Man this series of midi videos is just what I was looking for. As someone just getting into midi and looping, I’m glad I found this brand

I have to say, your videos are amazing and while I don't have your product yet (i'm shopping for a midi pedal at the moment) You extremely friendly beginner videos an polish is swaying me heavily in your direction. You're answering so many of my questions in one clear and clean video that it's saving me hours of time searching for answers.
My goal is to work with Neural DSP and ableton to switch between presets and loop/record.
that RC500 was a friggin NIGHTMARE to program!!! Boss Midi Implementation is one of the most convoluted out there. Once its locked in though, it works a treat! Been rocking my MC8 for a couple years now, really solid controller. Thank you Morningstar!

In my rig, putting loopers early in the chain has been important for keeping midi clock in sync with other devices. Highly advise!
Totally subscribing. I'm trying to get a live rig together and could definitely use some help with all this midi stuff. I'm pretty old school and electronic music interfacing intimidates me.
The big advantage of TRS type midi cables is that they're really easy to orient, a really important aspect when putting together a pedalboard.

I love your stuff (MC8, MC6v1 and the ML5), but the smallest MIDI hub is the RetroKits 006. Coupled with the RetroKits DIN MIDI-to-3.5mm adapters, and your MIDI set up is super tight.

Hi. Yes, you can link as many ML5s as you need together via their MIDI In and MIDI Thru ports. You can set each looper to a different MIDI channel for independent control of all loops.

Is there a way to sync the grainger snare trap with Arturia mini freak ?
Strymon pedals have a special adapter to go from jack to 5 pin midi. Could you explain this in a future tutorial. I noticed my iridium works by plugin directly to the jack input of my MC6mk2, would it keep working as long as I keep connections with TRS jacks, even with a midi box in the path?
Hi. You can make MIDI connections with TRS or 5-pin connectors. It will not affect your MIDI signal. A MIDI Box in between will not affect anything either. It is just splitting and relaying the MIDI signals.

How do I connect a pedal like a morning glory that doesn’t have midi through but has an expression input? Will I be able to use the expression outs on the Morningstar to the expression in on the morning glory to turn it on/off using the Morningstar. Or do I have to buy the looper?

When can I buy your switcher again?
Hello , can we use Strymon 1/4 exp trs to 5 midi cable , MC6 stereo jack exp 1 out to 5 pin midi in Big Sky for exemple , i tried all types of connection in the editor ( standard , ring , type B ect ....but doesnt work ) or it goes only one direction jack to 5 midi pin maybe ? thx
Yes, you can. You need to make sure that your TRS to 5-pin cable is Type A. Select 'MIDI Out - Standard' for your MC6 Omniport.

How can I control my jet revelation pedal through mc6 via exp 2
You just need to set the Omniport (exp2) to "MIDI Out - Standard" and connect it to the Jet pedal MIDI port with a TRS cable.

can I connect my golden boy by Jackson audio into the expr 1 on the mc6 and controlled it from there?
Hi. Yes, you can. Just set the Omniport to 'MIDI Out - Standard' and you can control the GB directly with a TRS cable

I never realized there were pedals for MIDI, I assumed they were all analog effects. Now I just have more stuff to spend money on 😂 Also, please make your MIDI cables available in other colors besides black.
the midi din uses only 3 pins, so it isn't strange that a trs cable can be used. they should have moves over to trs years ago imho..

Hi. The Boss VO-1 does not have MIDI.

Hi. The cable you have mentioned is 3.5mm, why would you need to use a 1/4 inch adaptor? Also, you did not state which Strymon pedal you are using and whether it has a DIN5 or 1/4 inch MIDI port.

@@MorningstarEngineering I apologize...it is Boss ES5. However, I am thinking of buying Strymon conduit midi hub because I have Boss SY200 and want to combine them together via conduit. Is that possible?
@@jeant9946 There should be no issues using the ES5 with the conduit, but you should check with Boss to be sure since it is their product you are using.
Is midi thru and midi out the same thing?
Hi. They often share the same port but they are technically not the same. MIDI Thru is the passing through of MIDI from an incoming source out to other devices. And MIDI Out refers to the generation and sending of MIDI.
Nuenaber used a 2.5mm trs on their illumine - to avoid people adding headphone trs into the port - might be the only one
Yes, that is correct. Neunaber also includes the required 2.5mm to DIN5 adaptors with their MIDI capable pedals.
The old method with MIDI IN to MIDI THRU was most effective with just one cable between interface. The new method is so ridicilous !!! Adapter, cable, converter, power supply, cable. Its so simple to add the old MIDI port and costless for the conceptor and the musician.
