She loves animals and cartoons and to her, furries are as real as it gets and she is ABSOLUTELY in love with the concept her excitement is purely amazing.
I'm 40 and I never experienced ageism in the fandom, it was always from people outside the fandom. I've told "aren't a little too old to play dress up?" and things like that, but it was never from other furries.

I'm in my 60's now. I have always been a furry, I just really didn't know there was a group until fairly recently that loved anthropomorphic animals. I'm trying to make friends in the community, but I am afraid my age just skeeves 'em out. Wish everyone would understand that age doesn't change who you are unless you let it.
Great video, well said. The fandom can be such a fun community to be in, and age should indeed be irrelevant (except of course, for anything NSFW. Keep that stuff well away from minors). I think my only issue with younger people in the fandom is their negative attitude and reliance on social media for validation for it. Not sure exactly when it happened, but over the last few years there has clearly been a shift in how some furs treat others, what is deemed 'right and wrong' within the fandom, why you 'can't be a furry for xyz' and so on. I've seen some downright nasty bullying of friends and contemporaries from younger and newer furries just because their opinions differ. I guess these younger furries also don't even consider the folk who began the whole fandom proper are now collecting their pensions. Younger furs are also definitely more shaped by what they see on tiktok and other socials I guess. For me, personally, it's good to see wholesome and positive content like this rather than put downs and unfounded 'cancel culture' witchhunts (not the genuine callouts for deviant sickoes ofc, but this weird current trend of publicly shaming someone for not having the same interests/opinions within the fandom). Thank you Skai. I'll be subbing now. 💕

Kids on TikTok and Twitter have attempted to co-opt the furry fandom as being some new hip youth subculture where they party and "get hitched" before moving on and forgetting about it. Most of them will either just "move on" from the scene or grow into a proper responsible furry adult, so I think ultimately this problem will correct itself. I think right now we are just in the middle of the consequences of the impact social media had on the fandom since the social media landscape and algorithms favor this modern corporate-imposed ideal of how only the "young hip 'n sexy" people are relevant (the whole claim you stop being relevant over 30 extends waaaaay beyond the fandom, unfortunately, I frequently hear 18-29 being referred to as the "most important demographic" as if there's an age cap on individualism, social activism, productivity, etc). I think eventually the issue will correct itself internally, but I also think the external contributing factors will be corrected over time as the general public grows ever tired of modern demographic division, lack of individualism, as well as corporate-imposed algorithms and propaganda. Also, the only way you can spend all your early-mid 20s partying, buying expensive things, and adventuring is if you have rich parents. So I feel the narrative not only makes 30+ furs feel bad but also makes 19-23 somethings feel worse by comparing themselves to their peers and wondering why they are not "ahead" (something I struggled with throughout my early 20s and even though I'm 27 now I still struggle with).
I don't get why there's any debate at all. Anyone can say they're a part of any fandom they want, both to themselves and others within earshot or online.
i’m 32 and yes i I got into the fandom at 30 many people told me I was too old to get into the fandom, but that didn’t stop me. They told me since I have gray in my beard that makes me too old too, but I will always be a furry for the rest of my life. It makes me happy, I think younger furs should understand that not everybody has an easy life and has a chance to find the fandom I didn’t but now I get to live my dream and be happy and I hope everybody gets a chance to live their dream
I'm in similar situation. I finished university less than 2 years ago and I just barely started actually living my life and figuring stuff out instead of studying 70% of day and working part time for remaining 30% like zombie. I did not have any social life AT ALL when I was studying. Yet I'm already 28 despite being realistically at the beginning of my _actually legitimately adult and independent life this time for real._ I also never liked concept of renting home so I decided to save a bit and finance own home (which I recently did) so in matter of fact I will be moving out of my parents home in next few months for the first time... being 28... And ngl I often feel very old and out of touch here. Also because lots of teens decide to rent homes and move out earlier I kinda feel like I'm lagging with my entire life a bit. Majority of furries are just starting their universities so when I'm talking with them about my history with uni and my graduation I kinda feel like grandpa telling their kids how he worked at NASA in 1975... xD it kinda always gives me some anxiety when talking with younger furs bc I really don't want to come off as some stereotypical gross nerdy creep chit chatting with teen girls XD
I'm turned 30 this year, and tbh it was hard to begin for me since I have been busy mostly for 4 years since I joined the fandom and feel like I have been missing out so much around my 20s. But I consider it a new era and make it way awesome then what I have before. We stay true to ourselves no matter how old we are :3
I'm 33 and a few months ago I was getting messages from someone on my Telegram that they seen my Barq account, which I'm pretty sure I have my age listed there. After only a few messages they asked my age, told me their's (which really isn't that much younger than I) and said they don't like the age gap. Then about a month later they messaged me again saying they saw my Barq account, and since I didn't delete anything from our conversation, I asked if they deleted our previous conversation. I still haven't gotten a response from them if they contacted me again because they deleted the conversation on their end and forgot or what. I don't recall having learned of this age thing in the furry fandom, but that may explain why hardly anyone ever talked to me across all of the social media platforms that were still up when I first got invested and since.
