I’m an advocate of slapping PPF on those after cleaning them up. That way they stay nice a LOT longer. I did mine on my personal car & they’ve looked immaculate for over a year now. Thanks for the tutorial!

Great video Josh! Those B-pillar plastics typically don't have any clear coat on them which is why they scratch so easily. I've seen some people recommend having a shop throw some clear over them to make them more durable. I know most people won't go that route, but also an option!

My car has some piano black trim, and some coated in that soft touch rubbery material. One piece looked horrible so I removed the rubbery coating and polished it to convert it to piano black. It turned out OK, but definitely hazy and not as glossy as the OEM stuff. I'll definitely give this a shot.

    • @imjoshv

The B pillars on my Navigator were looking pretty sad with minor scratches, swirls and had a nickle size dent on the driver's door pillar.
I filled the small dent with spot putty and choose to wrap the pillars with a good quality 3M High Gloss Black wrap and they look new again. It was my first DIY attempt to apply a wrap, but being a small feature and basically flat, it was extremely simple. After success with the B pillars, I also wrapped the C pillars, which were body paint color, but now looks much better in gloss black, providing a transition from the rear-side black glass around to the rear window glass hatch. These were a little more challenging with additional contours, but they came out perfect. Just another option.

for sure! it will definietly help but even a 9h hardness coating wont prevent it completely. Because its so soft to begin with... The final result would most likely be harder than it oroginally was but still no where near the 9h since the substrate is softer. PPF is a great choice as well

Was it yourself. It’s the automatic car washes that are doing this!
