@@chrisfix i have been busy with school, and just havent watched a lot of different channels, mostly the same ones Like DarkViperAU, MemerMan and TommyInnit
Good video! I just have two tips I'd like to add that may help you and others. Heat the female side of the fastener instead of the head of the bolt. You want the female threads to expand away from the bolt. Second is to always start removing the exhaust at the rear. This way it maintains some more rigidity so you're not working on a part that's flopping everywhere. Same goes for assembly, start at the front and work backwards.
If you do not have a powersaw, I can recommend a pipe cutter chain. It is almost as fast as a powersaw and you always have enough space for it, which might be a problem with a handsaw.
How about a video on microfiber towel care. How do you store them? How you clean them? Do certain colors have certain jobs/ uses? What brand and sizes do you use? How do you take care of your wax cloth cleaning and storing of it? I think it’ll be an amazing video idea!
There`s a reason for the spring loaded bolts. This connection is kinda flexible due to the graphite sealing ring inside which glides in the panned tube nearby. After this fix it is not longer flexible, which maybe causes tension in the exhaust system and issues like breaking, blowing pipes.
Hell by the time you buy all the tools needed to do a wrong fix, may have well taken it in for quick fix for 40.00, or welding. I like Chris' stuff but average car monkeys are Not going have or have the money to buy extractor kits, wheel jacks and cut-alls on hand. Disappointed with this video.
@@325-k9k Except that 99% of the tools would rust from non use being for only the one job and therefore a waste of cash easiest to goto a wreckers yard and get the whole exhaust for nix. Im a Kiwi we hate paying mechanics to sit around doing diddly squat for $65+ par hour

I guess it's worth mentioning that it's harder than it looks like. So there's a chance that you may stuck with partially dissembled exhaust and having few rusted bolts that are not going anywhere. Combine this with axle stand/constant bench press position, much more angle grinder work and maybe bad weather conditions doesn't make that easier. If it's your first time, think of a plan B if you fail, and if there is a chance to find column lift or at least a pit, I'd go that way. Some pipes are trickier than others. Imagine that you have to cut off the flange, but there is no room for any couplers.
Remember how we were in talks of designing some custom turn signals for your hummer. Emailed back and forth a couple times and then you asked for designs. I took my time to make some designs and then you never got back to me. Real cool dude here.
You haven't upgraded your TH-cam so now it also allows users to smell what the channel shows? It was so people could learn to cook but it helps to in situations like this
@Judy 21 y.o - check my vidéó straight pipes sounds ok most of the times. It doesn't adds the horrible sound of fart cans and adds a little growl or roar to the car. I have a straight pipe muffler delete E36 325i (still have cats and resonators) and sounds nice to my opinion
Chris is a nice good guy, a real gentleman with warm heart and full of kindness. However life is not easy to Chris. Somehow his cars and family car or friend's car always encounter problem. Sometimes leak blinker fluid, sometimes loose muffler bearing, sometimes broken piston return springs, and so so many weird things. God bless Chris to keep the dinosaur doesn't drink all the coolant in his car.
7:09 WOW, I really wish I knew about this tip during the 2 years I worked at Jiffy Lube! I had my own technique for removing those sockets from stripped drain plugs, but this looks WAY easier! I'll definitely be using this technique next time! Thanks Chris
I always get excited when Chris makes a vid involving his mazda. I have a 96 ranger, same color, so its like hes literally showing me how to work on my truck. Also was that the old hole you used the plasma cutter on? lol
Chris, a trick I learned a while ago is to use muffler cement when connecting 2 pipes. It helps them slide easy and keeps you from having to take apart the joint after you clamp them. The pipes are diveted and harder to seal I think. Also, I noticed the right side pipe at the back of the Audi was split from the expander. Muffler Cement would help seal that too. Lastly, a question. Why not cut out the Audi's flex pipe and clamp in a new flex?

