If it didn’t kill aegon, it would injure him enough for aemon to take over the council, considering he would be next in line for the throne if aegon died. It’s funny the parallels between aegon/aemond and viserys/daemon. The rouge prince was power hungry, but he ultimately loved his brother too much to ever challenge him. Aemond was everything people feared daemon was.
except canon wise it didn't happen. in reality meleys and sunfyre clashed and vhagar fell on meleys from above crashing the trio to the ground. the show is not canon.
Which is why the chief conflict of a later season of HotD will likely be a confrontation between Aemond/Vhaegar and Deamon/Caraxes. I've never read the source material, but those who have tell me this is a seminal moment from the books.

Absolutely. Viserys should honestly have abdicated his throne when his health became really bad and made sure Rhaenrya sat the throne and had the support she needed established.
I have a newfound respect for Meleys. She almost got Vhagar, out manoeuvred Vhagar and dropped her from the air. She pushed Vhagar to a sneak attack. If she continued her assault when Vhagar fell or if she had Caraxes/ Daemon with her Vhagar would’ve lost for sure.
Besides having sympathy for those poor dragons this episode made me realize how much of a pawn and puppet Aegon was for Otto and Alicent. They didn't care that Aegon didn't know how to rule. They were in the shadows pulling his strings. It's just sad and appalling. To have Aemond try to kill his brother was an absolute monstrosity. I'm #TeamBlack but i have so much admiration for Aegon.

@@MrDibara Sunfyre would eat Moondancer as a snack in 1v1. Sunfyre is huge and fierce for his age so I mean, he could easily fight with dragons like Syrax who were 10-15 years older than him, but he had no chance against dragons 2 - 2.5 times older obviously.

He turned down ultimate power in the books on grounds of not wanting to usurp his sister's birthright. Only after relentless pressure from the Hightowers (who convinced him Rhaenyra would kill him and his children to eliminate any other potential claimants) did he finally accept. Whereas Rhaenyra came to be known as Maegor with titsm.
yeah they went overboard with Aegon, could have just had him as an alcoholic spoilt mad shagger and people would have just thought of him as mildly undeserving compared to Rhaenyra but they went too far in the first season with making him a rapist... rape is the one thing that everyone has a hatred of (unless they are peices of shit themselves) so the minute he was outed as a rapist it doesnt matter what he goes thru... hes still gonna be a rapist at the end of the day as thats all you remember even in his most vulnerable moments like crying after his son died in peoples reactions they just brushed it off cos what he is... totally defeats the nuance of his character. Vhagar was hide behind castle and attacked like one who cannot directly fight with Meleys. Both Rhaenys and Meleys are so great.

Watching this battle, I can’t help but have thoughts that scream to me, what if? I suppose it’s futile….however, what if Daemon and Caraxes had both been together in this battle? I surely believe that both Caraxes and Meleys could have taken down Vhagar permanently. 1 of those dragon’s as Princess Rhaenys said about Meleys “a dragon that is no stranger to battle”. Caraxes too, no stranger to battle. Why anyone presumed that Vhagar would not be there is beyond my level of understanding. Never presume anything. As if they weren’t going to use their most powerful dragon in this battle. What use is she protecting the Kings Landing when there is a decisive battle going on elsewhere. Kings Landing is protected and armed with Scorpion bolts. I wish that Rhaenys had fled after doing her part, she inflicted severe damage to the Greens troops, fought 1 dragon. Resulting in that dragon becoming too wounded to continue fighting. She should have fled to fight another day. Meleys was the Greens best battle dragon. I think that she went back, because Daemon blamed her for the death of Luke. As she had the opportunity to destroy all the Greens at Aegon’s coronation. And why has no one on the black council, even mentioned hiring sell swords. Just as Cersei did to fight Daenerys. Instead of continuing to get the support of houses within Westeros. Houses which are being threatened with death by the Greens unless they swear to Aegon. Why has no one thought to look for an army elsewhere. One that could easily be brought to Kings Landing by Corlys’s fleet of ships.
I think this is definitely one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen. And FYI - Sunfyre isn't dead. He just can't fly any more. As I recall from the books, he just lives the rest of his life on the ground

Personally, if I were Rhaenyra, I would’ve sent Rhaenys and Meleys to Harrenhaul to see the progress Daemon is making with raising an army for Rhaenyra. Plus with Meleys and Caraxes together, Vhagar would not stand much of a chance. In a head on fight Meleys evidently managed to hurt Vhagar enough to the point that she went crashing for a few seconds. Imagine if both Meleys and Caraxes ganged up on Vhagar? The fight would probably leave both Meleys and Caraxes wounded, but not dead nor close to it. I dunno, Rhaenyra’s main advantage was her dragons, but ultimately her undoing so far has been sitting idle and letting things play out. Cole now has a small army and Meleys is dead. Rhaenyra threw away so many opportunities to win this war and it’s gonna come back to bite her in the end.

