I'll be 71 next month and I love skincare!!! My students tell me they can't believe I'm over 70. I tell you that because I didn't start caring for my skin until I was 55. It's never too late to take care of yourself!!!

I am 54 and have never really had a good skin care routine, just the basic wash my face and apply moisturizer... now I am feeling that I missed the boat and there is no point in trying. But after reading your post, it gives me hope that I can (hopefully) do better and look better from here on out. 😊

I like to do a mix of high and low priced anti-aging skin care products. But this excellent video proves you can do it on a budget. No excuses these days to skip anti-aging because of price. Thanks Dr. Sam...you slay.
No need to pay high price for anything these days. Between this and the Budget Dermatologist’s video on affordable anti-aging products there are excellent affordable products.

Mother was an RN, I'm thankful she taught me to use SPF at an early age and to eat a wide variety of fruits/veggies. For the past 30 years, I've used glycolic acid once/week, retinA, six nights a week (or as tolerated), and my skin is pretty healthy. I revisited my routine recently because my skin def. changed during menopause. So I may reduce chemical peel to once a month or switch to an AHA wash, that still gives me the benefits of exfoliation but reduced contact to reduce the irritation factor.
My favorite products are CeraVe SPF 50, Vanicream Vitamin C serum, RX retinA, and Missha Time Revolution Essence. I like Undefined Day Serum, with brightening ingredients like Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin, Kojic Acid, and Licorice Root.

My current anti-aging favorite is the A-Game-5 Retinal from Geek & Gorgeous. My sensitive skin likes it more than Naturium, and I can feel my texture improving, and haven't gotten any new wrinkles or fine lines.
I think im going to have to try your vitC when mine runs out. 👀 I love that there are affordable versions of L-ascorbic/fereulic serums now! im a huge fan of the naturiam retinal.. I use tretinoin on my face every night.. but i still love the serum for my neck and chest. Its also worked really well for my daughters acne. She likes it a lot more than adapolene. I love that these really effective skincare ingredients are so accessible ❤

I have been using Rx tretinoin for years and definitely see the benefits of glowing, plump, even toned skin. I absolutely love Lucent C. I've used so many of the highly recommended vitamin C products on the market e.g. Skinceuticals, Drunk Elephant, Revision, Naturium, DRMTGLY, etc. and I 100% agree w/ Dr. Ellis that the Lucent C is the best of the best - from the pump packaging, the formulation, and the price - it is so elegant and a pleasure to use. Thank you so much Dr. Ellis for creating such an amazing product at an affordable price. I also love the gleanser, the hypochlorous acid spray and the SPF from Prequel.

I love your videos! I use trentenoin, which I love. At 70 years old, it still is fabulous I also use a vitamin C serum in the morning. If you have time to answer, what moisturizer would you recommend for mature, dry skin? Thank you!
Excellent video. Thank you! I am on the retinol journey and the Naturium may be my next step as I have done the Neutrogena 0.3% for months and wanted to level up a little bit and eventually make my way to tretenoin.

My timeless and Olay have become too expensive for me. I'm able to get super cheap tretinoin so I'm good on that.

I love Japanese and Korean sunscreens, I liked both the purito and BoJ ones. I also loved the SKIN1004, Anua heartleaf, Haru Haru and Scinic sunscreens too.
Dr. Ellis, thank you for helping me break my TH-cam beauty channel obsession. I am a clean living kind of gal. I resorted to TH-cam looking for help a month or two ago in healing my dry eyelid skin. Along the way I got seduced into the consumerism model of caring for my skin. After viewing multiple videos of derm channels on TH-cam, I settled on yours as the one that spoke most closely to my way of living. I spent many hours of the past month looking for the best skincare for my "needs". I was sold on the idea that at 61 y.o., the skin care routine that has worked perfectly for me over the past 5+ years needed enhancing because I have mature skin.
After experiencing tremendous pain as a teen suffering from teenage acne, early on I made a vow to myself to never put my skin through the trauma of skincare products again. It was when I heard you, the TH-cam derm who I trusted the most say, "No pain, no gain", I found reason to close the door on TH-cam skincare consumerism. Thank you for helping me find my exit! And my return to self.
I have been using Agency for about a year and I am pleased with my results. It has lightened my agr spots considerably. I do think I have maxed my results and will likely need to do a professional treatment to get rid of the more resistant spots. Started using Cerave Vit C serum my only issue is the packaging. It is metal and now has a crack which means it is coming out the bottom and is getting exposed to air. I have some very odd skin texture on my forehead and I am not sure how to deal with that. I have also used Versed products for the body and face and like them very much.
Thank you for your videos! I really enjoy the Prequel gleanser, moisturizing milk and skin ointment . I just got the Lucent C and the sunscreen, so am excited to try these as well. I love korean sunscreens. Currently using BoJ, Haru Haru, Tocobo, and Purito. Different ones depending on what I feel like. I absolutely love Neutragena RWR. My skin is truly glowing in the morning after using it. The Cerave retinol is very nice too. But that RWR is so moisturing. About once a week I use the Ordinary Lactic Acid. I’m on day 7 of an upper respiratory sinus/cold thing and the Prequel Barrier Therapy saved my skin. I’ve been using it several times a day just to soothe my face and I’ve been able to maintain an even skin tone with little redness and flakiness around my nose. As a bonus, my hands have stayed soft and moisturized through frequent washing.

