Representing Team GB in my age group is something that fills me with an enormous sense of pride but it is also a steep learning curve with incredible athletes all around you. I feel like I learnt a lot and want to share it with you to help your journeys as well! A brutal, challenging but ultimately rewarding day...

Just because you took you’re hydration vest, I bet others looked at you and thought what a genius idea.

Ha ha yes but I can’t claim it was even my idea. It was my club mate Kim’s. Genius!! Really got me through 💪🏻

Congratulations Ben. Great race and great effort! I think you made a good choice for the hydration vest. As you said it might not look “Aero” but it gave you confidence and benefit of drinking when ever you want! Now rest and recover, enjoy your holidays

small world - I just discovered your channel today and going through the videos found this one :) Tg Mures is my hometown :) well done on the race, especially during the heat in July which can be brutal (unlike the balmy summers here in the UK) !

I still don’t understand why you were building your bike so late the night before the race though!
Cheers Clarky! Yeah it was a tough one that’s for sure. I was building my bike at that tome because that was literally the first chance I got 😢 we didn’t arrive at the race venue until 5pm then had to eat, register and stand race briefing, find hotel and check in etc it was a bloody nightmare 😂

Well done! When I go out for a trail run or do a road half marathon I always wear my camelback with 2 liters of fluid and full of snacks. You never know when you might crash, it just makes sense👍🏻🤘🏻

I have to admit I'm a bit annoyed for you that people would make fun of someone with a hydration vest in that kind of heat. Seems crazy to me! I would have been right along side you with one on as well.

I was going to wear my hydration pack but it covered my tri suit too much and I was told that wouldn't be allowed. I remember seeing yours and thinking how much more compact it was.
Oh really? Who told you it would be too big? I didn’t even think to check with anyone!! Probably got away with that 😳
@@ThisMessyHappy I asked Brent, and he told me if it covered my name or GBR then officials would ask me to remove it. When it's done up, it does at the front.
Do you have a 70.3 and an Ironman training program?
Not yet. That’s a much trickier one to put together and I’m not certain that generic plans would work for those distances. Will get my thinking cap on... 🤔
