Even on recipes that call for unsalted butter, I’ve never found that a little extra salt from salted butter made a dish worse. If anything, it makes it better. I once heard that the difference between home cooks and professional chefs is the amount of butter and salt they use. Humans love salt and butter, even though we know it’s unhealthy, but we don’t see into the kitchen just how much they are using.
Some times a recipe will call for unsalted and the only time they are correct is when frying in a high heat skillet, the salted butter can turn brown & burn much easier than salted butter.
Before they made carmel pop corn, this is how WE made carmel pop corn. Except minus the butter. If we had used the butter, we would have been in trouble. Especially THAT much butter. 😮Tat being said. this has too much sugar for me to think about making it. ☹

Just a tip. Before adding the caramel sauce, put the cereal in the oven so its nice and toasty. That way, the initial mixing is so much more thorough and easier.

Hey Ken, I didn't think about using this cereal...I had used "Kix" cereal before. Gotta try this too, yum!! There are so many different goodies to coat in caramel.😁 Oyster crackers and even the round pretzels are delicious!! The sky is the limit, adding peanuts or any of your favorite nut is amazing too. I got a bunch of my late grandmother’s recipes and one of them (probably her toffee recipe) had a line that said something like, “Cook until it looks like a paper bag.” I feel like this color change you showed is what her recipe meant! I feel so enlightened now. LOL

Butter or salt is NOT unhealthy in moderation of course, however corn syrup and sugar is.

I got a bunch of my late grandmother’s recipes and one of them (probably her toffee recipe) had a line that said something like, “Cook until it looks like a paper bag.” I feel like this color change you showed is what her recipe meant! I feel so enlightened now. LOL

Corn Pops is a crunchy, sweetened pooped-up corn cereal made by Kellogg's. The name of the cereal originally was Sugar Pops, but the Sugar was dropped from the title in the mid 80s.
Mascots
The original mascot for Corn Pops was Woody Woodpecker from the first day of the cereal to 1967. After that, a prairie dog dressed up like a cowboy called "Sugar Pops Pete." The next mascot was the "Whippersnapper," who was a live-action cowboy. The Whippersnapper lasted for nine years until 1977. From 1980 to 1986 the mascot was a female porcupine named Poppy. Next came a live-action person in a Corn Pops suit. Presently, the Corn Pops mascot is the Sweet Toothasaur.
