    One idea for you merchandise that might make everyone happy, set it up to do pre-orders, get all the orders in over 1-2weeks, then place the order with your supplier. Maybe you can get the supplier to ship directly to your customers as well. Definitely helps out your cash flow and if your supplier can ship direct the wait time wouldn't be that bad.

    Less consistency at ironman vs half makes sense. A lot more stuff can go wrong a lot easier. It's not one for one as you double distance. The room for any one thing to be off at any time during the race is exponentially multiplicative going from half to iron.

    Somehow missed this vid last year...and I laughed at your opening line (not unusual LS :D )! You've obviously not trained for your first Ironman at age 50 years young. The biggest battle is mental; fighting to face the day's training with a positive and thankful mindset. Thanks for the wonderful laughs and also lots of great serious content too. You're a fav...and Erin is a rockstar! God bless you guys...keep on keeping on! ~Megan

    First, I love your videos and your attitude. Always looking for that extra little bit of an edge. It's great. Just noticed today that you don't bilaterally breathe on the swim. Went back and checked a couple other videos to confirm. I think it has all sorts of benefits to your form and feel, but primarily you are pulling your head up 50% less. On long distance swims I do two strokes per side - and even that is a 20% reduction on pulling your head up. I am sure this is something you have discussed with your swim coach, but thought it was something you can do to improve that didn't require you having competitively swam since you were in grade school. I am probably also not the only viewer to suggest. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration.

    Fidgeting takes up energy. You were one of the fastest cyclists while wasting energy. You were racing with a handicap and still beating guys.
    Efficiency improvements are amazing for getting faster. Much better than dropping body weight, equipment weight, or even improving aerobic capacity.
    Possibly your body stays more stiff which allows you to apply the power your muscle can put out. Much like weight lifters need to be stiff to lift stuff overhead well. If they are not stiff they will fail with a heavy weight - as they won't be able to apply their strength in the desired vector.
    One of the reasons I watch you is cause I respect you as a top athlete and wonder what tips I can learn from you.
    Today - pondering on that training shouldn't be dreaded. Mm. In the past I used to dread some training - I think it was because I was shooting beyond what my body was capable of ever achieving. Making peace with where we're at and working out to improve ourselves instead of big goals will let us go at our pace. But going at our own relaxed pace is exactly how we go faster isn't it? I mean in the water if you relax you swim faster you said, in running I find the same thing. I think it applies to overall training as well. Relax and you will reap the maximum progress in the shortest amount of time. Whip yourself to try to reach a certain goal and injuries begin to pile up as morale plummets.
    Some times I will slightly reduce a planned work out. Or take a really long time warming up to get me in the mood. Lots of self massage, stretching, targeted mobility warm ups, some light activity and suddenly we feel ready for a quick workout :)

    My bike fitter told me fidgeting equals lost power plus increased aero drag. He looks at his job as doing all he can to make the rider as comfortable as possible in a position that can be held comfortably while not creating unnecessary drag. Curious to see if you find the fidgeting is a personal habit or if it a poor bike fit causes you to fidget.

    Many people fidget, because it’s micro moments to relax the muscles by changing position. The question is if the overall power output will go up without fidgeting and if cramping will become more likely, and/or how it will impact your running. Fidgeting is a subconscious behavior to elevate muscle fatigue, so I would be careful to mess with it.

      As a non-English speaker, what does fidgeting actually mean on the bike? To nervously move around, or what?

    • @fritsgerms3565
      @fritsgerms3565 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danmartin9086 not sure how you could know that. fidgeting on a bike can have many reasons, like bad bike fit, bad material, even the training done before with tired muscles groups. Most people fidget because there is some form of compensation, like muscle imbalances, uncomfortable positioning, or muscles that are overcooked (that includes stretching). I consciously fidget with high efforts to relax the muscles and dont need to do it with lower efforts. I also have never met someone that has more than 10K training hours that fidget without a good reason (that does not mean it does not exist).

    • @fritsgerms3565
      @fritsgerms3565 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peterjaray8518 good question. my assumption is, what is meant, is that you very shortly move out of your ideal power position. So, repetitive sitting up, or small stretches, or sliding on your seat to work slightly different muscles (back, leg, neck, shoulder muscles) for a moment. Then slipping back into your power position. doing those things I would consider to be fidgeting.

    The human body regulate it self by how many hour per day you are to hot or cold so swetting 5h and then be in a house with ac doesn't get your body enough hours in the heat for it to really down regulate thyroxine. You need to suffer extreme heat for days on end and you will extremely quickly be much more heat adapted.
