For years I have been trying to figure out how my grandparents made their creamed corn so amazing. Yesterday (Christmas) I made your recipe for my parents and everyone agreed it was spot on! Absolutely delicious, just like grandpa used to make.
Tried it, but used yoghurt+milk (not cream), and honey for sweet. Also used an immersion blender before adding milk+cornstarch cuz I like it creeeeamy. Almost feeeking perfect & better than grandma's. should use white pepper, not black. just a pinch.
I've been making homemade creamed corn for 50years. My mother for 60 years before me. Almost the same recipe and process.... heavy cream, butter, pepper and no cornstarch or sugar. It thickens as it cools down. Old school doesn't get any better. The grands think they went to heaven for dinner. Lol
I've been using this recipe to make cream corn for the past 3 or so years for Thanksgiving and everyone is always complimenting how delicious it is. Thanks for posting this!
I just made this with Trader Joe's frozen corn and it is delicious! I really appreciate the milk cornstarch slurry for thickening. Thank you very much for sharing your recipe!
I didn’t have fresh corn, but what I did was used some canned sweet corn. I also had some herb and olive oil marinated garlic cloves (from the deli/anti pasti section). I took 1/3 of the corn, heavy cream, and the garlic cloves and put in my Ninja blender until it was the consistency that I wanted (not minced, but not quite puréed). Then in a medium sized pot I put the rest of the corn with just a little bit of the juice from the can, some land o lakes whipped butter, and then poured in my blended corn mixture, added some more heavy cream and cooked for about 10 minutes. DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!
Made this tonight using corn I had frozen from my garden and it was delicious. I am so glad I found this recipe. It takes my homegrown corn to another level. I am very pleased. Thank you.
I just made this yesterday and it was fantastic! Thank you so much for this short, easy to follow recipe. Also, thank you for putting the ingredients in the description box as well. That’s really helpful!!
That looked so good I went to the store to get everything by my store didn't have fresh corn so I bought frozen corn I'm making this tomorrow for my daughter. Thanks for sharing.
If you use a bread knife on that it is easier, to cut, also if, you carve 🎃 it is easier to use.We fave a fish knife kinda like a bread knife.I use to carve our pumpkin and it is a wholevlot easier. Great job.😊
Hhhey I'm from Algeria & here we don't have recipes with fresh corn & these days my dad had a very beautiful sweet corn from our garden so much that we didn't know what to do with & here is your recipe , I will try it & tell u back their reaction to it thanks a lot 💖
@@m4tthi3u yes I did it & my family and I loved it sooo much it's something new for us but very delicious this is y I'm not gonna hesitate to make new recipes anymore ♥️
We used this recipe for our Thanks-Giving dinner this year and it worked superbly! I used tinned corn and 'creamed' it up a bit with a hand-processor. This one makes it into my personal cook-book.
Cream carrots are delish I use mini bring pot of salted water too boil add pack of carrots cook tell tender!! And 1/ 4 cup of butter add milk too cover salt & pepper thicken with corn starch
I love the recipe and Use it all the time. Although I did change some things up to help the texture and better control the salt. The 2 Tbsp of butter melt in a pan on the side then add the flour to that to make a rue. Toast for a 2-3 min to remove the flour flavor. It will smell nutty and will completely remove the Flour taste. Then add the 1 cup of milk slowly to ensure 0 lumps. Then add the creamed corn slowly to that and once mixed then add salt and pepper to taste. It helps to get a better texture and will insure its not top salty for you. Once you add salt you cant take it out
I love all your videos you are great. One Elton Brown tip for getting corn off the cob is to put it on a bundt pan and let the kernals fall in the an as you steady the ear on top of the pan in the middle part.. More videos please do one on good Sweet Iced Tea!!!
LMAO, I still don't know why I decide to watch your vids so late at night lol, well now I need to stick something delish in my mouth lol, I know that sounds horrible! Yummy!!!
Crouton Crackerjacks Hey there, do you think that I'd be nice if I add some bacon stripes ( already cut to small pieces ) and add then while boiling? And what about adding some more spices? or maybe caramelized onion?
If I do it moms way, its sauteed in bacon grease and then mashed with a potato masher with about a cup of water and left to simmer till thick. I sautee in olive oil with garlic red peppers and rosemary and add the corn starch slurry after the corn is tender, about 10 minutes or so. I hadnt thought of the bunt cake pan, too bad I dont have one to try it with either:-)
TheASTrader mention your cutting board. I agree. I’m not sure what that is in the vid but, guys, use wood or plastic or something tender to cut on because a hard surface will dull your blade.
Vegetable peeler is easiest way to get corn off the cob when making cream style corn. Peel corn off cob then go back over corn to get the milk part of the corn.

Trust me, it was fresh. However, last year was the worst drought we've ever seen so what little corn was actually available wasn't the best.

Do you boil the corn first?