This is 100% true! End of the day enjoying things don't have an expiry date and I really hope nobody ever gives up enjoying the furry community just cause they feel like they're at a certain age
I became a furry when I was 17, now 20…..and tbh I had no idea this was even a thing. Is this just a Twitter thing? If so, that makes sense, cause only social media I have is TH-cam and Discord. I only hear stupid shit come out of Twitter, so I don’t take anything that comes out of there seriously. So am I considered old on furry Twitter cause I’m 20? I mean tbh I feel the same as when I was 18, except now life is harder LMAO.
I seem to be the only ones who didn't see 30 as "old" even when I was in my teens and 20s. Yeah I feared becoming older, but I was more afraid that I would become like those annoying grown-ups who thought because their kids have it better than them, they're not "allowed" to have problems then are shocked to find that yes, younger people do have problems and aren't just a "Burden to be dealt with".
Well I'm way over 30, I don't know about anything in the fandom, but my peers and others often remind me of how I should act, dress, etc. While I understand with age comes responsibility, happiness can get harder to find as you age. I don't understand why dignity is at odds with creativity. I've watched many people pass on, and no one said they wished they were more conformist.
At first, I honestly thought 'Aww no, here we go again' , but your video brings some interesting perspectives, especially from your anonymouse friend. Thank you for bringing that up, and to skip the entire debate from 'Yes but your generation does this' you phrased it wonderfully: Just don't be a bad person and enjoy!
Hey Thabo thanks for watching! Seeing the title of the video can definitely give off that impression, but I'm glad you could see that I had a very different take here with this oversaturated topic. :3
Ive seen a couple like 47yo furries and its like when an old woman likes your grunge alt outfit.. Its like seeing 80yo gay husbands.. I love it. Im a 14yo and omg.. i love seeing older people in the same community as me, theyre like the afoptive parents or grandparents of the community.
I think all young furries should watch Sci fi dystopian film 'Logan's run', where all the people were ordered to die at age 30, but some tried to escape, and found it was ok to be older and do stuff.
This is not just furries, this is all of society. And yes, your body and life does change after 30. The intersection of this topic and fandoms is a longer conversation however it should be know that the fear and anxiety around aging out of your 20's is not misplaced or without reason. The boomers essentially lied to everyone about getting old. It gets worse not better after a certain point. It's only nice if you achieved a good career or have lots of money; if you dont have that being old slowly gets worse and worse until you die. It's just the truth. I guess there is some solace to be had in raising a family; but once again, thats a complex conversation
To be honest, stuff like this makes me really anxious. I've been a furry for quite a long time now, but haven't been able to go to cons or get a fursuit because of my bad mental health that put ahold on my life for quite a few years and not having any money because of that. I'm 22 now, and the older I get the more ostracised I feel in my interests in general, like I don't belong because I'm getting too old. Becoming 30 is a very scary prospect for me. I don't know why people can't just let other people enjoy stuff, regardless of age.
