    I bought the predecessor to the RP-600m, the RP-160m for a good deal less than these. They’re almost identical in spec and build quality and sound just as dynamic. I recommend them if money is an issue.

      I like the dynamics of the rp-160m more for movies. I think the JBLs are better for music but I think the balance between movies and music is better with the Klipsch. I'm sending my JBLs back eventually but will enjoy music while I have them.

    I love the easy musicality of these speakers. They are a joy to listen to... I care more about clarity, dynamics, and warmth than compete neutrality. These sound great with almost anything you throw at them, whether a cheap AV receiver, or dedicated integrated amp. They look as beautiful as they sound. A winner!

      I had KEF LS50meta's. Those are effing fussy and boring. Now I have way more fun with my Klipsch's for half the price. Neutral and uncolored all good and well, but everybody loves my Klipsch, while they found the KEF's just nice looking at best:)

    I picked up the polk Lsim 703s for 450.00 on a freakish sale normally 1500.00 US new and they on a totally different level than my RP 160m, The bass on the LSim 703s is crazy !!! Very smooth and non fatiguing period , best bookshelf speaker i have owned .Thanks Thamar for review. I passed up on the 600m for the polks 703s 30 pounds each ! And beautiful well built cabinet my review of the Lsim coming out this weekend with the new Blue Zen by iFi :) Thanks again !

      @@wa2368 Klipsch lists in-room sensitivity instead of anechoic sensitivity. This is because some of Klipsch's heritage speakers are designed for specific placement in the listening room and that placement is completely incompatible with the AES testing guidelines. Does that hurt your feelings? Why do you care? In general, their speakers still more sensitive than the majority of speakers in their segment.
      Just for your information, EVERY manufacturer evaluates sensitivity in a different way and many filter the pink noise they send to the speaker to help boost their specs. Welcome to the real world.

    I'm so happy with my Denton 80th's but these are high on the list to listen to, maybe they'll complement the Wharfedales. I've always been wary of the Klipsch treble but perhaps that is overstated.

  • @ememe1412
    @ememe1412 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Glad to see the sensitivity mentioned. Its always a headache for flea watt users to wade through. Both publish 2.83v/m figures but nothing else about how theyve worked this out. 2.83v as pink noise? Wave tone? In anechoic? Etc etc etc. Put this side by side in the real world, like here, and you can see how consumers lose out on meaningful info.
    This was why i used to buy a review mag back in the noughties specifically for their in house test and ratings that made the info consistent for real comparison.

    • @Bob.martens
      @Bob.martens 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Klipsch sensitivity is adtually an 'in room estimated' value. To compare them with properly anechoic tested speakers (basically all other big brands) they are about 5-6 dB less sensitive... As there is no real industry standard for sensitiviy testing it is not false advertising, but still rather misleading. In general the test is indeed done with pink noise as it is a realistic general spectrum and far less demanding for speakers than white noise. A better procedure is a calibrated frequency sweep, but this is more complex/expensive so only high-end manufacturers with dedicated facilities can do this. My RP600's are about as sensitive as my 91 dB/W Mission bookshelves... This is still well above average for bookshelves.

    Why am i watching this? I have owned them about year :-) very good. I always owned NAD, Cyrus and Monitor Audio. My son inherited my old system. He’s very happy as you can imagine like any student would be.You’ll always find something better but, at twice the price! I use them in a 2:1 set up with the very excellent Yamaha integrated amp R-N803D at 100 watt output. I also have a Klipsch subwoofer for films only. I would not recommend a Klipsch subwoofer for an audiophile music experience unless the volume and gain are turned down to very low levels. I will probably upgrade to a REL. it’s all quite exciting sound. I agree that longer listening sessions may not be optimal with these speakers. It’s really quite an event to go to my listening room and fire the system up when the house is empty and Neighbors far away :-) Will I upgrade them? If these speakers are improved by Klipsch-YES! My son has his eyes on the RP-600M already

I've always been a huge fan of properly engineered horn loaded speakers, and they are getting better and better! I've been enjoying my JBL Studio 530 speakers for years now. One of the most important criteria for me is listening fatigue. I like a sound that I can listen to for hours/with all types of music. Unfortunately that's one advantage that's usually obtained with higher budget vs lower budget components. Of course there are exceptions but somehow I suspect that may not be what the RP600M were designed for. Am I wrong?

      On my experience, (with the Klipsch rp 160m) definitely fatiguing and ear piercing with some resources and certain music. I had svs ultra and kef ls50. Ended up returning the Klipsch. Since I heard of the new Klipsch series, I keep getting the same feedbacks from anywhere, that the new line is no longer fatiguing, but for me I think that is not my type of sound signatures since I compared my kef ls50 against the new rsl g25 and I'm completely gained over by them. I can listen all day the cg25's and they're fantastic like anything with music. For movies I have left and right fronts with a pair of kef R3 and the center is a RSL CG25 and sound really nice. The kef r3 is a little more neutral than my kef ls50 on the treble and has more presence. Hope that helps.

    • @Bob.martens
      @Bob.martens 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really depends on the source material. The RP600 and it's brothers and sisters in the range are in that regard a big step up from all Klipsch that came before basically. For hour-long dedicated listening, you still might indeed want something friendlier on the ear, but for playing quietly all day long I'll have them over any B&W or KEF.

    Really don't understand all the accolades these speakers are getting. I test drove a pair and was so unimpressed. I thought the overall sound was on the brash/harsh side.
