I have these and have worn them a lot recently, sometimes wearing them for 5 days straight just to really break them in. I’m alternating them with the British Tan cap toe, which is another stunner, but an even more stern leather for breaking in. I have a lot of Grant Stones, and the quality and comfort are exceptional. I save all my boxes!
I have the diesel in tan Essex with a rubber sole that I love. Although not a current issue I did notice some separation on the toe of each boot. For whatever reason that separation seems to have self healed.
Thanks for the video, it was enjoyable to watch. On the sizing, I can also say that if a person has a lower volume foot, going a full size down on the Leo last gives a perfect fit. Going the "recommended" half-size-down also works for me with thicker socks, and I have Leo last boots using both of these approaches. Among the Grant Stone makeups, this Saddle Tan with the Badalassi leather seems to have become a bit of an icon. I have the natural Minerva makeup and it also ages and darkens nicely. Agreed, it's hard to beat Grant Stone when it comes to quality of materials, construction, and finishing. Worth the current $400 if one can afford that.
My experience with the Grant Stone Leo last differs from this and that of many others. I am 10 1/2D Brannock. I wear 10D in Redwings (Iron Ranger and Moc Toes) but I needed a 10 1/2D (my actual Brannock size) in Grant Stone Diesels, Ottowas, Edwards. When GS owner Wyatt saw the Deisels on my feet he even advised my sizing to 10 1/2E. I do usually wear thicker wool socks.
Wore my ostrich Diesels today. 100% agree with the unboxing, it in itself is worth the price of admission. I rather like the hardware. If it was polished brass, it would remind me of Dr. Marten. If it was nickel plated, Iron Ranger. The antique brass works well, and really like how the eyelets/speed hooks are larger than what you're likely to see on other builds. I think the larger size gives it a casual edge. Everyone does need to have at least one leather soled boot. There's just something intimate about walking on all leather. And the look, it's just a classic. However, it's not something I would spec on a daily driver. I do have 3 in my small arsenal.
One of my favourite boots from Grant Stone. I recently also picked up the natural Minerva Ottawas and they are equally stunning , patinates wonderfully just like the saddle tan Minerva leather. Have you conditioned these yet ? If so, what did you use ?
@@sliedude thanks for the comment but they are Saddle Tan Minerva. If you watch the unboxing part you will see that’s how Grant Stone named it back then. I do think they just call it saddle tan now but in the description it says Minerva.
I get Lulu toe plates installed on my leather soled shoes. Really helps.
I should start doing that also.

It is 96 outside. I am sad I cannot wear my disel boots in the summer!

I love your jumper, what brand is it?
@@emus69 its from Dockers
just wondering if the leather sole will be ok in rain or wet areas? how about in the snow?
@@ddr80 I’ve worn only leather soled dress shoes for years in rain and snow and have never had problems.
Hi I think your title is wrong. It is saddle tan not saddle tan Minerva. I think Minerva is a different leather. Cheers

Minerva is the leather name(like cxl from horween) and saddle tan is the name GS gave the color (I think badalassi calls it cognac)
They are Badelassi Carlo Saddle Tan Minerva. I have the same pair..
