- Weirdly enough, as someone who unfortunately grew up in an extremely religious town, actually explaining the 7 deadly sins was hard to articulate. As well as the history of it. With how widespread Christianity is, I probs didn't have to explain it much, but I think we should all be on the same page so difficult task here we go.

I can see why people would assign Lust to Vil, but Malleus works too- simply because of Malleyuu. Regardless of what kind of relationship it is, from Malleus's pov, it makes sense.
I can understand if Malleus really is tied to lust, and I believe that Yu is gonna be one of the factors that could possibly lead to Malleus's overblot. Yeah, Malleus desires a true friend, and when he meets Yu for the first time and they don't know who he is, since they've only heard about Malleus, but doesn't know what he looks like, Malleus saw a chance to make a connection with someone who won't fear him. I mean, why else did Malleus not tell Yu his name and allowed them to call him whatever they want?
@@smartguy458 I agree, since, correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t lust tied more so to appearance and a sexual desire? Malleus just seems to want a friend, I don’t see any sort of innuendo behind his actions. If you’re a malleyuu shipper please don’t dox me i have a wife and kids /j
@@veneraliaa In a general sense, yes, but lust doesn't always have to be sexual desire. Take Suguru Kamoshida (the first major villain from Persona 5), his biggest flaw is lust, as well, since he sexually harassed the members of the volleyball team, and tried to force Ann into having relations with him, but he mostly lusted for the days where he was somebody, since he was an Olympic athlete before he became a coach at Shujin Academy. Basically, he held on to his past glory and didn't want to let it go. So, if lust ends up being Malleus's biggest flaw, it would have to stem from his own lust to keep his friendship with Yu alive, and if it gets to a point where he takes it too far, it might culminate into him becoming another overblot victim.
@@veneraliaa lust is typically synonymous with sexual desire, but it can also be defined as a strong desire for anything. For example, power, money, ice cream, etc. So in Malleus' case, yes, lust would be fitting as he really wants a friend, someone who doesn't associate him with his status of royalty and someone who isn't there simply out of obligation. This is also directly said in the video so maybe you commented before watching.

I'm guessing Malleus will overblot when Crowley announces he's finally found a way to send us home, and our dragon prince is suddenly faced with the idea of losing his first real friend.

Lust is about wanting something that gives them pleasure, sometimes it's food, or make up, or new clothes, or for Malleus, a real friend. Lust is about longing for that something, and it can develop other sins to get to it. I can totally understand who think he could be pride or wrath, but this nebulous concept is what lust is about.
It could also be possible if it's only going by the 7 most known sins (the acedia tidbit was fascinating but might be too obscure for this scenario). That Grim as the possible 8th overblot might be a combination of ALL the sins as he ate all the rocks therefore absorbing ALL the sins of the others
Also Malleus could maybe be wrath if you put Vil as lust and Riddle as Pride
Good point. Since we know that the black crystals left after Overblot is a large amount of blot left over, it stands to reason that it is also full of negative energy from the person who fell victim to Overblot. And since Grim has been eating the black crystals, he has also been absorbing all that blot and negative energy in his body, and after the 5th Overblot, all that negative energy started to effect Grim which caused him to go feral.

Well, now that book 7 has been released, I'm gonna share my opinion on Malleus being lust. (Includes spoilers for book 7)
For this to work out, we need to completely understand the sin of lust.
The sin of lust doesn't completely revolve around sexual cravings, it's rather more an overwhelming desire or wanting something that gives them pleasure.
In Malleus's case, he longs for a friend. Somebody who was willing to talk to him without being intimidated or frightened of him because of his status.
Although, yes, he does have Lilia Silver and Sebek, Lilia is his guardian, then Silver and Sebek are his bodyguards, just as the video had pointed out.
And perhaps his own dorm is afraid of speaking to him, solely because he's the prince of Briar Valley.

In book 7, we had told Malleus that Crowley found a way for us to go home. Although Malleus had appeared to be 'happy' for us, he had the fear of losing his first true friend.
And Lilia also revealed that he was going to be dropping out of NRC, for (currently) unknown reasons.
Malleus was scared of losing the two people important to him, which lead to him doing a selfish and or impulsive decision.
At Lilia's farewell party, he had arrived late despite being invited. He said he had a 'gift' for not only Lilia, but for everyone.
Malleus used his signature spell, which had put (supposedly) the whole school to sleep.
In their sleep, they were dreaming of a reality they longed for. Such as Sebek, who was dreaming that the farewell party was actually a celebration for Lilia entering his 4th year.
The whole island was covered in thorns, almost as if Malleus wanted to protect it.
Malleus did this with (most likely) no consideration to the consequences, or there's a chance he knew what was going to happen, but went through with it anyway, because he didn't want to lose us. Not necessarily the player only, but Lilia as well.

