I honestly would love a sequel where Shawn is still alive and is just owning the house as semi normal as possible. He is creped out to death and is haunted daily by the undead spirits and cant ever leave the place. But he gets wifi installed, have people come out to fix it up, give tours that might knowingly get people killed, etc. The second movie should be a home fixer up horror comedy, having him be someone who exists in the modern era could really play to the strength of the sequel.
I think it was a genius move making the movie as a live stream. The next evolution to found footage was always bringing the spectator from a simple witness to an active part of the movie and a live stream helps this purpose greatly.
@@kaiseremotion854 i'd say found footage genre has always had a big logistical problem, answering the question "why wouldn't you drop that goddamn camera and run?" some of them try to justify it by using the cam's night vision or lamp, but that gets old really fast.

I like the weird idea that Shawn and the ghost lady end up as some weird married couple. The ghost always trying to kill anyone that comes in the house, and Shawn having to try and get her to see reason and not kill anyone.
I like the running gag with Shawn naming every single camera he sets up, even in dire situations, like when he used a GoPro to keep track of Mildred and named it "MILDEAD."

The ritual it seems bound the ghosts to him, not him to the house so he could presumably leave with the caveat being the ghosts come with him. Yes, that is literally what the end blatantly implies. That he won and he is now the master of the spirits No idea how people came to the conclusion that he is getting attacked
This is a fantastic evolution of the found footage genre because it's actually more believable than someone holding a massive camera, running around with it (because why would they still carry it if they are running for their lives), and that somehow is found later off screen. Livestreaming creates this believe-able scenario for the audience as if you're watching the stream in real time. Something a lot of us do in this day and age.

An attention hungry ghost makes a lot of sense. Mildred could have killed him easily but she knew people were watching. She could have also taken off the go pro. She dragged thingd on not knowing she was dealing with an equally attention hungry person.
Thanks for featuring this awesome little gem! I find so many great movies through your channel! I enjoyed this film a lot more than I thought I would! I love found footage but the genre can get repetitive, this was a fantastic deviation from the norm and the practical work was so enjoyable! My fave design was the little kid toward the end!
I freakin loved this movie. I enjoy "found footage" and thought I'd give a try while editing photos and ended up just engrossed in the movie it was so entertaining. I hope they do another one!
I thought Shawns biggest mistake was that he livestreamed the method of forming the contract. He might be the head of the house now, but as soon as someone else does the contract, Shawn is going the way of Mildred.
I love that there are reasons for him to investigate when most would bail, and that's AFTER establishing his greed. After what some live streamers have done for money, it makes sense. Edit: Okay, this entire movie looks like a ton of fun! Total Evil Dead 2 vibes and I love it XD
I watched this movie with my bros and we all enjoyed it. Which is a rare occurrence since we all have different opinions. We even do ratings after the credits roll and it ranged from 9 out of 10 to 10 out of 10. This movie was incredible well done with humorous and creepy moments.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. I think the entire idea of a movie where we get two different perspectives, one of the people being haunted and horrified, and the other of the ghost(s) laughing their asses off while they mess with the poor family. The people being haunted perspective is 100% serious and acts like any other horror movie, while the ghost perspective if a horror-comedy type deal.

A year late, but I watched this on a whim with a friend the other day having remembered this video and we both loved it! Friend is real into movie makeup and was delighted by the practical effects.
We came close to a found footage Michael Myers movie with Halloween: Resurrection. The few scenes taken in POV camera shot of Michael slaughtering stupid college students breaking into his house are genuinely creepy.

I can definitely see this becoming like Grave Encounters. They should make a sequel. Like his brother or sister watched the stream and didn't believe anything. Attempts to find him but ends up in the same mess. Maybe the force over guy will make him the villain and the person can try to find a way to free him.
Honestly, I am just happy he continues to put up videos. These kept me sane during the lockdown. It's like talking to a buddy about something (horror movies) they're really excited about. A small part of it is that it's one degree of separation so the concept of the movie isn't as scary Another part is that I'm not missing out by not fully watching it, so I'm still "in the know" Another part is I only have to spend a fraction of the time to get the scoop on the film But the biggest part is that hearing them discuss the film is as good as watching it, sometimes better. Kinda like a react video but relaxing and enjoying. From the fan/community base. Thank you

