Since I first started Diamond in 2014-2015? I knew this guy was a solid person. Happy for all your success over last decade (and fambam build too, gym build---> clan build!) Having said that...one of those first muscle tanks I got absolutely looks like a dress on me now, haha. Any OG viewers still have the old Diamond gear, and give up lifting over the years?
I think I asked you decade ago if you were down for a USAPL meet, circle back to present day.... all the craze is "hybrid athlethes".... Let me get you to the darkside--- marathon running!
@@dkny9954 Funny enough I was getting into running right before I started my channel (2007-2009). Furtheset I ran was a half marathon but haven't ran since lol.
Absolutely love this set up. The only thing I would change would be to get rid of the bench press station (don’t really see the point if you have a competition bench) and deadlift platform and have a custom, timber platform in the rack, integrated into the existing flooring; this would double up as a deadlift platform. Both amendments would free up more space to fit even more equipment in… a seal row bench, a Wenning or Rogue belt squat and something with a smith machine. Have a look at Alexander Bromley’s video entitled “I thought this was bullsh*t….” He’s been doing some REALLY interesting training with those battery powered things on your rack. Integrating them into barbell movements .
Thanks for the feedback! The combo rack is currently only really for review purposes and this one will not be staying. I am however looking at getting a custom combo in perhaps and at that point I'd get rid of the Sorinex bench. I thought about going with a platform integrated into the rack but that would take up a lof of the free floor space which is one of the things I like about my current gym. Never say never though!
my current flooring is 3/4" thick so I would either need to replace it all, or only go with a single layer of wood 3/4" thick on top of my concrete slab (which I wouldn't do). So in my case it would likely have to be a raised platform.
I’ve spent $13,423 CAD on my home gym of 5 years. It’s basically only a rack, bench and 7 bars, though I have a luxurious 1,260 lbs of plates. I live in a smaller city, which makes it easier to get a good deal on quality equipment because few buyers in a smaller market are willing to pay for higher-end equipment. I’ve bought calibrated plates, Rogue bumpers and powerlifting bars for about half price. If I buy retail, I just have to be careful that I won’t want to sell it because then I’ll only get half price, too! 🙂
The literal dream gym man so many cool pieces. Definitely grateful to you as a resource so that when I want to buy equipment I know what brands to be supporting and overall utility for my own home gym.
Thanks! I try to frame things appropriately when discussing things, meaning why I like them or who they may or may not be for. I don't want to tell someone what to buy, just hope to make their decision clearer.
Love it! Very organized.... so questions: 1. How do you keep the floor so clean??? Inside only shoes or constant vacuuming or what? 2. What'd you use to get all the banners on the concrete walls? Little nervous to put nails or screws into ours but tape doesn't seem to hold. 3. What's the floor under the stall mats? We've got a floating floor in our basement (plywood on top of 2x8s) so a bit nervous about putting too much stuff or weight into one area.
1. Being in a basement def helps vs in a garage for that. But in our house we always take our shoes off upon entering. So my gym shoes only live in the gym. 2. In the past I used gorilla tape, but lately i've been using double sided outdoor carpet tape I got off amazon and it's worked even better. 3. Nothing for me. It's just concrete. I like getting the button bottom mats so they breathe a bit better.
Oak Club needs to bring back the backboard. Great reason to have 2 powerracks - full court hoops for rainy day fun! Especially in a high ceiling basement.
Pretty sweet setup! Speaking critically, I feel like some of the pieces here are more expensive, but not better than, many of the more popular "mid market" items from Rogue and REP. Sorinex GHD a prime example. Then add in that adjustable bench with fewer adjustments than benches costing half and a comp bench setup that isn't comp spec... Like there's a roobox which is brilliant and worth the money, same with the Kleva stuff, and your collab pullup product. All better than what else exists and worth the upcharge. I feel like a lot of these bougie brands get a pass on bad designs because they are overbuilt and put into collegiate facilities. Meanwhile other companies in the home gym space are actually making better products and have passed them up in design, just not customizability and pure build weight.
I don't disagree at all there. I think I call that out in the description and even talk about it in the video in regards to the GHD. A lot of this stuff has been "upgraded" over the years as I purposely wanted specific colors/branding.
