Wow, I remember being in Dublin, Ireland, as a kid in the ‘70s, visiting family coming from Brooklyn, NY, and if you had a 5 quid note, you were “rich”, and the birds followed. Those birds loved us 1/2 Italian blokes from The States with a Brooklyn accent. Those Ballymun flats worse than any public housing project in Brooklyn, Jaysus talk about poverty.

then again... the boots are 45-100e, and you can still get un used surplus of them, and you loose the ability to use them on special ski bindings... all tho ig you dont need skis in tasmania.

Thing is £370.00 comes out to ~AU$716.50 (or ~US$471.75) so don't let the cost in British Pound Sterling fool you.

Hello Dan, yes indeed! For all our methods of goods transport... well the post can't come fast enough (Hence I'm writing this only from seeing the video). But this video, ah. I will admit I've been checking back on the channel more regularly than I'm proud to say waiting to see just how you'd done it! Worth getting up at 6am on a Sunday for!
Thank you for taking on the job. I'd asked a number of places here in Tas about it and the response was... varied to say the least. So receiving that first email back with you also being interested was quite an exciting thing! From "Guess they'd be relegated to being worn to go to the wood pile now" to "back to work!" (And possibly the pub if the floors right and I won't damage it... or go posterior over mammary gland)
Little bit of an expanding for anyone interested, These M34s are a post war set. No idea of manufacture date. Identical to boots used in the war, apart from the fact the war time ones had leather soles (AFAIK). Interesting thing to note on the before boots, is the cutout round the heel, thats designed for cross country skies to fit in! Otherwise the boots are in pretty much OG condition.... with a good deal of beating up courtesy of me. Finding these isn't impossible though I think its get harder to do. They aren't too expensive either and take a ridiculous bashing. From being in slosh, mud, numerous vehicle fluids to being used to knock logs around fire pits. They haven't whinged.
This video is grand. Whilst I was thinking it'd be a reasonable sized job, did not at all realise just how much effort I was asking you to undertake! Thank you!
Bloody awesome. Snake protective colouring will be appreciated as funnily enough... I do call these my "snake boots" because I've hoped that they'll only latch on to the shaft rather than my calf... whether it works or not hasn't been tested and I hope it continues not to be with this added camouflage.
Also, hoping the "decorative" nails actual help with making them continue to last! The pedals on the old Massey Fergusson are obviously steel and that part of the boot is where they sit.
That storm welting is pretty grouse. Had no idea what it actually was. Very cool! Solidly built things. Awesome to see what the goings on were.
That heel stack is flamin bonza and hopefully with the added duck scent, it'll turn me into the pied piper of ducks so they'll follow me out of the crop rather than having to be encouraged to move along!
And of course... who can argue with a nail pattern named after them! Haha!
Really appreciate this job, its been quite a bit of fun to organise! Quite smooth though, thank you for that (And appreciation to a good friend of mine over there who quite by chance happened to be going to Tring at the right time!)
My girlfriends response to this was "This highlights how rubbish alot of our modern made shoes are constructed" along with numerous inserts of "wow".
So I'm ridiculously excited to get these back and how cool is it that theres a video to be able to see how whole process! Bloody fantastic. Thanks mate!
Might have to edit this comment when they turn up to say how they feel! A number of friends have suggested that I will have to try tap dancing at the pub when they do.
Now, I'm gunna watch this again cause far out that was interesting to see!
Words aren't doing my excitement justice (The fact I've just written a novel probably hints at it quite well though)
    Cheers!
    Pat

Really nice too see old Finnish military boots get best ever care. And Dan almost got them as shiny as mine used to be when doing my 11 month service in1985-86 :D The type was used until 1990:es. There ought to be a stamp somewhere with SA or SA INT and a manufacturing year number. The army may still have a couple hundred thousand pairs stashed away somewhere waiting for what fun thr ruzzians may came up mext that requires the reservist to be called to duty. This pair became a piece of art.

Glad you put the old nails tidily on the work bench and not thrown on the floor like in past videos.
In the past I've had to fast forward bits as I got so iritated by this untidiness.
    The finished job looks superb.

I too am brave. The light in my bedroom is OFF when I sleep, eh! AND I walk on the cracks in the road.
That is a beautifully sturdy pair of boots. Brilliant job done and V interesting to see the construction of that boot.

Wow! Watching the tools you used and then the sole welder and the amazing stitcher sewing machine was fascinating! Glad to see not everything has gone Jetson-Nintendo-Apple technology. The stitcher was exposed enough to see the stitching process and not buried under plastic covers.

Top notch job, well done! Men do appreciate their boots and shoes, women on the other hand just throw them away or put them in storage, never to be seen again.

Love the craftsmanship. Looks really hard to do. I’ve always loved everything about shoe making/repair. I still have my fathers old shoeshine box that I cherish with his old horse hair brushes and all, which btw will last forever seems like. Nice work.

Man!! I came here to see jackboots, But they were also Finnish, the excact model I used while in the army! I loved those boots! Unfortunately I told my friends I might "loose" those boots, and the company gear-sergeant was right behind my back!! :D -"If corporal Korhonen fails to return those boots at the end of service, I will charge him with embezzlement!!!" ...So I had to watch them like a hawk. -Nowadays, one can find them as surplus quite cheaply, but the fit is always a hit or miss. Very Cool work on the soles!!

Damn. This makes me both want a pair of those boots and also to become a cobbler. How does one attain an apprenticeship?! I bring no experience to the table BUT I do make a mean barbied shrimp and I’m willing to quote the old Batman & Robin cartoon at random during both shoe repair and lift spotting (or whenever else, as needed).
I joke, but I’m also ever-so-slightly serious. Excellent video my friend! Glad I found the channel