I would like to say that gluttony can not only mean eating lots of food but also not feeling satisfied. Like say you eat and eat and eat yet you aren’t full and satisfied, its kinda like that.

Also from my knowledge gluttony is overindulgence in what you have which is why food is the main example as those in the upper classes used to eat as much as possible instead of what was needed therefore leading many to believe it only talked of food when in reality you can overindulge yourself in most things
This might just be insanity or overthinking on my part. But what if the first years aren't actually necessary or even supposed to be apart of the story.
Let me explain my theory or thought process. As we all know each of the overblot victims are meant to represent one of the great seven, whichever one their dorm is based on. But all of the other main student cast could be connected to at least one other major character in their dorm's story.
Heartslabyul: Riddle is the Queen of Heats as previously stated. But the other four although each representing a card solder, the two third years also seem to connect to another main character in Alice in Wonderland. Trey's being the King of Hearts as he was much more willing to just go along with Riddle(similar to how the King interacted with the Queen) and could be seen/is as the other ruler of the dorm. Meanwhile Cater seems similar to the Mad Hatter with his much more fun-loving and party animal personality. Then Ace and Deuce are just card soldiers who played a bigger part than the others.
Savanaclaw. Leona being Scar obviously. Then Ruggie being the main trio of hyenas that helped Scar. Not only was Ruggie, Leona's right hand man he was the one who typically acted them out. Meanwhile Jack doesn't seem connected to any role at all.
Octavinelle: Azul is Ursula and the twins Jade and Floyd are the two eels that help out Ursula. That's all there is to it. There are no first years in this dorm.
Scarbia: Jamil is Jafar. But Kalim also is rather interesting to me role wise. You see Kalim could be the old sultan and Jamil is his right hand man just as Jafar was to him, not to mention the hypnosis is also a direct same thing. But he also has some similarities with Jasmine towards his passion. There is also a rather popular theory that I've seen that seems to connect Kalim to the Gennie, and that his real unique magic is wish granting. I also feel he has some connection to Aladdin, although I won't go into detail about that.
Pomfiore: Vil is the Evil Queen and Rook is the huntsman. I feel that is something everyone can agreee with. But Epel doesn't seem to have a connection to anyone in the orginal story as well.
Ignhyde: Idia is Hades and Ortho.... I don't really know what to say as I haven't seen this dorms part yet.
Diasomnia: Malleus is Malfacent. Silver has some very clear connection to sleeping beauty. With his problems sleeping everywhere and anytime as well as the animal's interest and care for him. And with Lilia adopted him as well as long history I would say he's connected to the three fairies that took care of sleeping beauty until her story actually started with the prick. But once again Sebek doesn't seem to have any role that connects with him.
So my theory is that the first aren't supposed to be there or really a main part of the story. At least THEIR dorms story. And are instead the main characters for Yuu or the players story. As they are the only ones who soildly come back no matter how far along the story is. Because in case you didn't notice the people from dorms where an overblot has already been defeated only majorly come back in the next part(except for in the 6th book and a little in the fourth as they get kidnapoed or leave respectively).

True, the first years don't have any considerable connection to the original stories. But I think that's why they're so, important. As a variation, something in TWST has to be different from the classics we're used to. So it makes sense that new characters are added to aid the player in changing the ending. The punchline is literally; Let us show you a real happily ever after.
Epel is based on the Poison Apple, and I believe Sebek is based on Maleficent’s lightning abilities from the original movie.
@@samthebananacat3649 What about Jack?! He's the first and only case by far to not be connected to the original in any way. It's not like any of the other stories have wolves, either...

The wiki says that he may be named after Jack London, author of the novel White Fang (a story about a wild white wolfdog) and Disney produced a live-action film based off of it in 1991, but he seems to have zero correlation with the Lion King franchise.

The link between the twist characters and the sins were pretty solid ( my rotten mind went to the obey me otome game when i say the title-ahem) Though i see it in some characters most are blurred lines between few. Nonetheless, Great vid!

