    What's your training split? Maybe a training vlog to see how long your workouts are and time it takes to set up your lever arms etc.

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      I can definitely do that. Been toying with a training video just didn't know if I should venture down that road because then you really open yourself up to criticism haha. But I can approach it the same way as this video where I'm just showcasing my own training and not preaching that it's what everyone should do. I'll plan it out!

      @@MattRosenman you can not just show that and perhaps even monetize a training program

    Love the tour man, and some of the ingenuity behind how you rig up and use your equipment! Unfortunately my space is roughly half the size of yours, but I've used your videos as inspiration. There's so much you can do with a small space now, the home gym industry has come suuuuch a long way in the past few years. I assume you went with more of an all-in-one solution?

      @@MattRosenman so true! Options where I live are pretty limited, and height was a factor too, so I've got myself a modular(ish) rack that's allowed me to add lever arms and a DIY pulley. I've had tons of fun trying to innovate with what I have. Honestly the task has been to keep the main goal the main goal, and not allow myself to turn into a gym equipment nerd that looks DYEL. Might sound bad-spirited, but ive seen a fair bit of that since I joined the community and that's not what I want for myself 😅

    Dude your setup is incredible! Absolutely love all the decisions you've made throughout. I'm trying to emulate you, you seem like such a grounded person man. Been following you since that 30+ exercises with lever arms video, good stuff.
    I wanted to ask if you've ever thought about using the pulleys on your lever arms? I've seen others do it but I guess if you wanted to do something like a seated row the vendetta would have to be under the pulleys vs a hammer strength iso bench that would have to be above... is it annoying taking those off? Maybe something like Titan's that come on and off.. but then they have no stopping mechanisms.

    I'm SO jealous of your space. My basement gym is a "room" (not technically a bedroom cause the window isn't big enough) with the breaker panel and my rack barely fits and I definitely cannot do chin-ups because of the ceiling height. That said, I think I'm gonna try some variations with the barbell with the legs elevated. Love your setup and the custom donut plates. Really wish I had invested in something to be able to do flys... I may wait and see if a cable pulley system fits the budget. Also on a BoS rack and I love it!

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are so many solutions out there that I am positive you can maximize the space! Pullups are tricky, I can't do them on my rack either due to the ceiling height. Racking a barbell to do pullups works, but I also use my lever arms to do pullups now since I have the adapters that lock them into place.
      You can look into adding pulleys directly to your rack depending on how much space you have out in front to perform flys. Lots of pulley solutions out there!

    If you make some lifting blocks you can use them with your belt squat and get a deeper bottom position. Just a pain when starting, heh, but that's what I did for mine. Not only that, got a couple squat wedges, and use them facing both directions. Slant up towards rack, creates kind of a pendulum motion, turn the other way, you get a bit deeper, more an ATG squat. I'll do a couple sets with the wedges facing me, and a couple wedges facing away.

    Awesome home gym setup, similar to what I have in terms of space, but much better equipment, though I am still in the early stages of building up my arsenal. I have a very tight space to cram my rack, weights, barbells, and dumbells in.. but also in that space is my home office setup, though mine is much tighter than what you have. I also have 2 kids at home, I tend to do my workouts in the evenings, not by choice, it just happens to be the only time I can get them in, so I invested in all bumper plates and stall mats to keep things quiet when they are in bed and I'm doing my thing in the basement. Working from home with 2 little ones at home is a real struggle though, I know the challenge, they are so noisy when overhead lol

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm very fortunate in that both my kids are good sleepers so I know I have until about 7am when they wake up. So I wake up at 5am every week day to get my lift in, then take weekends off to get extra sleep. 5am is rough, but getting the workout done first thing in the morning is always worth it. I actually set a timer and cap my workouts at one hour. Something I've done for a long time even before kids because I like to my efficient with my time

    Have you thought about switching to an all-in-one rack + smith + functional trainer combo like the MAXUM Fitness SX2 or new Valor Fitness Pro Smith Functional Trainer (a.k.a. Harbor Heavyweights HH80 v2 or Vesta Fitness 3-in-1)?
    If you're fine with the half-rack style, it seems like it'd be a great option for your space (besides maybe height limitations, although Harbor and Vesta have 86" versions) and honestly probably costs less than all the add-ons you've combined over time so you might even be able to make some money selling it all and switching!

