This game taught me a valuable lesson. You can geek out about whatever subculture you want, but be in shape because you never know if the afterlife is going to be an eternal hellscape of monsters to vanquish and you dont want to embarrass yourself in front of the hot babes that also ended up there.
lmao as funny as that is it makes the most sense in terms of afterlife IMO. A godly authority over a spirit world makes no sense, it would just be all of us with our "demons and angels" conducting whatever business we decided was relevant upon realizing we stayed as spirits after death
The one true Isekai for Metal Heads.🤘 When I played it, it reminded me of high school early college as I banged my head throughout the whole thing. Wish it was longer. It felt the game ended one chapter too early.
I agree. It's, unfortunately, a reflection of the market. The limitations of video games in the past meant that style could deliver amazing visuals. As video games got better, people more and more wanted "better graphics, ehr mer gehrd real lyfe!11" graphics. You can look at old series like Fire Emblem with fantastic, hyper stylized pixel animations like on the GBA vs stuff like Three Houses on the Nintendo Switch where characters jump around or walk up to each other and unconvincingly whack one another.
Well if u fought a shit load of demons in cult cloaks, sexy demon nuns, and had an ancient beast revive u and bring u to an entirely different world, would u be surprised that a giant worm thing came out of nowhere?
This game deserves a remaster god damn it. It would look fucking amazing with modern graphics but even then the game still looks phenomenal to this date and its very unique. I love this game and wish there was a sequel to this masterpiece
Tbf it was already in 1080p already, and the style shown by the limitations is already very solid. Shades and graphics looks very good. No.. we'd need a sequel out of this franchise

Play maneater or high fi rush. Hifi rush is like brutal legend but if it was more anime and skate rock inspired. Maneater is well done shark game that also is like the most overthe top parody of almost every major shark movie. Both fun

I don't understand what was an issue with this game. Probably biased as fuck because metal is, and will always be, the greatest genre. Gameplay, soundtrack, story, fucking everything was great. I couldn't put this shit down back when it released.
I wheezed at the scene where Lars said the best quote I've ever heard in the game which is: "the time has come for you to- SHUT THE HELL UP LIONWHYTE!"

Is it just me or does it feel like this art style and animation feels like there is more emotion in their faces that looks even better modern photo realistic triple A games

Sometimes you can express a lot more with cartoonish exaggeration than with photorealism.
“What do you do with a bunch of kids who don’t know how to do anything but bang their heads all day?” “You start a revolution Lars.” Best line of this whole game. And that’s saying a lot with the awesome dialogue of this game.
The thing is the visuals still hold up and look fantastic even today because they’re so stylised. Plus the gameplay bangs, and the soundtrack is absolutely timeless
Now i 100% agree the whole RTS part is wierd and could been done better.. but no one can argue that this game has some of the most uniqe and original overworld i ever seen. The world just screaming with lore. And it's all metal related. It really is one of a kind and i doubt we get another one like this ever again.
Damn this game. Good writing, good humor, great theme, and some of the best names possible to voice the characters. It's only failure was it was terrible as an actual game; action/RTS hybrid with stiff action, and RTS with only the barest of mechanics - can't even get a bead on what the vision was supposed to be. Its gameplay is its only flaw, but that's the part which kills it. Without good gameplay, it makes a better movie than game.
I kinda put up with the gameplay after a while. I recently beat the campaign and need to finish the last collectibles. Its a great game. But yea there was at least two race challenge side quests that were a bit challenging and you had to follow the light or fail. The last few RTS missions do get a bit difficult and quite honestly i was glad they were straight forward. The melee combat could use some work... and i used the guitar/car more often. The car is at least controllable but just be careful how you boost, thankfully you can get outta the car anytime. I wish demon form was something outside of RTS missions. I personally enjoyed the time. Their is a lot that can be adjusted/fixed
It was such an amazing game. A labor of love full of passion. Some people where weirded out by the RTS aspects of it but I found them very refreshing and a nice addition to the other gameplay. The game had so many cool moments, soooooo much style in the setpieces, enemies, attacks, story and of course the music. I would love to play a modern remake with up to date graphics.
Regarding the presentation: A lot of people have said something similar but frankly I think you're all missing the point. The art is DRAWN. "up to date" graphics doesn't even make any sense in this context.
@@Brainfracture Believe me, I perfectly understand what you are asking for, I just don't think you realise what an ask it is with this style of art, essentially - they would need to go and remodel everything again, and in the process are at risk of changing the feel of the art - take a look at warcraft 3 vs reforged. To my surprise, this game is still on Steam (and 70% off as I'm writing this) If it wasn't for all the copyrighted songs, streaming this game back into relevance could twist a remaster and/or sequel.
I've beaten this game almost a dozen times with my family growing up, it was so fun every time. And now it's a blast cuz we can drink and do it! It so deserves a sequel.
The voice cast alone is worth playing the game for, the music and gameplay are a massive bonus, I mean this is an instance where Jack Black, Ozzy Osbourne and Tim Curry are in the same game, that alone is a win
I think the most important thing this game offers is that you don't play the ego inflating "heroic Leader" your a roading helping the main guy and the point is to have fun and enjoy the ride.

It helps that the characters have stylized designs. Once again, say it with me now: a great aesthetic design ages better than adherence to realism.
