Touchscreen = big savings on components and build time. Bottom line savings is their aim

True, I also hate it. It feels cheap and actually doesnt fit with the rest of the car... I think actually EU should start regulating as usual, since it doesnt feel safe, but for all carals manufactured. Common controls should always be physical, like emergency, airco, windows, volume control and so on, also cruise control. I would just put navigating panel, and other not critical things...

All this touchscreen functionality on the car yet it’s illegal to touch your phone whilst driving. Madness!

That’s because most people look at just their phone and not glance at it especially where I live. And most people here crash because of speed or texting and driving/watching a video or movie on their phone while driving. People need to just focus on driving

Honestly these days automakers create more of a gadget rather than a car that we’ve come to love. Forget that horrible looking steering wheel, those high-end screens, piano plastic trim makes it less practical, less engaging and un-natural. It’s obviously downgrade. Only handful of automakers (probably Mazda being one of them aside from high end Porsche) still make cars, not gadgets: practical screens (not huge, not diminutive, just the right size), a bit heavy steering wheel, less-spongy suspension and of course physical buttons for A/C. Kudos to Mazda!

  • @chm1701
    @chm1701 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

So, it’s larger and longer than the older A4, but has a smaller boot. It’s got touchscreens galore inside, but has no physical buttons, and the S4 variant, has a V6 petrol engine, instead of the previous engine, which was a TDI. I was really hoping that it would look great (which it thankfully does), but I wish they’d have kept some physical buttons for the most widely used features and also would have kept the TDI engine from the previous vehicle, as I continue to be a fan of diesel and their torque figures.
Not everything that’s new is better and in this case, I would say this is a somewhat of a downgrade - at least for me. A shame.

Interior is not too bad, should had more physical switches and dials for often used functions and I’m sad the more performance oriented models are leaning on hybrid set up’s, overly and unnecessarily complicated but I’m sure it’ll be fairly rapid and heavier then the outgoing cars.

As a long time Audi driver. I'd sum this up as uninspiring. This package manages to give you none of the advantages of the A5 or A4.
    Want a coupé - nope, that's gone.
Want an estate - certainly. Here's one that's smaller than the car it replaces.
2004 to 2010 was peak Audi.
It's been a gradual decline ever since and this latest model is no exception.
I see from your video that the A6 is going to be EV only.
Let's take the biggest estate we make and one of the biggest saloons. Both made for racking up miles day after day everyday and blight them with minuscule EV ranges back up with motorway charging networks that generally have 50% of the chargers out of action.
    Its makes no sense.
Odd numbers to remain combustion. The A3 is a prime candidate for EV and city use yet that will be combustion.
A6 is made for big miles yet will be blighted with EV

Glass roof on a car - after turning a glass-top car onto its roof decades ago (my fault entirely) and ending up with pieces of that roof embedded in my head, this is one feature that makes me shiver. Add in the undoubtedly considerable cost and it's one option I'd definitely avoid. Am I the only person here who sees these cars and thinks of the Skoda Octavia and Superb, complete with the big hatch? Audi sinking to new lows with interior quality and design. Overall, the car looks OK externally, but £73k starting price for a base S5 Avant, so what the Black Edition will be over £80k I'm guessing. BMW M340 Touring is £59k and with almost every option added, still less than the new Audi. The BMW has a much better interior, is faster, looks better and it's a LOT cheaper, not to mention BMW finance rates are half Audis. No brainer, don't buy this if you wanted a new S4, sorry, S5 Avant.

I like the exterior design, looks great. but interior, the tiny small shift handle is not attractive and the passenger screen is unnecessary... btw, the large display that reminds me of Chevy....

Err...I'm not replacing my current S-line 45 TFSI A4 with any of these, anytime soon. If I'd summarize the new A5 / S5 models with one word that'd be... CHEAP. Which is a pity because I do like AUDI.

I want; physical buttons and real wood in the interior, with minimal Piano Black.
Obviously, this Audi isn't for me. I'll keep my 2017 Q7.