Love this movie. So funny and original. I tell everyone I swap horror movie titles with to watch this. This, (now), Haunt(2019), “the house October built 1&2” and others are on my Halloween time watch list.
I agree it shows him being proactive instead of being passive or reactive like most horror characters. Reminds me of ash from evil dead or ripley from aliens
Right, sure he was “tricked” but with his newfound deal, he is now the one in power at the house. And since he isn’t dead, it’s likely possible he can take his new entourage on the road. The ritual didn’t seem specify that you were bound to the location, only in so much that it was the seat of your power. Her existence was twisted, this is true, as will his be. But a modern Devil makes concessions. Her bait was luring a man, building a family. Maybe what he said about her wanting an audience was true too. But with everyone calling her mama of the house, it seems more likely that the first option is the main motivator. With a modern man coming in and offering an infinitely more lucrative deal, The Devil had to take it, he’d be a fool not to. Something people seem to neglect is that The Devil can in fact, just say no. He doesn’t say yes to every deal, if he thinks he can get more. At the time, she was a poet, with the power to influence, that kind of person could bring a lot of souls down to hell, but she didn’t really do that in life, after life she did, because of course she did. But with him alive and holding that kind of power? The Devil might even let him go, soul and all, considering that unlike his previous deal holder, this guy has the potential to drag hundreds of thousands, if not millions of souls, straight to hell. See, if he made the sacrifice, did the ritual, and what he had to offer wasn’t as good as what she had, The Devil would just say no, have her drag him to hell, and get both their souls, with her dragging a few occasional ones, ramped up now since this stream. But if anything, The Devil, The Deceiver, is a cunning and intelligent foe. Accepting his deal, and letting him roam and continue his life, with the added stipulation of dragging his fans to hell, is exactly the kind of deal The Serpent is willing to wait eons for, and unlikely to pass up when it goes by. Of course this is the more biblical Devil. Depending on your version, most of them are cunning and smart enough to follow this logic, but there are a few who are kinda just mindless monsters bent on destruction. Which is boring. And I don’t think those interpretations usually do the whole ritualistic deal making thing.
I love how the guy who made this actually understands TH-cam culture and how it works but also sees imperfections in it and makes it funny to laugh at but it's just a small touch of reality in a horror movie.
Appreciate your work and thank you for always keeping things entertaining and succinct all while rocking different hairstyles through the years. If ya ever get the chance or want. would love to hear your thoughts on Skinamarink.
Threw away the spark plugs... Really!??? 1) Now how do you plan on leaving AFTER the challenge is complete? 2) Simply, WHAT IF there really is something that goes truly wrong, paranormal or not, and you genuinely HAVE TO LEAVE? What then? That may be one of the laziest ways I've seen in a movie as the reason the car cannot be used to get away EDIT: Wait, so he also threw the key to the house down a vent that leads to only God knows where. Certainly not the MC. So like the spark plugs, how tf does he plan to get out the house after the challenge. This dude is literally insane. I know he doesn't think anything paranormal will actually happen, but he's literally throwing away things that he needs even after completing the challenge. He's going to need to call someone to bring him new spark plugs and find a way to break down the door. He's streaming the entire thing. There's no reason to throw that stuff out. There are live witnesses to see if you bail or not.
It’s a play on the extremities people will go through to make something ‘worth watching’. The exact thing he did is so ‘what the fuck’ that it would make a real live audience more intrigued. In case you didn’t notice, everything he did was for views. He was also HEAVILY trying to redeem himself. He probably thought ‘it doesn’t matter what happens or goes wrong if I can’t get my viewers back’ so just decided to do whatever he could to entice viewers. It’s not too hard to just watch a movie and not overthink things my dude. It’s all entertainment. People do really dumb shit on a day to day basis so it’s not hard to expect some stupidity from characters or the people writing those characters. I mean, come on, there’s a montage of the dude doing idiotic things in the beginning of the movie. Dude snow sleds in his underwear in below freezing weather and you question him tossing easily retrievable spark plugs a few feet into the woods?
@@TheSCPStudio idk what a lot of your comment has to do with mine, and you coming across kinda hostile, don't do that. You're not that guy. I understand the movie perfectly fine as much as I can from seeing it on here, I don't care what you thought about it. Good day.

