This is one of the Sonic games I've never played before and I actually found it quite fun, especially compared to the newer sonic games. This longplay shows all the chaos emeralds and all puzzle pieces collected. It's not possible to gain all pieces in one run so I added the extra stage runs at the end of the video. -

Many people don't know about this game, understandably it didn't come out on a very popular system.
But I feel like too many overlook it because it really is a solid portable experience, besting even the Game Gear titles.
A really cool game overall, not very difficult but with some nice replayability since there are hidden collectible all over the place.
It does not best the 1st Sonic outing on the Game Gear. Also, it could be argued that this game is just a demake of Sonic 2, with Sonic 3 music.
The sprites in this game are so clean
And the music is great, too

My parents bought me a neo geo and this is the only game I ever owned on it.... countless hours spent wooow that opening theme brings so much nostalgia

Why is nobody pointing out that Eggman changed from his Classic design to his Modern design in Gigantic Angel Zone
It debunks the idea once again that Classic and "Modern" Sonic were meant to be separate universes.

I was currently working on this game, and I gotta say... it's ACTUALLY a REALLY good 8-bit Sonic game I've played so far! The remixed music are just so darn awesome, the stages remains a classic as usual, and I love how Sonic looks in 8-bit form after the SEGA Game Gear / Master System era! The game IS hard though, but overall, I enjoy playing that game! 😁😄

I used to play this all the time on my NGPC, and I can NEVER get that 6th Chaos Emerald, let alone all the puzzle pieces, yet you make doing both of those things look so easy!

Rather weirdly, it's pretty much the only Sonic game that didn't get an entry in the Encyclospeedia. I can only assume that there was some kind of copyright issue with SNK or whoever owns the rights to the Neo Geo that couldn't be resolved.
I mean, the Encyclospeedia covered games like Sonic Schoolhouse and Segasonic Cosmo Fighter, but not this?

It's honestly not worth the effort. It's pretty much just a mishmash of the Genesis games and offers pretty much nothing new, aside from the forgettable bosses. Trust me, I own a NGPC and the game physically.

The neogeo pocket was nearly identical to the GBC, in my opinion.
I believe the Neo Geo Pocket Color was in fact more powerful, but I could be wrong.

1st stage music is the Sonic World theme from Sonic Jam.
This game is the reason why it got a 10/10.
The people who made this went on to work on the sonic advance and rush series.

Sonic Pocket Adventure is like a combination of Sonic 1; 2; CD; 3 and Knuckles for a pocket console.
This brings back so many fucking memories! I used to own this back when I had a Neo Geo Pocket Color! It used to be one of my favorite Sonic games back in the day!

@@flatwormexit actually theres a lot of denial, since Sega and Nintendo were really big rivals at the time, and Sega had their own handhelds during the gameboy color's lifespan.

If it has adventure esthetics yet eggman uses both his modern and classic design and its a 2d game using stages basied of sonic 2 should it be classified as a modern sonic game or a classic sonic game
The neo geo pocket color certainly had alot more Vibrant colors than the gameboy color.

that's literally the worst special stage they could've chose imo
And given that there are only 6 zones, with the sonic 1 entering method you only get exactly six attempts instead of multiple ones, meaning you can't mess up once otherwise you won't be able to reach the final boss, which is bs design. Doesn't help the final boss is a watered down version of Doomsday Zone, and you can't even use Super Sonic in regular zones.
They basically chose the worst combination of design elements for anything involving the special stages with a lame reward.
@@DarkStar7X In this game you can replay any act that you've finished at any time, and your Chaos Emeralds are always saved. Makes it kind of a moot point, but I will agree the reward isn't really worth it.
Sonic Blast is the game that actually makes you get them all on the first try, assuming you even find the special stages.

I have this game. It is actually the first Sonic game I ever owned. It was good for the NGPC, Sega couldn't release a Sonic game on the GameBoy color after all. But I do like Triple Trouble on the Game Gear more than this game.

Looks pretty good for a handheld system from over 20 years ago to me. The game was designed for a 2.5 inch screen and being blown up on a desktop monitor is going to look pretty ugly.