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There are so many all-in-one solutions now which absolutely save money, but they're not really what I'm after. Having everything so compact like that limits how much supersetting/compound sets you can do, and my training revolves heavily around that. The way that most of those units are designed, you can really only do a single exercise at a time. If you set up the bench to do a smith machine movement, you can't easily jump to another exercise using the cables, for example. My setup allows me to perform barbell movements inside my rack, lever arm movements on the outside, and then cables on the opposing side, and I can jump between them all no problem. Truly just preference, but it's how I like to train so the compact units wouldn't work nearly as well for my training style.

    Great video. I have been thinking about getting a belt squat attachment, can you do a video about yours?

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely. Mine is very straightforward, it's just a BoS lever arm that I took the handle off (it attaches with a hitch pin so removes in seconds) and then just put the pin back into the lever arm with a large carabiner around it. Attach the belt and you're good to go! I set this up on my own but BoS actually sells everything you need for this same setup as a single package now: bellsofsteel.us/products/belt-squat-lever-arms-attachment?_pos=2&_psq=belt+squat&_ss=e&_v=1.0

      @MattRosenman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope, I use them literally every single day and haven’t had any issues. I suppose the one “problem” I’ve found is that the stopper balls end up sliding around a bit over time, but I put the tiniest bit of electrical tape on the end of my cable and it solved it completely. But that’s not a huge deal either way.

      I could absolutely put together a wishlist, but given my current space, I don't feel I'm necessarily missing anything. With more space the first thing I would buy is a leg press/hack squat combo machine or pendulum squat. Leg day still feels mostly limited to squats/deadlift/lunges and then throwing in some other movements like leg extensions and hip thrusts. I would absolutely love some kind of actual leg press and machine squat option, but I wouldn't force it into my current setup because they take up so much space

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      80". I only have about 1-2" of clearance above it which I why I had to go with the bolt down version- the flat foot rack adds a few extra inches and I just don't have the ceiling height. I shopped around and most racks were just too tall which is why I settled on Titan

    • @hunterwynne2450
      @hunterwynne2450 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MattRosenman that makes sense. Thanks for the response. You mentioned that you didn’t bolt it down due to the cable towers being attached to the backside. If I only had one cable tower and bought the same titanium rack as you, would I need to bolt it down?

    • @MattRosenman
      @MattRosenman  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It honestly just depends on your setup. If you grab weight pegs and store plates on the rack then it's going to be plenty sturdy. As is, a 3x3 rack is gonna be pretty sturdy. It may shift a tiny bit over time as you continuously rerack the bar, but I'm not racking 800 pounds where I worry about it tipping. The only thing you'd really need to watch out for IMO is if you're using a lever arm setup like I have. When you load up the lever arms and set a starting position away from the rack it would be a high probability of tipping without enough weight on the backside to counter-balance.

Your setup has me thinking to put it in the middle of the room and/or getting a 4 post attached to a functional trainer like your setup.

      Hahaha you're not wrong, it's tough to air out the basement so we work with what we've got.
      Originally I had my rack against the wall and then the functional trainer right next to it. It works fine and takes up roughly the same amount of space, so it's really just preference, but I really like this setup being all together as a single unit in the middle of the room. If nothing else, the stability factor is huge having everything all together.

      @@MattRosenman haha I feel your pain. Did you ever figure out how to do cable leg curls using your dedicated leg extension machine?

      Moving the leg extension machine in front of my cables, you can easily hook a handle around the weight peg and perform them that way. It works way better for standing leg curls than seated leg curls though. I've used that setup for leg extensions and performed dropsets with the weight stack and it worked great

      Thank you! I know I could hire a videographer to really take things to the next level because I absolutely hate trying to navigate camera settings and trying to edit these things... but I also am just doing this for the love of the game so I am happy to hear that it's at least good enough!
