Joined Planet Fitness 6 years ago, and I've moved from machine only workouts, to free weights only workouts. I've also basically doubled my ability to move metal since I started using dumb bells. If all you can afford is a basic membership at a basic gym, go for it. it's better than nothing!
I moved to planet fitness myself, the functional fitness area works best for me. I had the opposite problem than Jeremy, and that’s keeping my gym warm enough in our January winters.
Always loved the channel! I agree a home gym is one of the best investments you can make for yourself. It also doesnt have to be expensive if you are willing to put in some elbow grease, used commercial equipment can be found for pennies on the dollar on the second hand market.
Traveling to the gym is definitely my biggest hurdle. If I ever get a place with a garage or spare room I will definitely be building a home gym and incorporating a lot of your ideas! Can’t wait for the return of regular uploads! 🏴 😘
Really great review and awesome garage gym! I had to insulate my garage doors, it has made a huge difference in keeping the heat out especially in the hot Florida summer days.
I've been anticipating this one. Great job on it, I built mine in a part of my basement and it's been great. My own music, my equipment, and it's super convenient. Cheers Jeremy!
Jeremy, I want you to know this. Thank you for not being pushy like most TH-camrs today. You post only when there is something new and your episodes are well prepared. I see you as someone with whom I could drink whiskey and smoke cigars anytime. Cheers man!
Great review, not ideal but a suggestion on a space saving idea is that the lever arms you have on the Rep rack have an I Loop at the end so when the arms are down you can loop a dip belt through the I loop and do modified belt squat. I have one stall in a three car garage for my gym so I have had to get creative!
Love your gym. I wish I could have a gym that nice. Unfortunately here in AZ my garage easily get to 130+ during the summer. From April-November it's an oven in my garage. I have a small simple gym in my room. If you want to learn what hot is come to AZ. I'll show you. Keep up the hard work. It's cooler outside then in my garage.
@@THORFXMX a home gym can be many things. If it fixes your needs. I'll agree if it's just a couple dumbbells it's not a gym. A gym should match what you are training for.
I guess Jeremy did remember he has a TH-cam channel lol. Gym looks awesome and I agree those max grip/power grip attachments for cables are great. Hopefully we won’t have to wait 3 more months for the next one!!!
Dang, somehow missed the notification for this upload. Sweet setup Jeremy. I love Wall Control. I use that and French cleat in the shop for just about all of my tools on the wall.
Finally you made another new workout video with new information. This video very helpful bro!!!!!!!! 😎 I took a break from my contents cause I’m working on my CDLs And Trying To Get A House. Ima Make Sure I Build A Home Gym As Well!!!!!
Since you have the lat/low row already, the smarter thing to do would be to upgrade to the selectorized stack add on for it, and add 2 selectorized athena functional cable columns. Would be much easier to install and saves you the trouble of trying to sell your plate loaded lat pulldown/low row
I like that idea, but that may end up being more expensive. Plus I really like that with the ares 2.0 with the 2 pulley system in the high and low pulley you can do unilateral work. Also not sure the Athena would work with my shelf unit. I was looking at in the other day and those side stacks may not work well with the side add on shelves. So I’ll probably stick with the ares 2.0, but it’s a good thought. 😎👍🏻
Just some feedback regarding your rack comments. You can get a weight stack version of the lat pulldown attachment from rep, also the Athena would work with your existing setup. Lastly, the Ares 1.0 is a steal right now... and there are mods to raise the low row cable up farther off the ground. Cheers
I'd recommend just adding rep athena dual stacks instead of an ares 2... athena is much easier to install and combined with your lat pulldown it's probably better than ares 2.0, longer cable travel, etc.
I love how you keep going through the same hobbies as me lmfao. Finished my home gym this year. Had hundreds of bottles of bourbon during covid and still have more than I'll ever drink. Went through a huge espresso/coffee face. Love cigars but haven't gone deep on them yet.
Great setup! The only thing i can afford in this video is the internet connection in order to watch this. I can't wait for your next upload in 7 months!
Awesome tour. I’d definitely love to see a review on that hack squat if you get around to making one. Also, Rogue Rhino looks like a beast but if I ever get to add a belt squat to my own home gym I think I’ll go with the SquatMax MD. Best vertical cable path… or so I’ve been told.
Nice setup, we did the REP 5000 as well but did the athena front side cables and lat/low row all three in weight stack. Love the versatility and also wasn't a fan of having top tie the two cables together for lats and rows. Maybe they fixed that on the 2.0 Ares. I also installed a 12,000 btu mini split in the garage, I couldn't take the heat or cold lol.
Niiiice!!! I can’t wait to get a stack system. So much more convenient. The mini split is going to happen for us also. After this summer I will be getting one before the hot weather hits next year.
Note I'm making this comment before I watch the video I get home gym, home workout. I can't do it. Never have been. Now, get up at 5:45 M-F and go to the gym, or do yoga, no problem. Happy to do it. Alarm goes off, do your business, throw clothes on, grab water bottle, car keys, and out the door in 10 minutes. Something about the peer pressure of being around other people to hold yourself accountable, for me, makes the difference. Also, I've worked from home for 20 years, so getting the hell out of the house is a good thing. Your mileage may very.
Yeah I get that. I worked out in gyms for years. They definitely have some good point. I still prefer the convenience of a home gym though. To each their own, as long as you’re still bangin and clangin that iron. 😎👍🏻
The one thing I am missing is the Echo Bike, really want one of those to add. Definitely want to know more about the GHD alternative you are getting, I want to add one of those but the size I am not fond of so anything that does more and takes up less space would be great, I have a huge basement but am only using like half of it for the gym.
For someone with extremely limited space, what is the one piece of equipment that would provide the most return? For context i'm massively out of shape and looking to improve. I have a couple dumbells and a kettle bell. What else?
OMG, I about lost my S#@& when I saw the notification that my brother from another mother had dropped a new video. lol 😂. Guess I won’t be able to give you that much crap during the live this week about how long it’s been but let’s see if you can really pull off the hat trick and get us some awesome B Roll as well. lol. 😂 Love you bro. Glad to see you back.
Haha, hate to be there bearer of bad news but we might be canceling the live again this week. 😬 Had some health issues with my mom I’ve been dealing with. She is fine, but it’s made it nearly impossible to make the lives the last couple weeks. All should be good by next week for sure though. 😎👍🏻
@@JeremySiers sorry to hear that but glad everything’s ok. Usually catch the lives the day after as I’m 5 hours ahead unless I catch a break on nightshift 😉
Damn brother, I was afraid you got blowed away from one of those hurricanes. I’m about to add a weight bench, barbell and dumbbells to my office, Whiskey/cigar lounge/youtube studio myself. Just something simple…but we all know how when ya start off simple it gets complicated real quick.
Bruh. That's a 40k garage gym setup. Your pr5000 in clearcoat costs over 5k. Down the line you made good decisions (like the echo bike)... As a 41yr Old man who is generally inept at gym workouts, what do you recommend for me learn how to workout on my own. I was in the army for 10 years and they made is super difficult to be able to use the on post gyms and I didn't make enough money to be able to afford off post gyms. Any tips and tricks? It’s an interesting argument for sure. My counter to this is that for about $75/month I belong to a club that has all the weights, cardio machines, express bikes, boxing area, cross fit, etc. Also has a gymnasium, tennis and pickle courts, etc. I don’t have to clean or maintain anything, and they have way more than I could fit even if I wanted to.
