately...when GM took the vette to the ring they never did officially publish the time which tells me it wasn't sub 7 minute (a guy who grew up with V8 Mustangs, with my first car being a hand me down '66 Mustang with a 289 2 barrel and my last one being a 2000 Cobra R model), who now owns a Porsche 2018 GT2 RS.
@@stevefowler2112 Ford is a little secretive about “Ring” times for some reason, but so are a few exotic car makers, it does lead me to believe the cars in question didn’t perform as well as hoped or expected. As for Chevy and the C7 ZR1, they never got to get in a clean full lap and only managed an official 7.16.xx, Jim Mero claims it will go faster and put together a segmented lap time of 7.13.xx, still well above 7 flat. I have to believe the GTD is a good bit faster with its being essentially a race car, but it is still a front engine RWD, I think a sub 7 second ring time is going to be difficult with that setup without raising the power/straight line speed significantly, like 1100+ hp.
@@samholcombe3129 It's not easy to get a clean full lap at the Ring but somehow Porsche and Mercedes always seem to find a way. The reason manufacturers are "secretive" about their times is that they didn't make the sub 7 club...it ain't easy. As to your 1100 HP comment, the GT2 RS is '"only" 700 HP. and the GT3 RS is only 518 HP. The ring is mostly about suspension and braking and downforce.
@@stevefowler2112 Porsche hp is different somehow, even in random roll racing videos they beat cars with 100-200 more claimed whp
It sounds like a cross plan crank. And it should be a Shelby gt500 motor. Ford hadn't made a flat plane V8 since the GT350 too many warranty claims. I really wish they still would have made a naturally aspirated 5.2 but with a cross plane crank. The flat plane 5.2 certain RPM ranges. It would suck the oil out and stored the engine essentially which would kill it. I think it's been on TH-cam a few times. Adam LZ had that happen
i would think cross plane with 5.4 since thats gt3

Nice car but $325,000.
Just a shame that this is going to be the only petrol car ( the Mustang platform ) Ford is going to offer or concentrate on in the UK. Instead they give us EVs, that we don't want, and give them the names of great older Fords, like the Capri, Mustang Mac E, Puma.
All of them look like every other EV.

If only it was twin turbo
Is there a Tesla gt3 ???? 😂
sorry 325k plus tax for a mustang.. never
This car is really a mustang in basic shape only. It is really a GT3 race car built for the street. The technology used to create this vehicle left no stone unturned, so to treat it as if it were just a Mustang is not realistic.
Pretty sure is crossplane

Nurber"gring".
For that price it should have been twin turbo like the GT2 RS
Why?
It's supercharged
If I have to explain the advantages of a Turbo vs a SC on IC engines on a road course race car it would take a long time to get you up to speed but suffice it to say I can't think of a single race car/manufacturer that chose a SC over a Turbo when building their engines for a road course/oval engines. Be it F1, Indy, or the various GT car racing organizations. on top of that, the Top 4 previous and current 'Ring record holders have all been Twin Turbo engines.
@@stevefowler2112Wouldn't it be interesting if they set a record using a supercharger? That in itself would speak to their ability to innovate

But what you're not understanding is that this is no ordinary Mustang. This thing was made by Ford along with the folks that helped make the third-gen Ford GT which is an absolute monster. The GTD also is meant to compete with the GT3 RS, not the GT3 btw.