I'm 37, and yah I feel a little out of place in the community but I love the furry fandom and I'm not gonna stop loving something just cus I'm older now
I am 41 here. I went to lots of fur-cons in my 30s even did a lot in my fur-suit like the fur-suit parade, the dance comp and fur-suit games too. I did stop doing all of those except the fur-suit parade as doing all that stuff was very tiring and would get sore but I did have fun though. And you can always say if it were not for us grey muzzles you would not have furry conventions as it is us that are knowledgeable about said fur-cons that we know how one is run from going to several of them through out the years. Most con chairs I have known are at least in there 30s if not much older. I even thought of starting a fur-con here locally but then was like o boy that would take a lot of planning and staffing and having security and stuff. Or do something really crazy and and combine the two things I like that being gaming and furry into one convention. ;) Which I should bring up that I do go to non-furry conventions too. I have been going to Portland Retro Gaming Expo for around 10 years now and the volunteers many of which are arcade owners. I am stoked to see the co-owner of Ground Kontrol and get to work beside him keeping the retro arcade going. Which that convention is coming up here in October on the 13-15 and I highly recommend the con as it is a celebration of all gaming from console to arcade cab games and hey if you do come say hi to me I will be in the retrocade repair station. ^=^
No one deserves to be treated the way they get, just out of age? I mean like from others point of view, like for women, that is considered extremely rude, it just isn't right in my opinion, let people live for who they are. We all got are own opinions, but the fandom is for everyone, not just young furs, like me.
As someone who is 30 it is a little sad to see some of my friends in their 20s feeling old and like they're past their prime or something. I think a lot of this narrative comes from the same sort of societal pressure that makes people worry about "falling behind" their peers as if you're all in a race.
Ya when I was younger I thought 30 was ANCIENT, but as I got older and older, I don't feel older, sure my back hurts and I gotta pee like once every 2 hours. But I don't 'feel' any different then I was in my 20s
I'm nearly 50 and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I once knew a couple in their late 70's who didn't miss an anime convention until he died and she went to a retirement home. That's my goal.
I only started going to cons and being a fursuiter when I turned 40. Note that happened because I had autism, and I did not face it until then. I can be awesome because I have the life experience to do so. Uncle Kage is 58 and RUNS a furry con. Alkali in his 40s, too, and performs at cons. Mark Merlino, who co-founded the first furry convention, still holds gatherings at his house at 71. There are those of us that have not only been around a long time, but we make the furry fun happen! I went public suiting for the first time not that long ago. It is my dream that I can be that awesome. It is inevitable that you learn things don't matter as much as you think they do and there is no rush. Take care of yourself and you will be successful!
42 here. I really don't understand kids putting time limits on themselves. I've even had a little kids come up to me in the different games and tell me that someone of my age shouldn't be playing. I just make it a point to remind them that without people my age coming up with the games they wouldn't have anything to play to begin with
New channel recommended, nice thought out topic... go to look at rest of channel and first popular video is furry twerk animation... Obviously this is a place of taste and refinement ~sips coffee~ Lol but seriously, I'm going to be 37 this year and have only really started trying to be part of the larger furry community in the last few months. But since I was young I've always had a "strong interest" in anthro characters, and have been enjoying the art, music, aesthetics and just overall vibe of furries for many years I cant really speak to the ideas of people I haven't talked to or met, but it does seem strange to add an arbitrary age to a community that has existed since I was a kid Or put another way... I was there when Star Fox Adventures came out on Gamecube and had to grow up with Fox and Krystal haunting my hormone addled dreams you whippersnappers! I played the adult only furry games on Newgrounds when I wssnt an adult! I've done my time in horney jail so dont!... something something idk this seemed funnier when I started ANYWAY just be cool we're all just a bunch of internet floofs at the end of the day. If you want to be ageist go yell at your local politicians
@5:24 I disagree; some people want money, attention, and/or power. Though I must concede those are much less likely to make a person happy than the whole love-and-peace option... Thanks for stating that over 30 isn't too old; I'm over 30 myself and toying with the idea of joining the fandom.
I'm old, but still kind of a daydreamer. My work is about all I have left, and since Covid we've been really short staffed, so I wouldn't have time for a hobby anyway. I know several coworkers don't like furries, but the videos I watch seem interesting. I'll just watch.
@@SkaiTheWolf 51 years old and so bored of seeing it over and over again on youtube and socials, when you hit 30+ you generally stop caring what others think
@Kuma Chan If you're active on socials then you'll know its gotten out of hand on Twitter recently and lots of people are getting ticked off about it, both older and younger. The fact that more light is brought to this subject (not for views) shouldn't bother the very people it's defending, so if you don't want to watch people trying to help our age group then don't watch that content.
