"Stumbling to victory" is definitely the best description of what it feels like trying to get into and to make it in this industry I've heard. Really needed those words, thank you.
Hey man another indie Dev here, I am that lucky one which actually finish their game. But Overall i was so happy it is ready to show to the world, but another bad side of solo game dev is marketing, game didn't do well in sales, not because is it a bad game but many people don't even know game exist... anyway good luck on your journey!
Hey Mark! Great to see you doing what you were always seemingly destined to do! 😂 Game looks fantastic, i' be sure to follow along and wishlist. For button's, I'd say the N64 start button is nostalgic for me 😂 failing that, a big red nuke launch button Keep ploughing forward man, you're smashing it!
Thanks Boyd, I appreciate it! The N64 start button would be awesome! I like your thinking. I could do both 😁 Thanks for the button suggestions and support!
If you're interested, there's a fellow Finnish developer working on a game called "road to Vostok". Not sure if I really care all that much for the game itself, but his solo dev path and attitude are really something to feed inspiration from.
for as long as i can remember loving games and wishing to make them. I finally got the guts to start learning game development last month, as a hobby in hopes that one day it can be my main income source. But my biggest fear is not having any skill as an artist, meaning i can't make my own assets and models, and that gets expensive. But your video and your story has motivated me to push forward and keep trying. Sounds cringy, but it's true :) Tks
Hey there, that's fantastic! Keep going and take the time you need to produce the game/ features you want. I understand what you mean about not being an artist, it can be hard. However if you do want to learn I would recommend giving blender ago, there are loads of tutorials out there and it's free! I personally use Maya though. I really appreciate the support, Thank you. Best of luck on your project, drop us a tweet or a message when your game is ready to share😁
A lot of [core advices, like when struggling]. Amazing and practical . Bless you Also, these Buttons should feel bad and should repent [from complying to External inputs]. Buttons should self reflect.. Unacceptable. Sorry, i can't stop coming up with button narratives, ignore me XD
I love that you are sharing you're thoughts on this subject. I've started doing interviews on my channel with other game devs to talk about this and help guide new indie game developers into the scene. I've sent you an email with an invitation. I'd love to share your insight on our channel :)
Hey there! I wouldn't describe it as easy, but I'm very lucky to have a great group of employers/ studios and professional relationships around me. I suppose it will depend on your background/experience, but a lot of it is about forming strong relationships with employers/ studios in your field. From my experience, having a good portfolio is key and Linkedin is a great place to start! I hope that helps! :)
