    I drove two hours with my heart set on purchasing the Embody. When I arrived at the authorized Herman Miller dealer, the salesman says, here is the Embody, but I think you'll like the Aeron better. He pulled out both, I sat in each and there was absolutely NO comparison... The Aeron was much more comfortable and I left with two (open box at a third of MSRP).

    15 years ago I used the Aeron chair for a couple of years at work. Re-recording mixer, reaching to mouse, keyboard and mixer a lot. Mixed feelings. Great during hot summers, nice for relaxation, few problems. I‘m 6‘1(1.84m) 95 kg at the time in a decent way. Then a friend of mine invested in an Embody for his work space. I sat in that thing for four hours working and felt nothing. Like I‘d been relaxing the whole time. That‘s how I‘m making my choice today on investing in an Embody chair. This video confirmed and expanded what I knew about both chairs, so thank you for that.

    Definitely embody. I recently sold my 2015 aeron for a 2017 embody... the difference is night and day.
    The embody is immediately comfortable and stays that way, plus it just feels amazing, like sitting on a fluffy cloud. The aeron is kind of comfortable, but hurts, and my legs were going numb, I gave it a week and it just wasn't improving. For reference I'm 5'6", 165, I had a size B aeron, I just couldn't adjust to the pain no matter how much I adjusted it, it never felt right. Embody is an amazing chair, totally worth it imo.

    Personal experience: My logitech embody has somehow become bottomed out and I feel like I can't sit upright enough because of it. Had it for around 8 months now. Probably going to return it and possibly get an aeron, for I cannot get active enough and feel like I am sinking. Also I feel like the mid part of the back support was never upright enough for me. Good video man.

    Went to my local Herman Miller retailer today and tested both the remastered Aeron and the embody. Both were super comfortable but the deal breaker was the Aeron feeling too cold. As you said, if I was going to use the chair for relaxing then the Aeron takes the cake over the embody. However I’m mainly using the chair for gaming or work in the upright position and the embody just felt like it was properly hugging my back in the right places whereas it felt like I was sinking into the lumbar support of the Aeron. I ended up going with the embody and I think it was the right choice! Thanks for your review!

    The Aeron is an insanely comfortable chair and it feels like you're floating in it. I can easily sit in it for hours on end. That being said my body naturally fits it well (I am shorter/skinnier and have a size B) and also I took the time to adjust it properly. It is definitely a love it or hate it chair. I can see why people prefer the Embody and I'd love to try one but man I really enjoy my Aeron (Remastered, much better than the classic version.)

  • @__vha
    @__vha ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I tried both at the store today I am still so undecided. I love how comfortable the Aeron feels plus the back support and forward tilt is so great but the chair does feel a bit more “restrictive” than the Embody. I found more freedom to move in the Embody but the Aeron gave me that completely weightless feeling, absolutely no pressure points anywhere whatsoever. The Embody was comfortable and I loved how it adapted to my back when I was leaning but the Aeron truly has this weightless feeling when you sit in it.
    Edit: Bought the embody.

    Do you still switch between the chairs? I've heard people saying that you need to get used to the embody and this may some days or even weeks. And if you constantly switching between, I can't imagine how this can work out, but maybe the body "learns" to sit in both chairs at some point?

    • @rolandsst.6921

      I'm programmer and I'm leaning towards Aeron for typing all day. 2 years ago I tested Aeron in shop for couple minutes, I liked it. Chairs tension was loose and I had to use abs to sit in almost straight position, I asked consultant: "is it possible to lock Aeron in sitting straight position?", because chair leaned far back when I sat in relaxed state, the consultant didn't know how to configure Aeron, so he said: "no it is not possible, this is special rocking back solution" :D I was sad, then I watched some youtube videos about Aeron and found out that there is special switch/lock, that locks Aeron so it doesn't lean back. Sitting straight was one of my concerns - would I be able to type on keyboard for hours without arm and neck pain and would I be able to reach keyboard, mouse while sitting in Aeron.

    • @HKsmash
      @HKsmash  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As someone who is a project manager by day I align with this. On the left side there is a switch that helps you lock the chair in place when leaning forward so you won’t be able to rock back and forth. I think the aeron will serve gamers needs really well, but it also triumphs for the office workers like engineers, devs and admins.

  • @rolandsst.6921
    @rolandsst.6921 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Did you felt any leg/back pain, discomfort from sitting in Aeron? (like from plastic edges after sitting for hours). Is it easy to sit straight in Aeron while typing on keyboard?