@@SkaiTheWolf Exactly what I try to do, grew up with guilt and shaming parents, everyone just needs to get over what others think or attaching age labels to things
I do wish I was able to be more of a furry when I was younger. It's a shame I only got into it when I turned 30. Sometimes young people don't understand the privilege they have when they actually have a fursuit or are able to attend lots of cons. I feel like lots of furries need to check their privilege anyway.
If you ban everyone that is over 30 you can kiss goodby to "ALL" fur cons and a far good amount of the better ran and popular local fur meets. If not all but at least the vast majority of all fur cons upper level staff are furs who are over 30. Furs that are over 30 are far better equipped to deal with all of the major headaches that have to be dealt with to run a convention. Hell if some 20 year old kid showed up to a large hotel asking to sign a contract to run a convention I doubt the hotel manager would actually take them serious and if they did they would royally screw them over as they just don't have the experience in dealing with such compacted contracts.
as someone who didn't even find the fandom until my late 20s I dont think the "age limit" is a real thing. Heck I legit know someone who was in their 70's when they found it even though they always enjoyed aspects of it. I mean he saw Disney's Robin Hood in theater first run enough times to have most of the movie memorized
Ok. Here is my two cents on this matter but first before I get too much into this let me introduce myself. My name is Johnny Blanco and I am 53 soon to be 54 on March 3rd and I have been in this fandom for 30 years (my character was created on FurryMuck on 10/23/1992) and I can safely say that I was furry 30 years ago, I am furry today and I will be 100 and STILL be a furry.. And I REALLY do NOT care what ANY little kids say whether they are in this fandom or not. And if the "kids" in this fandom want the "old people" to go away.. let me ask you a question. Who the hell is going to run cons?
in this generation the immaturity rate elevated to make adults from 19-30 become this new generation the new teenagers when in the 20th century being an actual teenager mentality was always 13-21 but our society is changing the view points on how we understand "aging" because their reality is becoming more sensitive and resist to change
Hey it goes by the old saying judge not unless ye be judged I’m 41 now and went to my first furry con back in 2015 Midwest furfest and a few years later I became a suit maker to shits and giggles. So people shouldn’t judge about peoples ages
Just like my car friends, with furries its weirdly the older ones are the most fun xD now that I'm over 30 the homies are even more like "dude it's BLFC! We're gonna rent supercars and shoot full auto out at this spot by Tahoe!! Let's GOOOOOOOO!!"
Interesting but i never heard this age issue before. Well if an outsider recognize that youre a furry it does not matter how old are you they will ask you: Aren't you too old for this? This question can be asked to a 16-18 aswel. On my experience i became a furry far before the internet era, and because i have a long history, i can tell there is no way to drop it, if you are indeed 100% furry, because some ppl are doin it as a fashion thats why they can quit it. There are old characters in every community and every cultural scene, (like manga) and lots of furries have a crush on older mature-looking characters, if their body is well maintained. This also inspiring my own self to maintain my own body with workouts since years now, because being a furry is fun and i want to be furry for much longer
Is this really a thing? I ask because I'm old and don't use Twitter! Seriously though, if there is any group where labels don't matter its the furry fandom. We create fursonas we identify with and that make us happy and at its core that self-expression is really what this fandom is about.
I'm 40 and have been a furry for 27 years. I say enjoy what you love regardless!

I'm turned 30 this year, and tbh it was hard to begin for me since I have been busy mostly for 4 years since I joined the fandom and feel like I have been missing out so much around my 20s. But I consider it a new era and make it way awesome then what I have before. We stay true to ourselves no matter how old we are :3
Age is just a number of which level you've reached... I'm level 44 🤪
Furries can be all ages, not just up to 30.
I think so long as people are respectful what does it matter?
30 is not old I'm 52
No
They’re not too old
At first, I honestly thought 'Aww no, here we go again' , but your video brings some interesting perspectives, especially from your anonymouse friend.
40 This year and Going Strong :) PS i want your Purple lightbulbs hehe
Thank you for making this video I was scared of what happens when I grow up and if I had to leave I am happy that I can stay
Awesome and hilarious stream and video my friend and stay skai and I hope everything is ok
Thanks for coming, glad you enjoyed it and I'm doing well..eh for a 30 year old anyway! ;3
Would it bother anyone if someone was 80 years old and still a furry?
