2020 Dodge Journey 0-60 Acceleration and Handling

- The only available powertrain for the 2020 Dodge Journey is the 172hp 2.4-liter i4, 4-speed automatic transmission, FWD. It is strikingly underpowered, dull, and unresponsive. It truly feels decades out of date. Ice cold AC is the only praise coming to mind for this vehicle.
The Journey is a very dated, cheap, bare-bones crossover that was previously better suited with the 3.6-liter V6, 6 speed transmission and awd, no longer available for 2020.
This is the automotive equivalent of waking up in the middle of the night and struggling to roll over into a good position to halfheartedly blow out a fart
Imagine that suv loaded up with 7 passengers and going up hill 🥵
In hot weather
At high altitude.
With the A/C on and needing new spark plugs
After 200k miles
I have a Dodge Journey and i have been in that case... and the car turns off
Shame on Dodge for dropping the V6 models, this was painfully slow. Great video!

Blame it on the 4 speed, I don’t know why dodge was so f*cking mentally disabled to keep that 4 speed would’ve been cheaper and better overall to throw in the 6 speed that’s in the 3.6

And 4-speed transmissions as a whole, date back to 1939

Ironically it is the most reliable transmission they ever made right up there with the venerable 8 speed ZF8 based design.

My sis owns one just like this but it's a 2018 model. My stock '76 Lincoln with its 200 HP V8 would walk all over it.
Yeah these things really are pitiful with a 4 cylinder :( a V6 should be the baseline engine because 14 seconds to 60 is absolutely abysmal😂 I don't think you'd be able to get out of the way of a bus

For a 2.4 4 cylinder is very slow for what it is a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander “similar size and 7 seats” with the 2.4 and CVT is faster than the Journey even tho is still a slow car
I have the same inline 4 in my 2018 Journey! Honestly, it is no big deal at all, even through it carries 173 hp. It could still carry a full 7 passengers and be just fine. It only has 40500+ miles though.
Dodge decided 8 gears was too much so they gave us 3, 5, 6, and 7

Why was the V6 dropped for the 2020 model year?
It seems to me like the V6 was dropped for this model year so Dodge could get rid of their spare parts by building these cars in the cheapest configuration and selling to fleets. Production ceased all together in 2020.

@@harkin3684 The discontinuation of the only desirable powertrain makes it clear FCA is putting this platform out to pasture. It has persisted mostly unchanged for over a decade. Who knows what they're planning to do with this nameplate.
@@joyride2013 They will probably discontinue it when it stops selling because basically everyone has forgotten that these are still being made, maybe FCA has forgotten too.
2021 is the last model year I believe
If it got like 40 or 45 MPG it would be ok for it to be this slow.

A yo let me teach you something for saudi drift you are good but get you a fwd handbrake car like Chevy Cruz or Camry and when you slide the car don’t let off the Gas and balance with the handbrake cause your in control of the car and when you want to do the 360 turn the wheel and pull the handbrake and let off and keep on doing it

I think Dodge MAJORLY dropped the ball on the Journey. It should have
FAR FAR more luxury options on the higher trim levels. More interior
colors to choose from only black leather as an option isn't cutting it.

I love this car to death because we own one and it's been significantly reliable believe it or not, but it is unnecessarily slow and seems to recognize us pressing the gas pedal when it feels like it when the air is on... and for $23,000, Idk what it would take for me to get this instead of one of those new rav4's, even if it is smaller, however, the space in this car and ride quality is great and the seats are quite comfy.

Very slow, maybe slower than a city car even though it's a 2.4 with 184 hp but the acceleration isn't much different from my Innova 1TR-FE which only has 137 hp, it looks like the fuel consumption isn't that good either 💀

That's because the 2020 Journey came with a 4 speed transmission only. Your daughters 2017 probably has at least 6 speeds. the Journey in the video really struggles to stay in a happy rev range