Been following you for years brother.Quality content as usual. One day I dream to have a quarter of what you’re showcasing in the vid. Thanks for the inspiration ✊🏾

It may be in an older video, but I basically cut a square that will be the size of the pole (like 4"x4") in the exact spot it will fall on the mat. I then cut a single seam to the nearest edge so that I can basically wrap it around the pole.
All of these unnecessary bars for someone not jacked at all !! Just dumb waste of cash and space. The TV and bicycle get the most use in that gym!! All anyone needs is a necessities. Smith machine, a leg press, an adjustable bench, a lat pulldown, dumbbells 5-150 lbs. A treadmill, a stepmill, a bicycle. Thats it!
Hey Brandon, how do you keep everything so clean!? I'm amazed! In particular I'm thinking about the deadlift platform... After I'm done deadlifting, the thing looks like a bakers table. I think it would be interesting to show also the maintenance aspect of your gym. I hope you can see this. Greetings from Mexico!
Thanks for the tour! Very aesthetic and with unique equipment! What is your current barbell rotation? I didn't know you had a gun rack in the corner behind the curtains lol
This varies some like I'm sure it does for you as new bars come in. But in most cases I'm using the Hansu SS, Eleiko bare steel, and Hansu Bright Zinc the most.
Still haven't covered that fiberglass insulation above you. I would think it rains down microscopic bits of fiberglass. I used black landscape fabric to cover some fiberglass like that but not for a gym setting like yours.
What is your goto for mounting stuff on the concrete walls, from the banners to the mirror to the racks? BTW, having grown up in the shadow of York Barbell, I noticed your sticker and also loved your York Barbell video you did. Your basement gym is amazing.
So for the longest time I would use Gorilla tape but I recently switched over to double sided outdoor carpet tape that works even better. I would prob stay away from it if your walls are finished though as it will rip paint off if removed.
I am curious that you do not have a suspension trainer like NOSSK CYCLONE which allows rotational movement. This is better than TRX, and great for hotel rooms or outside in a backyard. Another item I find very useful are the GD Fly grip handles, much better than angles. Inexpensive items with many many uses. Thought this might peak your interest for Calisthenic exercise.
Not a standalone one. Theyre very similar to a lot of other urethanes out there. My thought is they likely use similar manufacturers overseas and just swap logos out. They're solid!
Thanks for giving the update. You never know when a person does a update and speaking of the stall mats. I saw a product quantum trainer pro2. Would you get a cage or the quantum trainer pro2. You may not have experience with this pacific product. You have experience with gym equipment.
I don’t use mine much anymore (my shoulders have been pretty good since getting a coach) but does the Bow tie ever mark your arms tingle/go dead? That’s half the reason I don’t use it anymore 😂
The Red one I show here does. It's stiffer and a size too small. I got the casual one in my office that does a better job. I wear it while at my desk for too long for about 20-30 min intervals.
Hey Brandon, I am building a new gym from scratch after moving and had a question based on my space being similar in size to your basement gym. I want to add a cable system and am torn between a standalone option like the Rep Adonis or a proper functional trainer (ie. Rep Arcadia Max). Since my training is similar to yours in that I am more focused on powerlifting movements, what would you recommend I should look into? I know that you are high on the Prime single stack and recommended it in the past, but since then you have had experience with the Voltra 1 dual setup and the market for cable trainers has also shifted drastically.
If it were me I'd prob look at getting a 6 post REP or Rogue with the built in selectorized units. I'd highly recommend checking out Gluck's Gym videos on them if you haven't already!
I am planning to outfit a powerlifting/bodybuilding gym with a selection of power bars. Do you have particular recommendations or warnings for the list of bars below? TSS G1 Stainless Vulcan Elite PB Strength Co Corps Rogue OPB Blk Zinc Hansu 20kg Chrome Rep double blk stainless Texas PB 29mm blk zinc Giant Lone Wolf blk zinc BOS bare steel pb StrongArm PB blk zinc Rogue OPB stainless shaft/blk sleeves
TSS G1 Stainless - Good value and knurl for the price. Good for those who compete IPF/USAPL Vulcan Elite PB - Good bar but just white labeled. Strength Co Corps - Good bar but just white labeled. Rogue OPB Blk Zinc - Not a big fan of BZ, it tends to wear/fade and dulls feel of bar some Hansu 20kg Chrome - Great value on comp specific bar Rep double blk stainless - Have not used but I did like the Power Bar EX it replaced Texas PB 29mm blk zinc - Classic bar with updated thickness. Downside is TPB are a bit louder due to the roll pin design Giant Lone Wolf blk zinc - have not heard of BOS bare steel pb - Good value. I prefer the Hansu chrome as it's not much more expensive StrongArm PB blk zincb- Have not used, Strongarm can be hit or miss Rogue OPB stainless shaft/blk sleevesb - Good bar. Not overly aggressive but grippy. Best customer service of the bars listed.
