The reason why Thailand is inherently vulnerable to coups, by the way, is because Bangkok is an extreme example of what's termed a "primate city", a city that holds significant portion of country's population and absolute majority of its wealth and institutions with no other city in the country coming even close in terms of population or significance. That means that, in order to coup Thailand, all you need to do is take over Bangkok and you have the country because of how heavily centralized it is. France is another example of similar phenomena, that's why revolutions in France have always come from and have only cared about taking and holding Paris.

@@chinguunerdenebadrakh7022 In Taiwan's case that's true, but in South Korea's, it's not quite that simple. South Korea had multiple uprisings and mass demonstrations (the Ba-Mu Student Uprising, the Gwangju Uprising, and the eventual June Democratic Struggle), that weakened and eventually, after huge amounts of effort and no small amount of bloodshed, forced the military from power. The Korean military certainly didn't fight as hard as it could have against the JDS, partially because Chun seems to have been legitimately scared that a crackdown could escalate to a massacre (Adesnik & Kim, 2008) but they never would have surrendered power if not backed into a corner where the only choices were either surrender or seriously risk unfathomable brutality in front of the entire world.

In Thailand, prior to Pita, there was a former conservative Prime Minister named Thaksin who faced a coup, along with his sister who later became an MP.
The royalists strongly dislike anything associated with or mentioned about Thaksin. However, it is important to note that the Future Forward Party (now known as the Move Forward Party) was formed due to disillusionment with the Thaksin versus royalist conflict. It is indeed alarming to witness the amount of hatred Pita receives, especially considering that he has not officially become an PM yet.

As I am a Thai person At the election this year, I chose Prayut Chan-o-cha. Why did I choose him? Because since he was Prime Minister, Thailand has developed many infrastructures and promoted a sustainable economy both in the EEC and in the double-track railways across the country. There is a reserve fund ranked 11th in the world. What the heck is Thailand now? People who regard themselves as democratic but persecute others who differ from themselves. that is not democracy There is now news of a meeting in Paris on intervening in the overthrow of Thailand's regime, and the group has foreign support. And now Thailand's security department is watching. And let me tell you another thing, in the year 2014, the coup took place because the previous government had cheated and caused the country to owe more than 1 million Thai baht from the rice pledging scheme and off-budget loans, making it difficult to audit. And millions of Thais protested that year to oust the government.

Coup without sin is also call corruption. Sustainable or not I think we can look to plastic waste in Thailand from food industry and infrastructure like road is not gonna benefit to the whole country without good public transport that come in / on time.
I’m Thai who have different though and never try to shut someone mouth with law 112. We all know that we need to took responsible for what we did and give an opinion or contribution to work together. But prayuth don’t take responsibility for what he did.
I’m environmentalist, I can guarantee you that our country is far from sustainability now. If you using the electricity in everyday life or using a car. Mainly of it source in Thailand still come from fossil fuel. Which I tried to speak up but it won’t reach his government for 8-9 years.

Article 112 is an excuse. It's the best excuse they can use to justify their rejection. The real reasons are the fact that they will demonopolize many industry, for example alcohol industry that only have 7 big players and the law make it difficult to make alcohol company to compete with them. Or the fact that the majority of electricity of the country is made by one company and the over produced electricity whic means overpriced electric bills for everyone. Another big policy they suggested is decentralized Bangkok and give more power to the rural area along with defunding the military. All of these means the direct attack on the powerful. These are the real reasons not 112.

Thailand won't end up like Myanmar because of tourism. 65.7% of the economy. While Myanmar had almost no tourists. Families don't usually fight when there are guests over. We need to keep the country welcoming to tourists.
Actually in the past, most of the destruction came from the protesters themselves, burning malls and government buildings, occupying all the airports, and blocking the main roads.

Democracy should consider a strict age limit for "leaders" or at the very worst a limit to how much "leaders" can legally resist popular support for change of their respective constitutions.
If these men and women are inspired by the nostalgia of their past, they can dream on while looking at the sun set on a beach but don't bring your individualistic romance with your fond memories in life to the entire state! Change happens! It will happen with or without you! It's life! What do you gain from this:
"In my lifetime, when I was a lawmaker, I made sure insulting a fellow human being [who daydreams that their blood is somehow blue in colour] was a crime with up to 15 years in prison.... But then I died and the whole thing went to shit and unfortunately, those people were killed and the 'royal family' ended".
It's degenerate to think that you, a lowly mortal homosapien in your short small insignificant life on earth will fight for laws that will last multiple lifetimes. It doesn't happen that way. Life is a timeline of change. When the circumstances of life [i.e. change] force changes in law, guess what, your dead decayed body cannot come and fight for the law to remain unchanged.
