Been needing to see a video like this. Was tired of using "trim restoring" products only to be annoyed by how long it doesn't last, and whenever it rained the product would smear and leave an ugly oil trail. Thank you sir as a fellow Tennessean.

I've already known about this product, but haven't used it yet. You are the first I've seen not tape around all. And the first to wipe immediately, with no wait. I hope anyone who watches this understands......... finding that out made this video so amazing! Even if you already are aware, but about to try the product. Thanks man.

Yes well the guy in the video did it wrong you should wait at least 2 minutes before wiping it because you need to give it time to impregnate itself into the plastic pores. I know you can't spray alcohol over it afterwards notice how we didn't show you the rag after he was done wiping it with alcohol after you applied the product. It's like the blind leading the blind when I see videos like this

I bought the big bottle of Solution Finish Black Trim Restorer for about $50 or so. You really need very little so I still have lots, it will last me 20 years for sure. I'll do it twice a year. I cleaned the rubber, not nearly as well as in the video, but still pretty good. Dabbed a bit of it onto a terri-cotton cloth in it, and rubbed it along the rubber once. It works pretty much instantly and then buffed it off with a dry cloth. It looks fabulous. You can do a whole car with about five dabs. Its super easy to apply and to clean up. It wipes off metal with no problems. I didn't really need to do it again but I did anyway because I have so much of it. I store the car during the winter so I don't know how it would handle a Toronto winter. It's worth it if your car is.

So far that’s the best results on trim restore I’ve seen. Most products make the plastic shinny but the fade it still there. The back to black products continue to bleed into the paint near by when doing polishing on white paints is annoying. I’m gonna try this product for sure.

Once saw a video where some used car dealer would restore the trim with Rustoleum spray paint. Cleaned the trim, a coat of adhesion promoter, and a few light coats of Rustoleum. Looked like a champ. I tried it on an old 2001 4Runner front grill and came out nice. Though that vehicle he was working in sure does have a lot of trim. There’s also trim paint, thought I’d use the Rustoleum.

I do agree. Best restorer out there. A true restorer. My wifes cousins xterra trim was severely aged (it was a light gray in color) and her husband struggled with a restorer. I applied SF on the trim and she was amazed on the contrasting results but she was even more amazed on the ease of application and how “clean” the end result ended. I was even blown away as the trim was the worst trim I have ever applied SF to. 👍🏻

Too funny i too watched many videos on this topic... I found 5 years ago that using natural peanut butter oil from the top of the jar ...which you can purchase pretty much at any dollar store ... cheap small jar for a buck or 2 ...do not stir the peanut butter...use the oil from the top of the jar...just a little dab works great ...might have to redo it once or twice a year... a little dab goes far... save your bucks... the rest of this crap is exactly that crap... when you're done with the oil on top of the jar you can always eat the rest of you choose!!!

@@sasksunseekers5699 I actually bought some and it has held up pretty damn good! Better than any other commercial product that I've tried. Applied on May 6th. So just over 3 months and it is at about 60% of the original luster. What I didn't like was the mess. My favorite thing is that after it's applied it looks more natural and doesn't have that artificial "shiny" effect. I'm curious about the peanut oil though. What's different with your method and just using peanut oil out of a bottle? I've had limited success with linseed oil too.

Harbor fright special of $9.99, set it on low and slowly move around the plastic it does take some time but it is restored forever, of course i do follow up with chemical guys VRP and it looks amazing, you could use the restoration product since the pores are open on the plastic from the heat and then once it cools the product seeps deep into the plastic

Question I need to ask...How long does it last? All finishes make black trim look better-great at first application but how is it long term? Weeks/ Months? or longer? Also living in a hot dry climate how does it stand up to rain, snow & such? I like dyes much better than dressings, one coating I don't like which a lot of people do like is CeraKote but it leaves a gloss finish like the trim has been painted gloss black. I use Forever Black (it's a dye too) but there's one drawback which is it sticks to whatever it touches (don't get it on your paint!) but it lasts for me a year +.

After you apply this and it has covered well you may notice you need to apply another coat if so do that 4 hours after your first coat and then top it with Gtechniq EVO V4, desirably to coats and this will last for years just remember to give a final wipe down after allowing solution finish to cure for at least 12 hours and then wipe it down before you apply your top coat ceramic.

Looks like Luke isn't reading comments. So, as someone who has used this product: it lasts pretty well for a good 6 months outside in Midwest weather. You can let it cure for 5 hours and retreat if the black is not dark enough and even enough.
The next application in 6 or so months will require even less effort and will not take more than one coating.
Recently, the company has released a topper for SF (wait untill it cures) called "Over the Top Plastic Sealer." In this country, Rag Company has an exclusive contact for the Sealer. It's supposed to add 3 months to the life expectancy, and you can reapply SF over the Sealer when the trim finally fades. You can top off more than once and so extend the time before reapplying SF.
Note: I haven't used the Sealer yet. It's on order.
PS: I don't know how anyone would have rain removing this, unless you did a really terrible job preparing the plastic. SF says to use 70% alcohol or higher. This targets silicone, which has often been applied. It's important to use a strong enough solution.

Would it then be good to put some trim protectant on top of the Solution finish? Just wondering how to make it last as long as possible, or maybe when (if needed) to do the process over. Thanks for a good video.

EP From more research this product will destroy local products in longevity. I have used armour, tire shines and they all only last a day to a few days at most . Thanks for the reply ✌🏼

@@an7d7y Every company claims their product destroys the competition. It's sales and marketing. As far as "longevity", that depends on where you live and weather conditions. In the past when i used armor all foam tire shine, i get 2 weeks in SoCal

Alejandro Flores actually pretty good. Would suggest for heavily faded plastic. The other trim restore products work just fine if not to bad as is. This will bring it back to life then can maintain with other sprays

@@cudgee7144 yeah no problem. I still use it on the rubber and mirrors it just doesnt seem to absorb as well so I have to apply more and it wears off faster. I've tried a few other products like Bowdens Vinyl Revival but nothing seems to work as well as the solution finish.

@@calebbonsall-pearson3218 Mate just thought i would let you know after all the help you gave me. I bought some Autoglym professional plastic and trim restorer. Seems like really good stuff for smooth plastic, we have had some really humid weather with tropical downpours and has not faded or run and really easy to apply. And cheap, one litre cost me $43 delivered, and will last a long time, you don't need much per application. 😀
