I’m an advocate of slapping PPF on those after cleaning them up. That way they stay nice a LOT longer. I did mine on my personal car & they’ve looked immaculate for over a year now. Thanks for the tutorial!
Great video, thank you. How about a tutorial on how to accomplish this using hand power. Not many people have access to tools such as yourself. I'm sure millions would appreciate that.
Just placed an order through your website, you have been so inspiring in my growing to start a business.. would love if you throw in some free stickers or something!!! Bought a lot of my products off your recommendations.. but finally bought the MJJC foam cannon and rag company engine blaster.. had a little extra money from my Xmas bonus.. so wanted to throw you some support. Love your videos man.. truly get me through my days at work.
Great video Josh! Those B-pillar plastics typically don't have any clear coat on them which is why they scratch so easily. I've seen some people recommend having a shop throw some clear over them to make them more durable. I know most people won't go that route, but also an option!
My car has some piano black trim, and some coated in that soft touch rubbery material. One piece looked horrible so I removed the rubbery coating and polished it to convert it to piano black. It turned out OK, but definitely hazy and not as glossy as the OEM stuff. I'll definitely give this a shot.
I have struggled in the past with this as well. Thanks for this method. I'm going to do that on the next vehicle I get in the shop with piano key trim.
The B pillars on my Navigator were looking pretty sad with minor scratches, swirls and had a nickle size dent on the driver's door pillar. I filled the small dent with spot putty and choose to wrap the pillars with a good quality 3M High Gloss Black wrap and they look new again. It was my first DIY attempt to apply a wrap, but being a small feature and basically flat, it was extremely simple. After success with the B pillars, I also wrapped the C pillars, which were body paint color, but now looks much better in gloss black, providing a transition from the rear-side black glass around to the rear window glass hatch. These were a little more challenging with additional contours, but they came out perfect. Just another option.
Hey so I watched your video on the automatic retractable pressure washer hose from an air hose reel and you mentioned you left the link to a Amazon basics conversion of the air hose reel to a pressure washer reel but when I clicked on the video it say you have the video private I do t know if you meant to do that but I was hoping I could watch the video because I need a cheaper alternative to a pressure washer reel
Thanks Josh this was fantastic. I must admit I am guilty of using too aggressive compound on the B pillars years ago…..Figured out what you demonstrated in this video . Happy New Year to you and your family!
My Subaru B pillars are metal not plastic and a matte finish. Had some small rust spots. Sanded down, primed with rustoleum primer and matte paint. Works great and looks great !
3d speed is so versatile! Yea that would would amazing for this for sure. Enough cut and perfect finish and also has the glaze added in for great results and protection
Theyre usually super cheap to replace.ususlly less than having thempilished. When i tell the customer the price and that ill replace them for less than the price of polishing them, they usually opt for the new ones.
Nice, I typcally polish them oput but there are many cases where they are too far gone and in that case replacement is the only option. Have you done quite a few replacements for different brands? I have a customer with a porsche Panamera that could use new ones and im just starting to look at the cost for them
Hey Josh! Question what about if there was overspray on the door trim pieces, you’ve tried all the easiest steps first. I’m a Detailer/ working at a body shop/collision repair. I see this on a daily basis.. thanks for awesome content as usual 🤙🏼
Great video I love how you do yours unscripted! Mine are not piano “shiny” black like that but still get some scratches so I will give this a try. Thanks!
On some cars, these are vinyl stickers or are matte (and sometimes vinyl as well). I find that just wrapping them is cheaper and less effort, especially on older vehicles where they're just too far gone to save.
When you remove the wrap, will it ruin the original part? I've seen when people remove wrap from cars, that it takes some of the clear coat off. Kind of defeats the purpose of a wrap.
Any recommendations when dealing with B pillars and.roof rails that are black aluminium but suffering from sun damage and exposure to the elements? Would you advise a similar approach to the plastics in this video?
Josh, I had my B Pillars corrected, then PPF. I have another car, that needs correction. I’m thinking coating them. Do I need a coating for plastic, or is it a painted surface, and can I use any coating? Thanks Josh
Hello sir. Do you have an idea how many times can you actually polish those? Had mine polished 4 times already in a 2 year old car. Recently had it serviced at the dealer and they scratched the hell out of them again. Wanted to know how often and how many times can u repeat this. Had it done with Koch Microcut