I'm 37, and yah I feel a little out of place in the community but I love the furry fandom and I'm not gonna stop loving something just cus I'm older now
Couldn't be said better
Or do something really crazy and and combine the two things I like that being gaming and furry into one convention. ;)
Which I should bring up that I do go to non-furry conventions too.
I'm not even 30 yet and I already feel 'old' in the fandom???? I haven't even gotten started yet!
Thats like saying "Oh bro your too old for trick or treating"
Very well said! :3
42 here. I really don't understand kids putting time limits on themselves. I've even had a little kids come up to me in the different games and tell me that someone of my age shouldn't be playing. I just make it a point to remind them that without people my age coming up with the games they wouldn't have anything to play to begin with
Many of them literally still wear diapers. I wouldn't take their word for what is age appropriate.
i love your oc!
Thank you! :3
New channel recommended, nice thought out topic... go to look at rest of channel and first popular video is furry twerk animation...
Obviously this is a place of taste and refinement ~sips coffee~
Lol but seriously, I'm going to be 37 this year and have only really started trying to be part of the larger furry community in the last few months. But since I was young I've always had a "strong interest" in anthro characters, and have been enjoying the art, music, aesthetics and just overall vibe of furries for many years
I cant really speak to the ideas of people I haven't talked to or met, but it does seem strange to add an arbitrary age to a community that has existed since I was a kid
Or put another way...
Me who just turned 30 a few days ago: 😬
How MANY times is this brought up ? [In order to get hits/comments]
Why do you care?
Good on you!
I'm not aging I'm evolving 😌
Great Video
They actually maybe are, because i am a furry myself and i think i will quit being furry when i am 20+/30+ y/o
But it's fine to be furry at any age
Furries who say there is being too old to be a furry are pretty much admitting to being a temporary furry lol.
Yup, every furry on the same conveyer belt seems like a pointless place to cause conflict with one another x3
I do wish I was able to be more of a furry when I was younger. It's a shame I only got into it when I turned 30. Sometimes young people don't understand the privilege they have when they actually have a fursuit or are able to attend lots of cons. I feel like lots of furries need to check their privilege anyway.
Hi thank you for this video 🤠 I'm disabled I'm almost 60. I'll go to a group in my area. I hope they accept me ☺️. I've always been creative
You're amazing
From one Graymuzzle to another Welcome to the club
Nice topic about age, totally agree with you it’s just having fun nothing more or less about it. Keep up the uploads
I'm 41 and I still consider myself a Furry/Scalie girl :3
Who the hell is going to run cons?
in this generation the immaturity rate elevated to make adults from 19-30 become this new generation the new teenagers when in the 20th century being an actual teenager mentality was always 13-21 but our society is changing the view points on how we understand "aging" because their reality is becoming more sensitive and resist to change
too old inside the fandom too young in general society it defeats the purpose no more escapism
I am truely wondering about those people's opinion once they turned 30. are they realy gonna stick to their mindset? I highly doubt so xD
30 is still young, 50-60 is old floofy, past 80s ya slow down, for retrospect, im still teen
I’m 39 now and I had come out as a furry a year or two ago, would I be too old
Never :3
@@SkaiTheWolf 😸
Hey it goes by the old saying judge not unless ye be judged I’m 41 now and went to my first furry con back in 2015 Midwest furfest and a few years later I became a suit maker to shits and giggles. So people shouldn’t judge about peoples ages
My people were pesents I hate everyone equally- aurther Morgan this isn't the full quote but it gets the point across in a way that i couldent
Bro i am NOT gonna quit in 3 years... You kidding? So we get what 12 years in the *entire* fandom at most? Nah.
Just like my car friends, with furries its weirdly the older ones are the most fun xD now that I'm over 30 the homies are even more like "dude it's BLFC! We're gonna rent supercars and shoot full auto out at this spot by Tahoe!! Let's GOOOOOOOO!!"
I’m 103849900 years old. And I’ve been a furry for 1 month. And I love it. (Joke)
Dilfs
big hairy 30 year old dilfs..
@@SkaiTheWolf 🤤
Im young now, but I can totally forsee myself staying a furry for many decades to come. 🙂
We create fursonas we identify with and that make us happy and at its core that self-expression is really what this fandom is about.
based furry moment
Im 26 and a furry its not wrong
I’m going to be 33 next month :(
They literally found the fandom! Lol