Perspective . From the ground , the sky is vast , when ur up in the sky , ur not gonna have that view like on the ground , plus you won't see anything directly below you and behind you , plus clouds , distance and features of the land and water can also be used to mask your dragon .
She wasn't I'm the clouds, Vhagar was the size of a building and she was flying as low as a tower at most considering the sneak attack. When the both dropped u can see Meleys fly off and could've immediately u turn after that. There's no way she should lose track of something that big right away
The difference is the rouge prince Daemon loved his brother enough to respect his authority as king of the realm, while Aemon was also a rogue prince but did not care about his brother and would roast him alive if there was any opportunity. This is the opportunity he got and that is what he did to his own kin. If he can do this to his own brother what more to the people he doesn’t have any blood relations with?
It's one of those stories were you can't stand it... but it's still compelling. Imagine having dragons, actual dragons, that were intelligent, loyal and powerful, and then sending them extinct by warring with your own family. We can all relate to it though. When my Grandad died my uncles were all over his estate like sharks on a wounded seal. Even as he was dying they were changing locks on his house and stealing his art works. For the sake of greed we went from being a talented family with some tension to absolutely hating each other. We're ALL poor now because everyone burned bridges and wasted money fighting, and we're all vulnerable because there's no family to reach out for when someone gets sick. I hate the idiot Targs for destroying magic and wonder from the world, but I can see we all waste our magic dragons in our way.
She was too old and dignified to have made such a dumb choice. She went and lost from a winning position, had she just left after downing sunfyre it would have been a big win.
I could be wrong but I thought Cole and Aemond planned this to take Melys and Rhaenys out. Thus weakening their opponents dragon numbers. A brilliant strategy. Aegon arriving was not part of the plan. Cole would never allow that. But upon seeing his opportunity to seize the throne, Aemond decided he would finish what Rhaenys started.
My only question is how the hell did the lagest dragon become a assassin like that is my only problem with the show as in the book vhagar is one of the more slower dragon dude to her size so how did thry keep losing track of her in a fight

The book was biased towards the greens since it was written by the maesters. GRRM has said that between the two describing how the war actually went, the show is actually more accurate than the book. He purposely wrote the book to be biased and not completely accurate of the dances events. Fire and Blood was narrated by Oldtown maesters and a drunken, mentally unstable dwarf, neither narrative completely reliable.
I mean that’s because rhaenyras side was… y’know… right? So far the general events have been portrayed very accurately. Rhaenyras throne was stolen from her by an ingrate. Should she have just sat back and let that happen?

Out of anybody in the series, I despise his character the most. Rhaenyra has every right to fight for what is rightfully hers. Aegon has zero right to be sitting on that throne. And everyone who supports him, is as she said “a traitor”. Rhaenyra spent her whole life preparing to be Queen. She has what it takes to rule. Aegon, on the other hand didn’t even want it. He certainly did not spend his entire life preparing for it. He is not suited to leadership. So biased, no. Rhaenyra is simply fighting for what is rightfully hers.
What in the world, they should not have made it like this. In the books it makes Meleis seem a lot more badass fighting a 2v1 and almost killing Sunfyre, not to mention that Vhagar dracarys isnt nearly as powerfull as it should be. They are butchering so much stuff this season, only saving grace is Oscar Tully and Tyland Lannister.
I honestly don’t hate Aegon here. Sure he’s by no means a good person, but compared to his brother he’s a saint. Aegon may be a womanizer but I don’t seem to recall him hunting down a child all because of some grudge he held ever since he was a child.
Most of the Greens (minus Helaena Targaryen) are horrible people whose characters are born from the result of the political machinations and personal faults.

Like, she’s beautiful but she’s also really monstrous. And I love how squeaky she is. Caraxes is my number 1 but Meleys is number 2. Ugh. I’m with yall, if Daemon and Caraxes were there or if things just went a hair different in certain situations…I firmly believe that Meleys could have won. I had no idea she was so formidable. And the way Rhaenys strapped in cuz she knew Meleys moves were all about agility just gives me chills. They really were Targaryens.

I think that she went back, because Daemon blamed her for the death of Luke. As she had the opportunity to destroy all the Greens at Aegon’s coronation. And why has no one on the black council, even mentioned hiring sell swords. Just as Cersei did to fight Daenerys. Instead of continuing to get the support of houses within Westeros. Houses which are being threatened with death by the Greens unless they swear to Aegon. Why has no one thought to look for an army elsewhere. One that could easily be brought to Kings Landing by Corlys’s fleet of ships.
I think this is definitely one of the best episodes of television I've ever seen. And FYI - Sunfyre isn't dead. He just can't fly any more. As I recall from the books, he just lives the rest of his life on the ground

