Thank you for showing in this video there is a way to get rid of those annoying popups. I just bought one of these last week. I gave you a like and sub for solving my problem.
Do you NEED a remote to use this? I plugged mine in and I can't even access my games. It's asking me something about a remote. The product says "PLUG AND PLAY." Very frustrating.
If you don't hit the " Store settings " after you've made your changes they don't stay so make sure to hit that option after you've changed it to your heart's content. Other than not mentioning that helpful video overall. Thank you.
For those having remote control trouble: for me it worked with a Thomson CS86 remote control (I think it's from a classic stereo sound system) and fresh batteries. I also had to point it at a certain angle - pointing it somewhat level to the GHCD unit seems to have helped. It didn't work with my 2440 classic tv remote control.
Dude this is a brilliant product! I've got a hardware-modded Gamecube en route so I can get HDMI but this looks like an awesome option as well and I'm surprised to see how much flexibility it has for fine-tuning the output :)
If you have a newer Samsung smart tv,the picture will look distorted and automatically makes the GCHD output 480i as it has the double liner on. I wonder if i were to use scart cables and connect it to the ossc if it’ll make a big difference with the picture.
The game cube only supports up to 440p. You'd have to hack the gc itself. The adaptors only read and output up to 480p because anything more than that would greatly reduce performance.
What can I do to get the remote to configure. I've bought multiple different remotes and I get the same result of it not being able to configure to change settings
I'd reach out to Eon Gaming via Twitter, they're very active. Make sure you're pointing directly right at the module itself otherwise it will not respond.
Just curious how are you getting it to run through 480 p on both input and output. Mine only says 480p on the out and 480i on the in. Not sure what difference it would make but i am curious. Thanks
In my case, I don't want to use it with HDMI. I'm trying to use the Wii component cables plugged into my Trinitron CRT. I get a garbled mess for the video. If I go into the remote-pairing mode, the video is clear. I am able to pair my remote, but when I finish and hit Enter, the settings menu doesn't come up. I'm pointing the remote at the GCHD but the screen simply says it needs a firmware update. I can do that... but I don't feel like I should have to. It SHOULD be ready to work upon purchase.
Thanks, thought mine was broken when all I saw was squiggly lines going Wii U component out to CRT TV. Turns out the line doubler is on by default and you have to go into the menu and turn it off. Now I want to try hooking it up to a CRT Monitor.
This was an incredibly interesting and informative video! Thank you so much for making this! I have been enjoying this device and a day hasn’t even passed yet. I do have a question. The TV I’m using is a Roku tv and I tried to follow the steps in this video, but I could not get the functions to be assigned to the buttons I would press on the remote, let alone the remote even able to link with this device. Is it because of the TV or something?
I hold onto the button but no menu pops up. Do I need to have a remote in order for the menu to show up? Also I am able to active progressive scan but once I do I lose all audio.
I just got this and cannot get any remote to work to access the IR menu. I’ve tried multiple universal remotes, Wii U gamepad, turned off the lights, stood up the console on its front... literally everything I can think of. It won’t sync. Any help? I contacted EON but they responded once and haven’t heard back again...
It sets the maximum resolution output basically. On some games the resolution changes depending on cut scene vs gameplay. Rogue Squad 3 is a perfect example of this.
Hey! This is amazing! I just bought the eon gamecube hdmi adapter from your review video the same day I saw it (it should arrive soon). I do have a question: when it comes to the gameboy player I heard that 240p was the go to resolution for the crisp gameboy look. I won't be homebrewing my gamecube and will use the gameboy player software that it came with. Should I constantly have to switch the resolutions manually each time I swap between gameboy player and regular gamecube games? Or can I have it automatically go to 240p whenever I turn on the gameboy player and return back to a higher p mode for every other gamecube game? Thanks for your help! love your review :)
Hey! I finally got my adapter and the change of quality is mind-blowing to me! But I do have a single issue I was wondering if you could help me out. My gamecube is PAL, and the plug and play exports and 576i by default. And I think the interlacing is making my screen shake (tiny earthquake) so I wanted to change it to progressive mode. However I could never get a remote to connect to it! The room is pitch black, and I tried 5 different brands of remotes. You think changing the mode actually changes the screen "Shakiness" or should I just stop trying altogether. And thank you so much :) I would not be able to enjoy my gamecube on a whole new level without your video popping up on my recommendation feed.
Hey! Thankfully I found a remote that works! (The timing of these things) So I am diddling away to see the right video output. And thanks for the contact for eon_gaming!
I knew about the Wii U gamepad working as a remote but I didn't feel like getting it, none of my remotes were working, but the last remote I tried was my air conditioner remote and it worked 😆😆😆
Great video Gary😎😎But what ever happened to the mod video for the Game Cube? Did I miss it? And will you ever do reviews about Genesis stuff? Thanks Gary.John🙂🙂🙂🙂
The mod video is filmed, it'll probably be done next week. I planned on working on that while in Germany. I have like 5 things shot I need to edit. What are you looking for Genesis-wise, always open to suggestions!
I tried 3 different IR controllers without any luck, is anyone here from Europe? I'm having a feeling that it might be something related to different IR standards (I don't even know if it's a thing)
My 480p mode option is greyed completely out. It won't switch to 480p? Why? Did I just waste 150 fucking dollars it's still piping 480i. I like how I'm not getting any answers from anyone.

Is there a home brew app that lets you force 1080i and would that work with the CGHD
I couldn't tell you, not anything I'm aware of. That would likely involve a hack of the GCHD itself

No idea, my IR remote just worked
Are you doing a video to compare this vs the component cable and Wii HDMI?
I don't have the component cables. But I'm planning on going the Wii comparison at some point
Can the remote still be used with the actual TV?
It absolutely can!

You can save settings
Love this. Gonna have to share it
Thanks brother!
What are the default settings that come with the GCHD out of curiosity?
240i/p, 260p, 480i/p, it runs off gcvideo. An open source code that all the adaptors out right now use.

Hey would an lg magic remote work for this?
If it is infrared it should.
The eon gchd does not force your screen into 4:3, which is actually very unfortunate. You have to go into your tv settings to change it.
