    I like your videos! I like how you also give helpful hints as far as doing the job correctly along with reviewing the tool! example,, telling people to clean and lubricate the pistons, and especially to pump the brakes after the job is completed! Some novices may not know those important tips! And, you actually shown how the tool was used, where as other guy's videos just shown the tool without showing how it is used! Great videos you put out! Thank you!

    Always remember to remove the cap from the main break reservoir that not only make it easier to twist back it gives some where for the air in the lines to go...

    Don’t spray petroleum based stuff on seals, use silicone spray.

    • @RichieRich845
      @RichieRich845 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't use silicone spray it causes some seals to expand and become soft, use silicone paste instead, I don't know how they are different but they are or use the grease that comes with the brake pads.

    • @094340

      Silicone will destroy any rubber bushings near the assembly.

    How do you know piston goes right or left

  • @secondfirstsecond
    @secondfirstsecond 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, I save some questions
    1. You said on newer vehicle the rear brake piston is clockwise, so is it clockwise all for left and right side?
    2. You used anticlockwise tool to turn piston on rear left side on your vehicle, do you need to use clockwise tool for the right side?
    3. What happen if you wrongly turning the piston? Will it not pushed in?

    • @MrKentaroMotoPI
      @MrKentaroMotoPI ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some vehicles use different rotations on the left and right side. Some (all of mine) are clockwise on both sides. Watch the piston as you turn it. If it moves outward, just turn it the other way.

    • @lucasgroves137
      @lucasgroves137 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrKentaroMotoPI The piston will only turn the wrong way if you are attempting to turn it without the special tool, i.e., turning it without compressing it. If you attempt to compress it using the wind-back tool, but with the wrong sense of rotation, the piston will simply not move, since it will advance against the backing plate.

    • @lucasgroves137
      @lucasgroves137 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some models have left and right threads for rear caliper pistons on either side. But many do not, so it simply varies with the model of car. If you use the special wind-back tool, there is no problem trying out either the left- or right-handed threaded tool, since if you select the wrong one, the piston will simply not turn, because you are advancing the screw against the backing plate that comes with the tool. If the piston won't turn with one sense of thread, just choose the other one. 👍

    I’m trying to use this tool kit to push the piston back in for my 2016 Polaris slingshot sl. Everything was working fine until I dismounted the caliper to replace the break pads. Once I changed the break pads the piston came out and is not letting me push it back in with the tool set. Idk what to do I’m not a car guy I already tried using this set and releasing the break fluid thing too. The set fits good but I can’t turn the knob. Idk if it’s too hard or if something else is stoping it from turning

    How to take out the caliper before using this tools? We need to move the piston back and would some leverage helps? Can anyone enlighten me?

    • @spehropefhany
      @spehropefhany ปีที่แล้ว

      You just unbolt it, but the old worn brake pads are much thinner than the new ones so you need to compress the cylinder to get it to fit back on.

  • @henri6595
    @henri6595 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You provided an excellent explanation on how to use this set. I do have a few questions. Can I use a C clamp or giant pliers for the front instead? Would the giant pliers or C clamp work for the back calipers, or do I need a turning device (like this set)?

    • @GG-im1cb
      @GG-im1cb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Henry C large pump pliers or a C or G clamp will work on front callipers, but would not work on rear callipers with a screw in piston such as the rear callipers in this video.

    • @k-trix1652
      @k-trix1652 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Swagger Jacker believe it or not i use needle nose pliers to turn those type of rear brakes all the way in. Again, im not a technician or anything but i find it that it takes me longer to set up this tool then to just grab a set of pliers or c clamp.

    • @swaggerjacker1482
      @swaggerjacker1482 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      k- Trix yes you can do that too

    • @lucasgroves137
      @lucasgroves137 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@k-trix1652 Good for you, but that means your caliper pistons are easy to turn. Anyone thinking of copying your method should be aware that the pistons are often too stiff to be turned with pliers. Also, if the car is not so new, and the rubber boot gets damaged (e.g., by the pliers slipping off), it can be a real pain to source a new rubber boot, etc. As special tools go, the piston wind-back tool is a very sensible investment.