Tissues made with lotion in them were the best recommendation I've gotten to keep my nose and upper lip from redness, soreness and dryness when I've had allergy or cold/flu symptoms! Worth the bit of extra cost!

I have the first one and now I see they have a newer version. The first one actually hurts around the eye area. I quit using it for now.
I am LOVing the Lucent-C. The "hot dog" smell is minimal AND the formula isn't as watery and it's hydrating!

Prequel skincare is so affordable and I love every product. Just got the Prequel SPF 50 ++++ and it is amazing!! Prequel gives you so much bang for your buck. I use Naturium Retinaldehyde 0.5 % and it works great for under $30.

I am using your gleanser, vitamin c, and sunscreen paired with tretinoin and once per week I use Bubble’s Deep Dive Exfoliating Mask which contains some pretty awesome ingredients for an inexpensive product.

Do you have and experience with Matryxl 3000 and GHK-CU peptides in a cream for anti-aging, fine lines, healing ETc? Looking for an alternative to retinol bc of it seeming to irritate my skin.
I’m 70 and for the last 10 years I have been very sick and my skincare was neglected. I’m finding my face very dull and wrinkled and wondering where I can buy your products to try. I have what my Doctors calls, pillow wrinkles. I sleep only on one side and my face is vey wrinkled on that side. It’s very noticeable and I need help there for sure. I love Naturium! Their affordable but well formulated products have replaced a lot of my more expensive skincare. The Niacinimide and zinc serum eliminated rough texture on my cheeks that has been there my whole life. Amazing.
I use many of the anti-aging products you mentioned. I am 63 and have little to no wrinkles on my face including the eye area. Over the course of the past year I have been noticing light, brown spots on my face, noticeably the cheek area. Can you suggest a non-prescription formula to use to tackle this problem? My face is sensitive due to a stroke and I fear using Tretinoin. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!
Dr. Ellis, I tolerate better prescription Adapalene gel of 0.3% and apply retinol cream on top of it. Is my daily routine as affective for anti-aging, collagen production, etc as Tretinoin?

i use the Vanicream THD and the CeraVe encapsulated retinol together twice a day. i guess this gentle but potent creamy combo is kinda sorta equivalent to Neutrogena's Advanced Tone Repair day/night duo.

There are drugstore retinal products like Avene 0.1 which a number of derms recommend. But then again, formulation does matter.

Just wanted to pop in and say how much I'm enjoying Prequel's Vitamin C. I love how watery and light it is and how it sinks right into the skin. It also smells like hot dog water, so I know it's legit 😄❤❤

I've seen one derm talk about this laser, Dr Davin Lim (Australia). Most channels that talk about it tend to the 50 plus channels.

Probably depends on the product and the instructions of the product. Some are leave on and some are body cleansers.
Is it okay to use spf 70 sunscreen for my face? For some reason the spf 50 was more expensive than the spf 70 at my walmart.

I bought the Neutrogena Wrinkle Repair a few years ago and returned it because of the fragrance.
They make a fragrance free version!
I use the fragrance free one and like it. I am currently transitioning up to their fragrance free cream Pro+ which is .3%. Planning on moving up to the Natrium .05% because it's Retinaldehyde. Curious to see if my skin tolerates it.
Are you supposed to be using all of these at once? Or just pick one and go with it?

Several derms have recommended the beauty of joseon eye retinal (which can also be used on the face). Some by mi also has a retinol serum and eye product.
