I once heard a famous makeup/skincare business owner say « she never liked a woman who spent more than 5 minutes on her makeup ». That has been in my mind ever since and I have to agree 100%. Of course special occasions are different. Years ago my long time group of friends went to Vegas to celebrate our collective 40th birthdays. A stranger to our group was asked who she thought was youngest and she pointed to me because in her words I had the most natural looking face. Plus it’s been my experience men don’t like to see heavy makeup on women!

Oh, the comment on body shaming skinny women was SO NEEDED! I have always been made to feel bad by friends that were larger than me. It is not right to feel obligated to be apologetic for your body, be it large OR small. these are toxic people nobody needs around for sure. we already live in a messed up world with so much hatred and pain, so protecting yourself from insecure, unconscious, immature and toxic people is always healthy and a good idea. To me that comment was shocking, having someone calling you a 'skinny bitch' is just awful!
When you're an adult you're expected to behave as such. This woman is so gorgeous I can only assume they were suffocating from envy, it must be very painful inside to get you to be so hateful and aggressive towards someone you just met.

American girl from the South here. A true southern woman does not outright "argue." You have to look for the displeasure in the length of a pause, lack of response or phrases like "bless their hearts." Also, you are not to call an older woman or a woman your age "Darlin, Honey or Sugar" . . . it's considered fighting words ; ) Thanks for the video!

Interesting comments and presentation. Many women lack confidence, and express themselves without any filter or restraint. What they think comes out of their mouths immediately. When I meet women who ask immediately why I don't have children, closely followed by some version of why am I fat, I retreat and look for someone else to talk to, or something else to do. Such terrible manners should not be rewarded. I am strengthened by my education, training to be humble, and love for my friends and family who do practice kindness and restraint. Being a good listener is more important to me than getting along with such rude people, who often do not notice that I stop participating in the "conversation."

I agree, that the body shaming of women of normal weight needs to stop. People get so used to seeing obesity, that they forget what normal is. I am not even at the bottom of the healthy weight range charts used in the USA. Women at work just say to me “Eat some carbs already”. It is so rude. They are also the ones who need to loose 50 to 100 lbs themselves. There should be more TH-cam videos made on this subject.

FourOaksLiving WI I am so sorry that people talk to you like this. Yes people are so careless in how they talk to others. It is an art to say something good to others, something upbeat for them. If you say something wrong then be quick to patch that. Don't call someone by any name other than what they want. Get a grip on your own jealousy and insecurities.

I agree, while it is flattering that people make videos on 'how to be French' it feels inappropriate if that is not part of their heritage or cultural background. Also, inappropriate, pushy questions from insecure women have always made me so uncomfortable and it is so rude and sad that they immediately look to judge rather than be gracious and have genuine and respectful interest in creating an authentic connection. I love watching your videos, I feel like I am hanging out laughing with a long-time friend. Thank you for sharing your light spirit with the world. Love from California! Also, Happy Bastille Day!

When women I don't know well start asking personal questions, I respond with "That's interesting, do you always ask such personal questions when you first meet a person?". If the person responds with "Oh, I'm just interested", I respond with "Are you always so interested?" I just lob the questions back to them. They eventually stop. If they ask me why I don't have children, my standard response is....."that's a very personal question." It makes the person look at themselves and stops their interrogation.

I'm so glad that you touched on the topic of body shaming and how it can hurt the feelings of those of us who are very slender. I am 1.68 and weigh 47kg. I am called horrible names sometimes and people presume I have an eating disorder. The reason for me being so lean is partly genetics but I was a professional ballet dancer with a corps de ballet and now I teach, so I am very active. Sadly it is mostly women who make hurtful remarks. I find this sad. As women, we should be respectful and support one another.

Seriously? I can’t believe you’ve been subjected to these comments! What is wrong with people I ask you? This video is speaking to my French Canadian roots. I can’t go out of the house without a bit of maquillage and perfume - I feel naked! I also understand about those YTers who profess to know about Parisian style. Now I do have a black beret 😊 but stripes seem to be missing from my wardrobe! Your description of the Parisian stereotype was very funny. I love your Oscar - he is your best accessory 😊❤️. When I was growing up my mother would say something we girls were wearing was ‘trop evasee’ (sp?). We still use that word. Loved this Frederique- merci beaucoup ❤️💋.