This way it maintains some more rigidity so you're not working on a part that's flopping everywhere. Same goes for assembly, start at the front and work backwards.
this is a certified hood classic.
Yeah
finally, chris gets his hood pass

After this fix it is not longer flexible, which maybe causes tension in the exhaust system and issues like breaking, blowing pipes.
you are 100% right.
The other issue this gives you some know how so you can be BS’d by the shop
@@325-k9k There's a difference between "Repair" v Replace-shop or at home..this is about Repair.
You've grown so much Chris! I remember when you had 100k subscribers. What a journey it's been!😍🥰
I was loss on fixing my exhaust. By watching your video I am confident that I can fix mine. Thanks for such a complete and concise explanation of the topic.

I have never heard Chris pronounce water as “wah-ter” in all my years of watching his channel, and I am glad to say, there’s a first for everything
I noticed that too. Later in the video, he reverted to saying "wooder".
Time stamp?
Wooder
I like how Chris always has a backstory to his “do not do this” examples. Shows that even mechanics started out making mistakes. 👍🏼
Me: rebuilt an 86 fiero 2m4 that had its iron block crack and all 4 cylinders knock at the same time
Me: ya, we all make mistakes and we all grow
Also me: building race cars and about to be a manager at a new shop located at a race track being built right now
Also me: how the duck did i get here...
The quality of your videos is outstanding. Far superior to any other channel. To the point and very informative. Chris fix 5/5 binge material
New viewers to Chris' channel: "Where can I buy that Soapy Wooder he uses?"
Me, a seasoned CHrisFix subscribed intellectual: *chuckles*
Remember how we were in talks of designing some custom turn signals for your hummer. Emailed back and forth a couple times and then you asked for designs. I took my time to make some designs and then you never got back to me. Real cool dude here.
"You can clearly hear and smell the exhaust leak"
No I can't Chris.
Unmute the smell feature on your computer. Mute it again before changing to the "cute skunk" videos - you'll thank me later.
You haven't upgraded your TH-cam so now it also allows users to smell what the channel shows? It was so people could learn to cook but it helps to in situations like this
if Chris said we can, then we did
@Judy 21 y.o - check my vidéó straight pipes sounds ok most of the times. It doesn't adds the horrible sound of fart cans and adds a little growl or roar to the car. I have a straight pipe muffler delete E36 325i (still have cats and resonators) and sounds nice to my opinion
Best way to start off a day.
Didn't you already have an exhaust leak video?
Yes that was using products to "clog" the leak. This is wayyyy different.
I love it when he says out with the old and in with the new
Chris is a nice good guy, a real gentleman with warm heart and full of kindness.
OMG!!! That set up to get under the car...PRICELESS!! Thank you sooooooo much..you have solved my "I wish I had a pit" woes. You're a FREAKING genius!
Another great video! Thanks dude
Chris, I am so thankful for you sharing your knowledge with us! You are very adept with car repairs! I enjoy watching your videos!

As always a very good clear and concise "how to" video in automotive repair. Great video.
I love that exhaust pipe expander too. Really great idea.
Finallyyyyyyyy, I've been learning everything on your channel 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I'm glad you're learning a lot from the channel! Thanks!
can't wait for a straight pipe guide

He already has done it to his red mustang, a video
I absolutely love the transitional edit cuts Chris does to his videos.
I love how professional your videos are 😎👌🏼 thank you chris
Shoutout to Chris for having over 8 million subscribers and still reading all the comments.
I do my best haha
I always get excited when Chris makes a vid involving his mazda. I have a 96 ranger, same color, so its like hes literally showing me how to work on my truck.
Also was that the old hole you used the plasma cutter on? lol

The weather must cooperate all these years for you to do these awesome videos outdoors amazing so clean
Man, idk where Chris fix be finding these tools.😂😂. He be pulling tools I never knew existed 😂
Be sure your dog has the emergency brake on when he starts the car while you're filming underneath it.
Why not cut out the Audi's flex pipe and clamp in a new flex?

i did this for my dad 06 sienna and it was soo bad. word of advice the right tools are needed. an impact was VERY useful with the right sockets too.