@@BasementBrandon Ugh I'm jelous haha, i'm the same height and have to go outside or up in the gargage for when i do standing overhead movements. Appreciate the feedback!
@@BasementBrandon I suppose stand alone. I'm in an attic, so unit depth and width are of more concern then height. Technically I could fit a shallow half rack, but I'm not sure how useful that would be; the room is a bit tight for barbell movements.
@@Exercise-vt6je I think that might be a bit of a struggle TBH. Most stand alones are fairly large and could be hard to get up. Most rack attached systems don't adjust.
Might not be capital gains, but the overall gains on that $100,000 are off the chain 💪🏻 Thanks for allowing me to live vicariously through your investment.
That's my one saving grace is a lot of this stuff holds decent value. I just hope my kids like lifting and will use it when I'm gone, otherwise it's going to be a pain in the ass moving all this shit lol.
Off topic, but what is your calf circumference. Looking to get the pioneer sleeves. I have 16.25" calves and am not sure if the 2xl will work for a comp fit.
Simple question. Is the aggro 2x necessary or is the SS std opb, especially with the newly updated tolerances (which the aggro doesn’t have yet) good to go as the dedicated power bar? Concerned as to if it’s aggressive enough for strapless chaulkless heavy deads. Thanks! Didn’t see a SS opb in your vid in 45 or 20 kg unless I missed it.
So the SS OPB was my daily driver for a few years. I had a friend who wanted one so I sold them mine in the interim b/c I have so many bars. I then got the Aggro 2 and 3 and just never got around to replacing them. I think of all of them the aggro 2 has the best daily knurl for my liking . Standard OPB is great, 2 is better, 3 is just novelty.
Sold my OPB to a friend and just never got around to replacing it. It's a great daily driver but I find the 2x to be one of my favorite knurls. The 3x is overkill and more of a novelty.
@@BasementBrandon Appreciate that, thanks. Perhaps I'll wait for them to do the sleeve tolerance update on the AGGRO bars; shame they are saving that for last... all the other power bars including the Westside now have the hybrid power bar tolerances. Your house just caught on fire and your wife and kids aren't home... you have just enough time to run down in your basement and grab two barbells and save yourself... which two are you grabbing? lol.
@@ExpeditionaryRanger It's a hard question to answer but the bars I use the most these days are the Hansu SS and the Eleiko bare steel IPF comp bar. If I had to pick just one bar to keep though I may end up with one of my AB chewy's. Just depends on the day!
@@BasementBrandon awesome thanks, good idea. It’s a great quote from a great movie, but I’ve been surprised at how hard it is to find anyone who makes a banner of that quote.
@@BasementBrandon I like the 24” extension bc I “walk through” it all the time. Loaded down like yours, I can see having an 18-20” extension to save some floor space.
David (Pepin) asked me if I'd sell them to someone else so that he could get me the heavier versions (180lbs?). That's been a bit delayed b/c of what he's working on with REP but I think in the interim he may be sending me his adjustable kettlebell.
@@BasementBrandon Ah. OK. He really threw me for a loop and messed up my head with that move. I sold my 40-90 lb rubber hex and was moments away from ordering the Fast Series when the collaboration dropped. Then I am faced with either ordering the Chinese Pepin's (that I don't really want) or making an immediate decision on ordering a last round of limited edition product run from him if I let him know right away... $1,000 more that I was all set to pay for the Canadian version. My head is still spinning. $2,200 was much easier to accept when it was the only option.
