As far as I saw, the 38-version was the official service pistol for the british military in ww2, so that might be why. At least thats what wikipedia gave me. Then again, weapons are going to change - for example there IS a lack of anti-tank weaponry currently, which might get filled with the PIAT or something similar? In regards to what more weaponry, maps and other things are going to be added... I think we have to wait for the outcome of the kickstarter and how much budget can be spent on things.
Ah never forget: this game currently is in pre-alpha. If the february kickstarter is successfull, then I'm sure that the devs will add more weapony. Mostly because atm, the commonwealth doesnt even have a anti-tank weapon like the PIAT. Devs also seem open to suggestions in lots of areas - so we might get to see some more pistols aswell :)