Well Supposably, rhaenys saw this the best chance to take out Vahgar. If successful, the war would definitely be won because Vaugar was the biggest threat.
@@JJchi834 I don’t think she’d lose all of her support. Personally, if I were Rhaenyra, I would’ve sent Rhaenys and Meleys to Harrenhaul to see the progress Daemon is making with raising an army for Rhaenyra.
Plus with Meleys and Caraxes together, Vhagar would not stand much of a chance. In a head on fight Meleys evidently managed to hurt Vhagar enough to the point that she went crashing for a few seconds. Imagine if both Meleys and Caraxes ganged up on Vhagar?
The fight would probably leave both Meleys and Caraxes wounded, but not dead nor close to it. I dunno, Rhaenyra’s main advantage was her dragons, but ultimately her undoing so far has been sitting idle and letting things play out.
Cole now has a small army and Meleys is dead. Rhaenyra threw away so many opportunities to win this war and it’s gonna come back to bite her in the end.

What I never got was how do you lose sight of a dragon so large. There is like no place to hide if you fly high enough and you have clear sky.
Perspective . From the ground , the sky is vast , when ur up in the sky , ur not gonna have that view like on the ground , plus you won't see anything directly below you and behind you , plus clouds , distance and features of the land and water can also be used to mask your dragon .
She wasn't I'm the clouds, Vhagar was the size of a building and she was flying as low as a tower at most considering the sneak attack. When the both dropped u can see Meleys fly off and could've immediately u turn after that. There's no way she should lose track of something that big right away
The difference is the rouge prince Daemon loved his brother enough to respect his authority as king of the realm, while Aemon was also a rogue prince but did not care about his brother and would roast him alive if there was any opportunity. This is the opportunity he got and that is what he did to his own kin. If he can do this to his own brother what more to the people he doesn’t have any blood relations with?

It's one of those stories were you can't stand it... but it's still compelling. Imagine having dragons, actual dragons, that were intelligent, loyal and powerful, and then sending them extinct by warring with your own family.
We can all relate to it though. When my Grandad died my uncles were all over his estate like sharks on a wounded seal. Even as he was dying they were changing locks on his house and stealing his art works. For the sake of greed we went from being a talented family with some tension to absolutely hating each other. We're ALL poor now because everyone burned bridges and wasted money fighting, and we're all vulnerable because there's no family to reach out for when someone gets sick.
I hate the idiot Targs for destroying magic and wonder from the world, but I can see we all waste our magic dragons in our way.

I could be wrong but I thought Cole and Aemond planned this to take Melys and Rhaenys out. Thus weakening their opponents dragon numbers. A brilliant strategy. Aegon arriving was not part of the plan. Cole would never allow that. But upon seeing his opportunity to seize the throne, Aemond decided he would finish what Rhaenys started.
My only question is how the hell did the lagest dragon become a assassin like that is my only problem with the show as in the book vhagar is one of the more slower dragon dude to her size so how did thry keep losing track of her in a fight

The show is so fucking biased to Rhaenyra’s side and made the narrative a lot less interesting. I really don’t care which side is right or victorious but all those cute dragon babies don’t deserve this absurdity. Sunfyre is still the best goodest boy ever despite having Aegon.

The book was biased towards the greens since it was written by the maesters. GRRM has said that between the two describing how the war actually went, the show is actually more accurate than the book. He purposely wrote the book to be biased and not completely accurate of the dances events. Fire and Blood was narrated by Oldtown maesters and a drunken, mentally unstable dwarf, neither narrative completely reliable.

Otto Hightower forced his daughter onto King Viserys years before as a calculated move to have his grandchild on the throne. To give absolute power to his family. The man is disgusting 🤮. Out of anybody in the series, I despise his character the most. Rhaenyra has every right to fight for what is rightfully hers. Aegon has zero right to be sitting on that throne. And everyone who supports him, is as she said “a traitor”. Rhaenyra spent her whole life preparing to be Queen. She has what it takes to rule. Aegon, on the other hand didn’t even want it. He certainly did not spend his entire life preparing for it. He is not suited to leadership. So biased, no. Rhaenyra is simply fighting for what is rightfully hers.

What in the world, they should not have made it like this. In the books it makes Meleis seem a lot more badass fighting a 2v1 and almost killing Sunfyre, not to mention that Vhagar dracarys isnt nearly as powerfull as it should be. They are butchering so much stuff this season, only saving grace is Oscar Tully and Tyland Lannister.

Meleys out here really putting in the work. Dayum. She never hit the ground….until, well….is it just me or was Meleys just an absolutely stunning looking dragon? Like, she’s beautiful but she’s also really monstrous. And I love how squeaky she is. Caraxes is my number 1 but Meleys is number 2. Ugh. I’m with yall, if Daemon and Caraxes were there or if things just went a hair different in certain situations…I firmly believe that Meleys could have won. I had no idea she was so formidable. And the way Rhaenys strapped in cuz she knew Meleys moves were all about agility just gives me chills. They really were Targaryens.