    • @HKsmash
      @HKsmash  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question. I found the Aeron was best for work related tasks like typing. Anytime I felt any discomfort in my legs I would adjust the chair to sit forward more which took pressure off. The embody however I don’t have this problem.

      @@dbbuster1238 I ended up with the Aeron but I am a bit conflicted. It's relieved a lot of my back problems and it is great for productivity (the main reason I got it), but that initial cloudlike feeling has kinda gone away. I guess what I'm saying is that I wouldn't call it comfortable, I would call it functional. It's a supportive chair and definitely nails what its intended to do, but sometimes I think the Embody would have been a more dual purpose chair. It may not have been as good for productivity as the Aeron, but I feel it may have done productivity well enough and also be comfortable too. I am torn but I think primarily for my goals which is to still down at the computer for long hours and get work done without having pain in the back I made the right choice.

    @HKsmash How is it going? I have herniated the two lowest disks on my lumbar and my Embody just arrived today. I have an old Aeron at work an the forward tilt is AWESOME, I leave it on all time... But it is the older model with just sacral support, almost 10 years... Could you please do a comparison between sitting posture in the forward tilt of the new aeron vs sitting forward on the Embody?
    I have two questions:
    Do you feel that you are supported on your back when using the forward tilt on the Aeron? That's optimal posture.
    Also, the Embody seat is more soft, can you use it as advantage comparable the same amount of inclination as you get with forward tilt on the Aeron?
    Thank you!
    I live in Brasil and those chairs are GALACTICALLY expensive here (over 1year of housebills) so was a hefty investment and exchanging the chairs would be serious bizz...

      Thanks for the comment! I do feel like my back is supported with forward tilt on aeron and I think this chair has more options when it comes to positioning. I do however prefer the soft material on the embody and having the option to adjust the angle on how my legs rest is a great option to have. It sounds like with your back issues maybe the aeron would be better but please consult a doctor or ergonomic specialist to get the right suggestion.

    In one video, Aeron reviewer commented that it's painful to sit with spreaded legs because front side edges won't let sitting comfortably(it hurts), and that its impossible to sit with close legs for hours, I wonder if this is a major/unavoidable downside/problem? Or maybe his chair size was too small and other Aeron users don't have the same problem? Or maybe he try to spread legs too much? :D Have you felt or encountered the same problem for sitting for hours?

    • @HKsmash
      @HKsmash  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have noticed this as well when sitting for extended periods but I was not in my aeron long enough to allow this to happen often. I did find myself leaning forward with the aeron and allowing myself to naturally balance. I think the plastic bezel on the base causes this, where the embody has this area covered and can be adjusted.

    "They're different from the standard Aeron and Standard Embody".
    Uhhh... m8. From their own FAQ:
    "HOW IS THIS CHAIR DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL AERON?
    Ergonomically, Aeron for Gaming has all the same features as the original Aeron. The gaming version is available in a dark black to better complement your gaming set-up."
    It's literally just a standard Aeron, in black.
    The Embody is slightly different, it has a bit of extra foam in the seat & back. Other than that and the colour scheme, that's the same, too.

    • @HKsmash
      @HKsmash  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      M8, I think you might have missed a few things I mentioned here. The difference I mentioned in the video which I encourage you to go back and give another listen is that the aeron has all of the “bells and whistles” added on with a special color. So if I go and purchase a standard Aeron it won’t have what already built onto the gaming version. Hope that clarifies.

      I'm also around 6'3 and wondering if the Emody will fit me since there is also no headrest on these chairs. Could be tricky without any support up there :D
      I think think you can add a 3rd party headrest on the Aeron.
      Please let me know if you decided on one of these and how it turned out @Khanites

    Doubt that you're sponsored by HM tbh, I haven't seen a single youtuber be sponsored by HM and there's no way they would sponsor someone with only 4k subs

      I’m not entirely sure I owe you anything, Brian. If the fact that me and my smaller TH-cam channel being supported by Herman Miller bothers you that much I’d suggest contacting them directly and maybe report this video and the other videos I made for them to TH-cam.

      @@HKsmash alright bro whatever ya say, but ok make up non existent sponsorships to make your weak channel look good

      If I were making up sponsorships I would be subject to heavy fines and legal issues. Clearly my channel isn’t very weak because, well, here you are :)

    Your not sponsored by Herman Miller...Thats cringy man. Id ask for proof but youll spin it that you dont owe me anything or come up with something since your lying and cant prove it! Downvoted for lying

      If you feel that me, my channel or this video is breaking FTC guidelines I’d suggest as I have to others to simply report the video. Or you can continue to hate for no reason. Your choice. Your downvote helps so thank you!