I agree with the way you linked each characters to sins, even Malleus. After thinking about it, I can't see him with another sin... Wrath, Sloth maybe? But Riddle and Leona are better fits for them.
I think it's one of those thoeries that don't need to be officially proven, just fit with the story. So far it works, we'll see what happens in Chapter 7~

I like the connections between the overblot students and the Seven Deadly Sins.
It is similar to my theory of the unspoken criteria that qualifies Disney female protagonists as a Princess of Heart candidate in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Barring any metatextual details having to do with promoting new films at the time of each game's release, limited technology restricting the story from the first game, and also through tidying up the Kingdom Hearts lore in general because dear lord give Nomura a break after the rewrites he had to make to the latter half of union x and the entirety of III...i always found it odd that they never captured Mulan or Ariel despite them being legit princesses and why they thought Wendy Darling from Peter Pan was one of the Princesses of Heart despite debates saying she shouldnt qualify as a Disney Princess.
But then i looked deeper and realized each selected Princess was most likely a representative of one of the 7 Heavenly Virtues.
Aurora and Rapunzel are Humility
Belle is Chastity
Cinderella and Elsa are Diligence
Snow White and Anna are Kindness
Jasmine is Charity
Alice is Temperance
And Kairi is Peace.
And it is only when one of each virtue is present that Kingdom Hearts can be summoned.
I plan on making an anime reimagining of the KH series to not only tidy up the story, add character to those who lacked it in the games, and answer unanswered questions, but also in the hopes that when/if i catch the anime up with the games i could keep fans occupied with spinoff chapters following stuff like Mickey's Keyblade awakening, Yen Sid as a Keyblade weilder in his prime, and so on, as well as connecting the lore of KH with the Descendants film/book/animated/multimedia series, as well as the games Epic Mickey, Disney Mirrorverse, and Disney Twisted Wonderland, while Nomura works on fine tuning the latest game of the series or needsto delay the release unexpectedly. As there are a number of connections they seem to have with each other. From how blot monsters and the overblot phenomenon could be connected to the Creation of the Heartless, to how Twisted Wonderland and Descendants could take place in the future of KH after the world is finally restored. (Based on the first games lore). There is also the fact that Epic Mickey, Twisted Wonderland and Mirrorverse have an emphasis on magic mirrors acting as portals to different lands. While not as commonplace in epic mickey there is a world beyond Mickey's mirror where Oswald the Lucky Rabbit resides. And i plan to incorporate him into Mickey's backstory for the KH Anime.
Personally, I like Vil with Envy (of Neige) and Jamil with Pride (thinking in that scene where he makes everybody to say him compliments), bc both the queen and Jafar also kinda matches those sins...? But I love your interpretation tho, its the most accurate that I have seen.

I think malius overblots when we potentially find a way home and he doesn't want us to go linking with the longing for a true friend cuz we're the only one who doesn't care about his status.
If the 7 deadly sins theory is true, I see it more as a cosmetic choice or coincidence. Maybe even symbolic based on how each of the characters act and how it fits them from when they Overblot/ snap
I wondered about this connection to the dorms back in chapter three of the English version. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the idea and concept of the Seven Deadly Sins was a thread connecting the seven dorms planted by Toboso. I also wondered early in the game is maybe the students are actually dead and NRC is something like the afterlife or like a "way-station" to the afterlife, but I don't know if this is a widespread theory. Anyway, very much enjoyed your video and analysis!
About the students being dead, Crowley did say in the prologue that the design of the gates which look like coffins represent a parting with our former work and a rebirth into a new one, so it could be possible.
Idia's sin also works along side his situation with STIX or whatever it's spelled: he asked when being brought to the island of woe "are mom and dad not there?", gives off the attitude he doesn't want to be there, and states he rather be in his room playing video games, and how instead of resisting ortho for the job he was givin he was very quick to abandon his watchman position
I agree with Malleus being lust because he has shown in chapter 5 and other events that he is willing to go out of his way for MC just to make us happy. (Even if he is a bit clumsy with his efforts at times.) He has also been VERY playful towards us too, to the point where everyone is shocked that he would be like that since he has only been seen as this powerful and scary person. (They act like he a member of the maifa. lol)

Can I ask you something, what about the "Ace Trappola Betrayal Theory". Hence his last name Trappola means trap in Italian. But the question is that who is Ace gonna betray?
I have this strange feelings that Ace might be based on Alice(The protagonist of Alice in Wonderland) or the Knafe of Hearts(The Queen of Hearts Assassin.)
That's someone's specific theory, right? Isn't her name Mia or something? I haven't read it in a long time, but if we're going off last names for the theory, I would guess that maybe Ace does something and at first it doesn't seen consequential, and then later it turns out what he did was ✨bad ✨ Trappola is a card game so I'd guess maybe that would factor into? His actions seem like fun and games until it turns out that's not the case and he did something unintentially? I don't know honestly, it's been over a year since I've read Mia's (?) post.
And honestly he could be. There are a couple of characters who, although they're def twisted from someone specific, have a lot of traits shared with other Disney characters. Like Cater being the 4 of Diamonds but also being hella similar to Cinderella. Ace could be a similar case.