@@user-yb9jr3dt7y Clearly you don't realize that this isn't your average Mustang. The GTD is made by the folks at Multimatic, aka the guys that also built the third-gen Ford GT. Great video, but............Do it over when you lose your voice!! Damn, man.🤬
Well it better be faster than a Corvette!
Faster than a Stingray, yes. And MAYBE a tad faster than a Z06. But likely not faster than the forthcoming ZR-1 or the Zora. Also, keep in mind that the Z-06 currently starts at 1/3 the price of this new Mustang, and the ZR-1 will also be less expensive..... That said, the new Mustang is still very impressive and very exclusive.
Well ... if it is. It will be the first.
This mustang GTD Grand touring Dayton will an foremost be shocking you guys at La mem this time next year is the race you have not seen nothing yet I’m absolutely sure it’s gonna be first place
It better beat the Camaro... It's 3.5x the cost. Shouldn't even be considered a pony car
Yeah, this is like comparing the ZLE to a GT2RS, since that is what Ford used as a benchmark. Theoretically Chevy could do this too, but won’t because it’s not a C8 or EV. Dodge did their own thing with all the new versions of the Hellcat, Ford made GT350/350R, GT500 and now this, Chevy stopped with the ZLE, could have put the LT5 in a limited run ZL1, could have made a Z/28 with LT6 from C8Z, but like I said, the Camaro isn’t the C8 or an EV so they don’t care. The GTD is badass, but it’s not in the same class as any ZL1, performance or price. Good luck getting one in the first place, even better good luck getting it for the MSRP of $325k, dealer mark up will be more like $500k +
@@samholcombe3129
You won't find any GTD for sale at any dealership.
Camaro, the McRib of automobiles. They sell it then they don’t. Put it to bed for good Chevy.
Hats off to Ford for even making a car like this in an automobile world that has been forced to make milk toast EV’s. It would be absolutely insane for this new Mustang GTD to run sub 7’s at The Ring. The Chevy Camaro ZL1 best time at The Ring was 7:16 and that was 7 years ago with now aging technology. Still a stellar lap for that moment in time. And the Camaro ZL1 1LE package could be purchased for $60k at the time. Fast forward to this new Mustang GTD price tag of $325k plus is ridiculous 😳 What made the Camaro ZL1 so great, was the “bang for the buck” price where it’s literally destroyed far more expensive cars on the track. While I can appreciate Ford wanting to get into GT Racing, the price on the production car is in the upper elite category. It’s not a David and Goliath story. It’s a very rich man with money and no real loyalty to the Mustang brand who purchases this GTD.
At least it’s not over a half million dollars and not street legal like the new BMW M4 GT3 🤷♂️ but I totally agree
@@AntsCarReviews I miss the good old days of the Trans-Am race series of the late 1960’s where all the American automobiles competed against each other. Seeing the Mustang, Camaros , Firebird, Charger, Challenger, Cougar and even the AMC Javelin compete against each other in the V8 class was the best. All the cars were out of the factory builds with little modification. And the best thing is that they were affordable.

I’m not a Mustang fan but this is a sick car and if you justify this price in your head you’re part of the problem and they’ll keep raising these ridiculous prices-the whole point of Mopar,Corvette and Mustang is it is attainable to the average man if he tries and sacrifices enough. But this is getting insane-it’s a Mustang and i really don’t want to hear anymore because it’s you that is making a mustang he 325,000. The new ZR1 will probably be 250,000, Govt paid Stellantis to kill Mopar. See when you agree a mustang should be 325,000 then it will make lower models go up ridiculous too. Yes the car is fast and looks cool but that doesn’t mean Mustang then adds over 200,000 to the car-please tell me what is an extra 200,000 on here? We need these cars to sty reasonable so lower models don’t rise and also other makers don’t raise theirs even exotics. If Mustangs are selling for 325,000 then what do you think exotics will do? No cool cars will be touchable by the average guy and these are American cars made for American average men. If you can do the 325,000 it’s probably not a mustang you are buying. Then f-ing Ferrari just came out with a cool SUV they call FUV and it’s better than the URUS and they only made 1000 and they sold out in seconds. What is the point of doing that-it’s the best looking fast SUV i think and i want one and can’t get it and all they care about is if the second buyer has to pay more for it. Why do you want the first , 2nd ,3rd buyer have to pay a ton of money for your car and why don’t you want ppl to buy your car by only making 1000. So dumb. I saw a picture of a new GT500 coming out and it’s this Mustang but looked wider and had a giant scoop on it. Not sure if 2025 or 26 but it is sick looking but now that i see this price what is that going to be? I’m not even a mustang fan and now they’re making some cool mustangs and they are insane priced. We need to stop paying it. So glad i bought a TRX,Charger Hellcat and Durango Hellcat when i did so i can just hang in these until some cool cars come and they drop in half in price. These cars can’t sell for this and just keep climbing every year it’s impossible but that’s the govts p,an -make them untouchable so you buy a 30,000 electric car but then they’ll raise insurance so high you won’t want a car and at the exact time they’ll have electric self driving cars you can call to pick you up and the govt won’t and you do t own a car and have freedom to get on your horsepower and be free and have privacy. We better stop agreeing to everything because Dems don’t want to win 2024-they want to win 2028 to implement agenda 2030 and Trump says nothing about stopping it. It’s been the plan for 50yrs. He make you a gun law and lock you down tho.