100k? dayum. Do you even get regular use of all of that? I have a lot less equipment in my home gym; I've only spent 20k+ and still I have stuff I don't use. But I won't get rid of it, regardless. Also how high is the ceiling? Mine is only 90" and when were looking at for anew house (moved in January) I didn't see a single house here that had a celling above 90" and some were less.
Not all, some of it is just in case, but I would say on average 75% gets used weekly. Our Ceilings are 108" or so. We built the house so I specifically had them pour a deeper foundation to have higher ceilings. They still jerked me around with where they put the HVAC system but for the most part its fine.
@@BasementBrandon Very nice. In my city there are no new builds of houses because there's no undeveloped land left. I'm very happy with our new place and my bigger basement gym. I have about twice as much space as our old house and there's another huge room on the other side of the basement I could expand to if I wanted but for now I don't feel the need.

Looks like there is some chipped paint on that rack. Time for an upgrade! 😆
I'm actually replacing the rack soon, that's why I wanted to document the current set up before it's gone!
@@BasementBrandon link for the mexican yoga mat?
Still haven't covered that fiberglass insulation above you. I would think it rains down microscopic bits of fiberglass. I used black landscape fabric to cover some fiberglass like that but not for a gym setting like yours.
Haven't found it to be an issue yet!
A gold standard for Basement gyms worldwide
No place to go but up when you're in the basement!
What is the tape you used on the seams of the stall mats Brandon?
Thank you!
Gorilla tape
Stall mats look incredibly clean and uniform. Any secrets there?
Basements are easier to keep clean, if in a garage, leaf blower makes quick work of dust/dirt.
Impressive, thanks.
Thanks for taking a look!
My preference for training is focused around powerlifting so most of my equipment choices come down to things related.
@@BasementBrandon Thanks for the quick reply.
That Sorinex GHD is sweet!
It is a looker!
do you have a review of the rep dumbbells?
Not a standalone one. Theyre very similar to a lot of other urethanes out there. My thought is they likely use similar manufacturers overseas and just swap logos out. They're solid!
You’re great bro
Thanks man!
Thanks for giving the update. You never know when a person does a update and speaking of the stall mats. I saw a product quantum trainer pro2. Would you get a cage or the quantum trainer pro2. You may not have experience with this pacific product. You have experience with gym equipment.
I'm not too familiar with that one or brand
Ooh will watch later. Comment for algo, loz and liz doing 1988 style wsm commentary now 😂
😅
Just commenting for the algorithm. Big fan
appreciate that my dude.
Great video! What is your favorite squat bar?
My dream squat bar is the Iron Wolfe one, but out of the ones I've used I like the Rogue for the quality to price ratio.
Awesome gym. Where did you get "There is no tomorrow" banner?
I had it made
29:55 where that axle bar at ? Did you ever do a video on the axle bar btw?
I have not, but it was a steal at the time for like $80 from Gorilla Strength.
Ayooooo! Amazing gym bro!!!!!
Thanks boss!
Do you have the rough dimensions of the room?
there's some nooks and crannies, but its roughly like 650sq ft.
What weight tree is that holding the Hansu plates?
I have 2 with Hansu's on it. One is a custom Ghost Strong one and the other is from Technogym
Looks like the jammer arms finally got tossed. You sell them off or just store them away?
Sold them awhile back, one of my worst purchases (for my style of training).
I am planning to outfit a powerlifting/bodybuilding gym with a selection of power bars. Do you have particular recommendations or warnings for the list of bars below?
TSS G1 Stainless
Vulcan Elite PB
Strength Co Corps
Rogue OPB Blk Zinc
Hansu 20kg Chrome
Rep double blk stainless
Texas PB 29mm blk zinc
Giant Lone Wolf blk zinc
BOS bare steel pb
StrongArm PB blk zinc
Rogue OPB stainless shaft/blk sleeves
Sorry for the long question lol, I tried my best to abbreviate
TSS G1 Stainless - Good value and knurl for the price. Good for those who compete IPF/USAPL
Vulcan Elite PB - Good bar but just white labeled.
Strength Co Corps - Good bar but just white labeled.
