Great recap. I live-streamed/closely tracked every one of your races and of course watched every race series and follow up interviews. You were pretty hard on yourself in some of them- it’s great to hear you believe 2021 was overall a win. 2022 is going to be even better.
No favorite race more impressive is every event you competed 100% and always finished w a smile regardless of finish place you look like you are having fun that is inspiring

I think the real proof that we are all hoping for is that you’re NOT a broken record at the end of 2022 and that you are in fact dialed in. Whether or not you’re winning the biggest races, not having another recap of what you will do differently.

Amazing learning all year long, Lionel! Proud of how you kept plugging away at the swim (super happy you found a great group to improve your swim) and love how you just worked at feeling the water! “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” Enter Gustav’s brother, Mikal. One are that would still behoove you to dive in more is your run form (best thing you might consider is reaching out to a sprint coach as they are mechanics focussed). One of the best in the world is Donovan’s Baily’s old coach . . . Dan Phaff! Merry Christmas to you and Erin and a Happy New Year! 2021 was the year of IM. be smarter in 2022. pick your races and the amount you race, its a big year with 2 IM championships and a PTO series with big prices. focus on these. have enough rest inbetween races. no reason to do b2b weekly races. you have nothing more to prove in those "plain" 70.3 races in the IM circut. your insights about your self, being honest with one self, your insights about the sports, the advancements are priceless and unique. this is why i, and i guess many others, follow you. best of luck. 2022 is the year of the attack of the vikings on IM distance, go give them hell.

Surrounding yourself with the best as the way forward Lionel - you have the system - show me your friends and I will show you your future 💪 trusting Mikel fully and just go for it - all in!! For me I find working on the core and keeping head still stops the rocking on the bike apart from 100 watts we are very similar and we know that only Kristian can match you for mental strength. You can do it!!!

Lionel I don’t think you know how much you impacted all of us if it were not for you my training sessions would be average but watching your trading sessions pushes me to the Max every time so to me your a real pro. Thank you for your motivation and good luck. 2022

I’ve gotta tell you Lionel, following you for the last few years has been like supporting an underachieving sports team, you know they’ve got the potential but just never seem to get it right! This was the year where that all changed. Something’s clicked, the schoolboy errors are in the past and and it’s clear that you know exactly what needs to be done. I have a feeling that ‘22 is going to be the best year of your career and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds. Good luck and thanks as ever for bringing us along on the journey.

I've heard this before from Lionel but this time, I feel he is ready. There is nothing new about zone 2 training and Seb Kienle has been telling Lionel for years that it wasn't sustainable to race every training session. I think his issue may have been trust and patience.If anything the progress he's made this year on his swim by accepting to trust someone to actually train him gives me confidence that he is ready to take advice and that great things are coming!

I know Lionel doesnt want to mess with "tactics" and all that stuff, but at the end of the day it's about who has the shortest time to finish, not who pushed themselves the hardest or put out the most power. Hopefully he can swallow his pride and start racing smarter. Excited to see the next level! Make sure you're taking your hormonal cycles and recovery cycles just a seriously as your training intervals! Let's go get it!