@@princessmacarons9347 What I found strange about Ace too was the way Heartslabyul was presented in the presentation video wasn't what I expected as I thought that we'd have Ace and Deuce at Riddle's left while we'd have Cater and Trey at Riddle's right. However, they show us only Ace at Riddle's left while all the others are on Riddle's right and Riddle was also facing Ace. Moreover, the cause of overblots that we see from each character follows a certain pattern : the overblots are mostly provoked by the house for which the previous overblotted person belonged. As a result, Heartslabyul caused Leona's overblot, Savanaclaw provoked Azul's overblot, Octavinelle provoked Jamil's overblot, Kalim (Scarabia) and Rook (though he's Pomefiore) caused Vil's overblot, Pomefiore caused Idia's overblot (through Ortho who approached the Underworld). It could probably foreshadow that Ace may become the next dorm leader ig as he's the one who provoked Riddle's overblot
I just saw Ace and Deuce akin to Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb since I thought the characters all derived specifically from the movie that represents their house. The way the boys butt head a lot yet almost always come in a pair reminds me of those two
I have always thought that Vanity would fit Vil best. Because lets be honest here, he can be quite vain at times.

Honestly, I know that grim obviously probably will overbolt.
But, really the question for me [or rather theory] is, and IF yuu/MC overbolts, do you think that Yuu would be represented by the goat/ram?
I mean for one thing: everyone thinks that yuu is a Disney princess, at least in the representation of who they are in the story [and tbh I think they can relate to a LOT of the princesses in different ways]
But, if they do perhaps overbolt [I mean, based on a few theories I have seen and thought of, whether it be the camera, having too much bad magic around them, etc.] I can't help but think that if this is probably the main inspo, then maybe Yuu just becomes something related to that, or even something close to something in the bible?
Personally, I think that if Yuu were to overbolt it could maybe be with Grim [as in they overbolt at the same time and there is some kind of thing that relates to that] or after grim does
And personally my theory is that Grim represents Self-indulgence which In the bible is: excessive or unrestrained gratification of one's appetites, desires, or whims.
While Yuu if they overbolt might relate to Trauma, stress, homesickness, or hopelessness. [?]
Heck, I even thought about the angel of death or the Horseman of the Apocalypse for a main thing because when it comes to Yuu there is not an exact answer of what they could represent other than:
Trauma [Found out that they can't go home, They witnessed overbolts, people getting harmed over those bolts, etc.]
Stress [They are of course around people over bolting in like a time frame of 6 months, and then they have to stay in that place for an unknown amount of time and have to adapt to a place with magic.]
Homesickness [they have mentioned going home several times and Crowley never gets back to them]
Hopelessness [This goes along with the homesickness, they don't know if they are ever going to go home, and Crowley isn't even getting back to them]

Going on what we have, I would switch a few around (really half of them). Leona can be argued for Sloth, but Malleus’s Unique Magic literally puts people to sleep. Jamil fits more with Lust than Malleus, he only wants the Housewarden to have power and freedom (not to mention look at how he’s dressed in his overblot). Vil fits Envy more because of his one-sides rivalry with Neige. So Leona is Pride, Jamil is Lust, Vil is Envy, and Malleus is Sloth.

Honestly with the end of book 6 I think that Malleus issue is going to be his struggles to connect to people and the fact that people will leave him. I think the core of it is the realization that Silver and Yuu have considerably shorter lifespan than his. And maybe Sobek too. And while they wouldn’t abandon him willingly they will still age and die faster than him. But the catalyst is going to be Lillia that clearly stated he was going into retirement and so it’s practically sure that Malleus is going to see it as his closest confidant leaving him purposefully like his grandmother did. So yeah next chapter is going to be fun😢

I think the difference in lust and gluttony fx. is that, if you really REALLY want that strawberry, and it's pure mouth -adult content-, but you only eat one to truly enjoy it. Where as gluttony will consume and consume and consume. Malleus might be content with just 1, where as Grim would eat the whole trey. Maybe?
