Thanks for the great intro! I'm a 70yr old and just bought a pair of Garneau Course Boa ARC Snowshoes. I'm a runner so this should be interesting. Hope I don't break them. Thanks again!
Thank you Sarah, I am 62 yo,just purchased my first pair of snowshoes from Bob in Bennington VT. Looking forward to this winter. Thank you for all the basic information Peter Seeley
Hi, I'm Michele from Italy. I wanted to ask you what the size of the Dion competition snowshoes is in cm. I want to understand if they are regulatory. Do you have a link to advise me on the purchase? Here in Italy I don't know if they sell them. Thank you
Hi Sarah. What makes the Dion snowshoe your favorite? I'm looking for a new pair. Did you try other brands before the Dion became your favorite? I had Northern Lites running snowshoes, but found the straps uncomfortable on my feet, so sold them ad amm looking to try another brand. I also have an old pair of Atlas and the straps are comfortable enough, but they are a bigger shoe than I want. Thank you.
I went straight to Dions after trying a pair of rentals. They are secure and super durable. I did have a pair of atlas electras before this, but quickly sold those once I was ready to buy a pair of Dions. The dions are lightweight and I've never had discomfort with the straps.
I noticed general snow shoe size guidelines recommend longer snow shoes for heavier individuals. Do all racers regardless of size run 20 inch shoes? I'm 195 lbs and would appear to exceed the weight rating for the smaller shoes.
You would likely break the cleat on the bottom of the shoe if you wore them on pavement, but the Dion Ice Cleat is designed to withstand icy conditions.
You do get pretty wet if it's fresh, powder snow and hasn't been packed down. But a change of clothes after and you shouldn't be uncomfortable or too long.

Dion has a larger running snowshoe that might meet the load requirements you're looking for. Their 132 shoe goes up to 250lb load rating.
would these (or snowshoes in general) be suitable for icy/snowy pavement commuting?

those runners work? like you don't get soaked?

what a nonsense is that...snow shoes are made to not sink into deep snow...not to walk on 5 cm of snow or with them on 5 cm...
You better of cleaned your kitchen worktop after putting your smelly shoe on it.
