    I love that these are "normal" people, when even what is actually a normal person wouldn't go under 2 minutes for a 400.

    • @ThisMessyHappy
      @ThisMessyHappy  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey Derek, I’m getting nailed from both sides here!! I’m also getting comments saying these runners are poor and any decent runner would easily get that pace. My lesson from this is that everyone’s view of “normal” is personal 😊

    • @dereknalley
      @dereknalley 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      @@ThisMessyHappy Then there's another video idea for you. Do a comparison of "normal human" vs "normal marathoner" vs "sub 3 marathoner" vs "Kipchoge" Show everyone the bell curve of actual human performance and put it all in perspective. Guys like you and Mark Lewis get hate from the people way on the extreme ends of the bell curve for not being Olympic athletes, when in reality, you're closer to an Olympian than the average person is to you. Keep up the good videos!
      I'm also looking at these numbers myself wondering what the averages are. So when I'm looking them up, they don't even show what an average human running pace is. Most of the numbers cite marathoners, which are already the top few % of humans running. If we took a train load of 1000 humans from a random city, I wonder what % of them could actually hit a meager 25 min 5k to save their lives. Let's not even talk about a sub 15.

      @@ThisMessyHappyNormal for running is weird. I’m 41 and have about 40lbs more weight than I’d like but have recently got into running to improve health. My son is 18 and an avid runner. Over 100 or 200 meters I can beat him in a race, I used to run short distance track and played basketball so focus was always on speed over distance. If it got out to 400 meters endurance would kick in and I’d lose every time.

    Entertaining as always! While they may be "normal" relative to Kipchoge, everyone in this video can run faster than 99.99% of the population. If you stopped random people on the street, you'd struggle to find many that can do 400M in under 100 seconds.

      I might be wrong, but I don't think that's important. With regards to physics and energy conservation, what's important is that the center of mass of your whole body doesn't jump up and down too much. Thus, when the legs and arms go up, other body parts need to go down.

    i am running quite often. so i have a good feeling about running paces. i can only say, everyone, who even manages to run at kipchoge pace (no matter how long), is doing exceptionally well. 2:50 is extremely fast and most people cant even reach this speed. i can run quite a while at 3:50 min/km but 2:50 is pretty much out of my league.