I'm VERY allergic to perfume. Lord, my life has become a misery because of perfume. It has made my asthma just get worse and worse. Just going to the supermarket can be difficult. So many women wear TOO much. Just a dab will do you! I just found out that another member of staff at work is also allergic to perfume; we had a good ol' chin wag about how awful it is for us! We work in a primary school where perfumed teachers have kids with bad asthma in their class- feel so sorry for the kids.

Such great content, excellent points Frédérique!💓
On the *bullying and personal questions* - I’ve had the same from some English girl colleagues (more junior than me) with my Irish accent. The guys love it but some girls will really mock disguised as ‘harmless banter’ about funny pronunciation or they will turn into a leprechaun. I also have long legs and thick waist-length hair and they mock those too! Even ask if i have hair extensions (which I obviously do not have, as these would never look anywhere near my quality of hair) as that’s what they have to wear. I just smile and secretly pity their ignorance 😊The same for the kids thing - just look them in the eye and say “no, I don’t”. Don’t ever justify such rude and ridiculous questions.

You are so right about skinny shaming! My sister and a former friend are both extremely fat and I never shame them, but they always felt it acceptable to constantly check on what I was eating and tell me I'm too thin. I'm 5ft 9inches and weigh between 9.5 and ten stone. A standard size 10. That is not too thin. When we've been to eat out together, if I haven't finished my meal or don't want to order a pudding, they're both on at me questioning my lack of appetite! Makes me so sick and I have to hold my tongue for saying something insulting to them, because they never seem to watch what they eat. Grrrrrrr!

Hi :) I thought I would take a moment to comment & share with you that I haven't ever watched style and fashion videos, but used to be quite stylish in a very classic, even French way myself. I lived in various cities across the U.S.. But over the last 12 years I had the great fortune to care for my little pooh bear, a 12 lb chihuahua jack russell mix, & he was the love of My life! He had very special health needs & some very cumbersome at times, dietary restrictions too. He was on prescription dog food his whole life with me. We travelled the country & shared many beautiful times as well as adventures. Two months ago he passed away & I was heartbroken. But I have thrown myself into his memorial which is coming along successfully. Somehow I had to pass the time, & I discovered several youtube stations, including yours. You continue to make me laugh with your self deprecating sense of humor, & humor in general, & you have inspired me with your timeless wisdom and tips. It is thanks to your channel & several others that I have made it through this most upsetting time relatively well. So I'd just like to say thank you. I greatly appreciate what you do & your natural demanor as well. Have a lovely day!! Julia in the US

Oh, but the point is too, that now I have a bit more time for myself, although I'd rather have him back instead. With this time, I'm deciding to become embroiled in skin care routines, yoga routines, classic fashion as before, etc.. I know that this will help occupy my free time, & further inspire me so that I can move past the pain of losing my little guy. So thanks once again! :)

Oh là là that was good my fiend! I totally agree with everything you said!! The clean house the personal questioning, don’t go out with yoga pants,... the French bulldog tidbit was funny 😄 I have to say though that when we were in France, especially Paris, it seemed that EVERYONE was grabbing a baguette (which originally came from Vienna, did you know that?! 😊) after work! 😂 It was kinda neat. I liked it. And I looove the food there. Especially the cheeses. Big hugs xoxo

I like how you are so truthful and fun to watch.I am american and I lived in perth Australia for 16 years,my grandmother was French and she would correct me the same way as well as my mother.my grandmother was very beautiful . I saw pictures of her during WW2 she was so elegant even in hard times. She was very well dressed. Both my grandmothers were. They believed in buying less but good quality. my mother was a fashion designer . she made wedding gowns. My mother was not as pretty as my French grandmother but she had a beautiful figure.

This is such a trivial complaint in these times. I love rocking the red lipstick while out wearing errands. It's been my signature my whole adult life. Not possible with masks. Such a small complaint, but I am hoping to bring out the lipstick soon!

Wear a full clear face mask, I do and rock the red lips.

Thank you, loved ❤ this. I visited Paris 3 years ago and saw how the French dress. Never overdone. I had a French manicure on my short nails and felt so out-of place with it....like a tourist. We found the French to be lovely people.