Can you do a video on the garden hose spray nozzle you recommenf. Im so tired of replacing sprsyers because they break or the o rings break or they leak . Griots hss one but its $100! There has tobe a commercial grade spray nozzle thatlasts for less than $100.
@@imjoshv Thanks Josh! There are numerous videos that demo and review various nozzles but none of them are done by a detailer so far my purposes, they're not relevant or helpful . I have the 2012 Prius and the black spoiler on the back where the rear window comes together, it looks terrible. What can I use on that black panel to make it look better?
Can you guys recommend the best way to remove water spots off this plastic strip? The glass spot remover I use says to not use it on plastic. I don't have scratches, just spots. Thanks
A finishing polish on a microfiber towel and use your finger to guide the towel back on forth on the trim. Don't apply any pressure and don't let the polish start to dry out. Take your time and tape off any rubber surrounds.
Thank you Josh, I have those on my 2019 f250 and it bothers me how they look like crap. lol. Can this be done by hand with an applicator or microfiber? I don't have a polisher yet.
The Ford parts like these are terrible for scratches. We have a brand new Expedition and I have washed it 1 time and these are scratching badly. Now every Ford I see in parking lots I notice all of the scratches. I have a 2013 Genesis sedan and the same B pillars are not scratched at all...I assume the Genesis is a harder paint?
I’d have to see them to be sure, but in that case using a restorative product would probably be best. Maybe solution finish since that has a black appearance it may help to dye the area back
Try to do a search online I think they have 16oz bottle but the only one I found on Amazon was the 32oz. The one I have that I have came in my glovebox monthly subscription and it’s 16oz. Not sure if that was just for a sample or if they actually sell it that way but worth looking
Sorry, I'm not Josh, but I feel I can answer this question if you don't mind. You can hand polish anything that a polisher can be used on, it just takes more time & effort. In this case, with the softer pillar, it will be easier to do by hand than your painted/cleared metal surfaces such as the body.
@@imjoshv not painted, but has a matte sheen to it. There's a McKee's video on YT that shows them polishing away some oxidation on it. Seems like it may be the same process at the end of the day. Grab a polisher and start light, see what happens.
What is good to work on flat black not to polish it out? I don't want a whitish haze as car wax will give? Detailer's spray? This is for an electric scooter, not a car.
I have a question and would really appreciate any advice but I sanded and clear coated my headlights . They look nice and clear during the day but at night they’re kind of hazy so any suggestions on what I can do to fix that ?
Hey Josh, great video. I was wondering if you knew how to clean up matte black pillar and window trim on Toyota's. My 2005 Camry has this kind of trim with no signs of clear coat that came on it from the factory, and is very faded. It also has some stains on it from whatever's gotten onto it over the years. Any clue how to fix this? Thanks!
for sure! it will definietly help but even a 9h hardness coating wont prevent it completely. Because its so soft to begin with... The final result would most likely be harder than it oroginally was but still no where near the 9h since the substrate is softer. PPF is a great choice as well

That’s a great point!!!
Would the ppf stick to the surface with the wax on there? Usually you clean with alcohol first to get everything off

Thx maybe next u can show how to get those stains off the interiors without a heat gun. Is it even possible?
what kind of stains are you talking about?
Can you do one for the black window trim?
A finishing polish on a microfiber towel and use your finger to guide the towel back on forth on the trim. Don't apply any pressure and don't let the polish start to dry out. Take your time and tape off any rubber surrounds.
Sometimes there wrapped from factory so if you really wanted to you could peal it off and underneath is your car paint

Chelsea from Attention 2 details had this issue some months ago. I wonder if she fixed it?
Oh interesting... Yea im sure she figured it out
Josh, is there a way to duplicate these results or similar without a polisher, just by hand? Thank you
Sorry, I'm not Josh, but I feel I can answer this question if you don't mind. You can hand polish anything that a polisher can be used on, it just takes more time & effort. In this case, with the softer pillar, it will be easier to do by hand than your painted/cleared metal surfaces such as the body.
Always wanted to know the proper way
This is my favorite way. I’m sure others have their own techniques as well but this always gets great results for me!
Just wrap them with gloss black vinal wrap.
To avoid these from the start always dry that area in one direction no circular motion.
Yep, and using a high quality drying towel will definitely help
I throw ceramic after a panel wipe after the steps.
Yea that’s a good idea!
Would the same process work on plastic matte black pillars similar to an FJ cruiser?
That’s just pure plastic right? Not painted