Rogue OPB Blk Zinc - Not a big fan of BZ, it tends to wear/fade and dulls feel of bar some
Hansu 20kg Chrome - Great value on comp specific bar
Rep double blk stainless - Have not used but I did like the Power Bar EX it replaced
Texas PB 29mm blk zinc - Classic bar with updated thickness. Downside is TPB are a bit louder due to the roll pin design
Giant Lone Wolf blk zinc - have not heard of
BOS bare steel pb - Good value. I prefer the Hansu chrome as it's not much more expensive
StrongArm PB blk zincb- Have not used, Strongarm can be hit or miss
Rogue OPB stainless shaft/blk sleevesb - Good bar. Not overly aggressive but grippy. Best customer service of the bars listed.
@@BasementBrandon thank you so much for the comprehensive response. I hope you have a wonderful day Mr. Basement
Don’t even lift anymore, but I still tune in lol
I appreciate that my dude.
The best home gym in the world
We'll see once you finish your house!
How do you do over head work like snatches or military press?
I don't do snatches but I have taller ceilings here (just under 9'), so even at 6'3" overhead clearance isn't an issue.
@@BasementBrandon Ugh I'm jelous haha, i'm the same height and have to go outside or up in the gargage for when i do standing overhead movements. Appreciate the feedback!
Would be your recommendation for a adjustable cable pulley?
Like a stand alone machine? Rack add on?
@@BasementBrandon I suppose stand alone. I'm in an attic, so unit depth and width are of more concern then height. Technically I could fit a shallow half rack, but I'm not sure how useful that would be; the room is a bit tight for barbell movements.
@@Exercise-vt6je I think that might be a bit of a struggle TBH. Most stand alones are fairly large and could be hard to get up. Most rack attached systems don't adjust.
Where did u get the pins on ur safety straps?
from REP.
@@BasementBrandon I dnt see them on their website, would u happen to have the link?
@@sliccvicc7605 They're from their utility seat but if you email customer service they should be able to sell separately.
@@BasementBrandon ok I see, thanks again. I appreciate it
Might not be capital gains, but the overall gains on that $100,000 are off the chain 💪🏻
Thanks for allowing me to live vicariously through your investment.
That's my one saving grace is a lot of this stuff holds decent value. I just hope my kids like lifting and will use it when I'm gone, otherwise it's going to be a pain in the ass moving all this shit lol.
I'm like Sunffles the dog after getting a biscuit...
🤪
Off topic, but what is your calf circumference. Looking to get the pioneer sleeves. I have 16.25" calves and am not sure if the 2xl will work for a comp fit.
I'm at about 15". I have XLs and XXLs. The XXLs fit but are a bit big so only wear them when I want to give myself more breathing room.
@@BasementBrandon Sounds good, thanks.
Needs its own tier on the homegym iceberg😂
😭
This seems like way more than $100k of stuff lol. Looking great!
Oh god I hope not lol. Still trying to live up to your first basement gym.
@@BasementBrandon Ha we were ahead of our time!
Now let’s see you get into that singleply #inevitable
The suit is a lot easier for me than the shirt
this looks more like as a gym 'museum rather than an home gym. 😀😀
Check out my man Efren for that one!
That yoga blanket tho 👀
Mexico's finest.
Where did you get the “There is no tomorrow” banner?
I had it made a year or so ago? Lot of vinyl printing companies out there. It was pretty cheap too, around $40 if I recall.
@@BasementBrandon awesome thanks, good idea. It’s a great quote from a great movie, but I’ve been surprised at how hard it is to find anyone who makes a banner of that quote.
Decent barbell collection. RM5 is the way.
I'm going to be replacing this soon, will keep 30" up front but going to shrink the back slightly.
@@BasementBrandon I like the 24” extension bc I “walk through” it all the time. Loaded down like yours, I can see having an 18-20” extension to save some floor space.
@@clb121781 Yeah I think for walk through purposes it def makes sense, but I can just go under the bar if needed too. First world problems lol.
Hey Brandan, have you ever tried voice acting? I think you'd be perfect for some crafty characters!
I def have the face for it!
Where are the Pepin Fast Series?
@@dr.radloffschannel5854 I'm hopeful with David's attention to detail that the Reppins will still be very high quality.
Creeping up into the price range of a full Atlantis gym.
I laugh at the Technogym weight tree b/c I just used a Technogym treadmill on vacation that has a MSRP of $19,999 😅
@@BasementBrandon I know their clientele... when my neighbor move out, it took two months to stage and about a week to sell.
