    I had the same exact noise problem. Thought it was the exhaust forever but recently my e brake light kept flashing on and off which lead me to believe it’s the e brake. It is definitely the e brake. Thanks for the help.

    Thanks. You nailed it. I forget some idiot followed me home the other day and I let him drive my Chevy. He forgot to pull down the emergency brake and he drove for miles and miles with my emergency brake on. I was racking my brain trying to fix that rattle. Now I know how I got it. Thanks...

    👍👍👍👍👍My 2007 GMC2500 classic was making that noise and was seen by multiple mechanics to no avail. Finally, I was having a leaking trans seal replace and they found it. The rear drive shaft was not sliding on the splines and the front was sticking out of the tranny too far. The put a lot of anti seize on the splines and it went away. My problem was a sporadic grinding noise, exactly how slipping splines would sound like. I had the carrier bearing replaced a couple of months before it started grinding.

    Sometimes it can be your started drive, sometimes that fails and sticks out and hits the flywheel.. I know the feeling when you hear that rattling or grinding. That's what happen to me.

    Great info. Thanks. When yours was doing this did it seem to be a specific speeds? My 2014 does it every time at 20 mph and at 55mph as well as randomly if I’m under 60mph. Kinda sounds like a rumble strip just not as loud.

    The same thing happened to my 2000 chevy Silverado 4.8 I was thinking it was the muffler system or something like that but it was the emergency brake, it brakes inside the rotor.

    Good call I have the same thing...what is the fix? Just take the shoes all the way off I guess? Or can they be tightened?

    • @TheRealStonge

      Joseph O'Malley I just took mine out. Parking brake was rusted out. Definitely was in the “work truck” category lol

    Thanks a bunch I've been dealing with this for a few months now and couldn't seem to find the issue! Did u repair it??

    • @TheRealStonge
      @TheRealStonge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, I just removed it lol. The truck at the time was in pretty rough shape, so wasn’t worth my time and money. I don’t think it would be all that difficult to repair though.

  • @jondoe4667
    @jondoe4667 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So what's the fix? I'm in AZ so my e brake has no rust and works fine. So I'd like to stop the noise without deleting the e brake. My truck is in great shape and looks new even though it's 21 years old but it sounds like a pile of junk anytime I'm on a bumpy road.

    • @TheRealStonge
      @TheRealStonge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your E-Brake works fine? Hmmmm. If you’re still hearing the noise, my guess would be that the shoe itself is still rusted out. Maybe replace the shoes?

    Are those disc brakes Or drum brakes

    • @Thomas_Harris81
      @Thomas_Harris81 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Drum brakes are inside the rotor of your rear disc brakes.

    This is almost funny! He says, "Got my safety glasses on," but they're not actually covering his eyes. They're on his forehead. Not the proper way to wear PPE!