I love found footage but the genre can get repetitive, this was a fantastic deviation from the norm and the practical work was so enjoyable! My fave design was the little kid toward the end!
And the moral of this story is your life is more important than money and followers
I freakin loved this movie. I enjoy "found footage" and thought I'd give a try while editing photos and ended up just engrossed in the movie it was so entertaining. I hope they do another one!
The abrupt cut at 1:20 threw me off guard lol love the content
I thought my internet glitched or something. Didn't even finish the sentence. 🤣
Yeah lol he probably just cut it like 1 second short in whatever program he uses
He must've accidentally cut it too short and didn't notice lol
I thought Shawns biggest mistake was that he livestreamed the method of forming the contract. He might be the head of the house now, but as soon as someone else does the contract, Shawn is going the way of Mildred.
I love that there are reasons for him to investigate when most would bail, and that's AFTER establishing his greed. After what some live streamers have done for money, it makes sense.
Edit: Okay, this entire movie looks like a ton of fun! Total Evil Dead 2 vibes and I love it XD
This movie was a masterpiece thanks for reviewing!
Dead stream was a great movie truly the peak of the livestream found footage genre this was great had me laughing so hard, even just the chat got me which is always great in something like this
Thank you for covering this movie! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to see it, but your ending explained had so many clips that surprisingly made me laugh out loud and now I really want to see this.
A year late, but I watched this on a whim with a friend the other day having remembered this video and we both loved it! Friend is real into movie makeup and was delighted by the practical effects.
I think it’s time to bring back found footage films like could you imagine if movies like nope or a new Halloween filmed in the found footage style?
We came close to a found footage Michael Myers movie with Halloween: Resurrection. The few scenes taken in POV camera shot of Michael slaughtering stupid college students breaking into his house are genuinely creepy.
I love this video... Best channel with great content. I never want them to end. I've rewatched your videos at least 3 times and still want more and more. Thank you for always keeping me entertained and wanting more. Lot of love from Australia🌏💜🥰
This movie was so hilariously scary. Loved it
hello beautiful 😍
@@rogdawg123 hi
I can definitely see this becoming like Grave Encounters. They should make a sequel. Like his brother or sister watched the stream and didn't believe anything. Attempts to find him but ends up in the same mess. Maybe the force over guy will make him the villain and the person can try to find a way to free him.
The most impressive thing to me is the set design. I can smell the rotten house through the screen, it's pretty impressive I think
They used a actual abandoned house which is why it looks so disgusting. I can also smell it through the screen.
This movie gives me Grave Encounter vibes.
I love Grave Encounters. The 1st is funny but also has good scares
@@milanrielle Its another good found footage horror movie so no wonder.
Imma be honest... I'd absolutely watch a series about this dude and a bunch of ghost co-hosts.
Honestly, I am just happy he continues to put up videos.
These kept me sane during the lockdown.
It's like talking to a buddy about something (horror movies) they're really excited about.
A small part of it is that it's one degree of separation so the concept of the movie isn't as scary
Another part is that I'm not missing out by not fully watching it, so I'm still "in the know"
Another part is I only have to spend a fraction of the time to get the scoop on the film
But the biggest part is that hearing them discuss the film is as good as watching it, sometimes better.
Kinda like a react video but relaxing and enjoying.
From the fan/community base.
Thank you
💯
Saying that person needs a dentist is a severe understatement🦷🦷🦷
I have a toothache rn no joke
@@Schinzo__oh man they are the worst! I hope you're ok and you don't have a serious dental issue, since for some reason dentist's are now acting like all you need for serious and completely legit dental pain is freaking ibuprofen. Ridiculous. Feel better soon 🖤
@@iamV10010 thanks 💯
This was such a surprisingly good movie.
please do a video on The Fog from the 2005 film, I never understood it and it makes me feel stupid not understanding it so if you could do a video about the twist and explain it that would be awesome!
I’m pretty sure the blonde chick was like a reincarnation of the leper chick
Shawn running thru the house and screaming in high pitch had me cracking up, and the things ppl was saying to him on Live?
I hope the sequel is him doing a podcast from his eternal stay at the house.
It's like a how to on what NOT to do when streaming in a haunted house
Yes, lock yourself in and toss the only key for clout. It wouldn’t be surprising to see irl these days. I liked this alot
Prob my fav horror movie I watched in the past 2 years.. A total surprise, it was a perfect mix of scares and comedy and never really deviated from the core of being a horror movie.. Really impressed by this wife and husband duo, cant wait to see what they do next!
I rarely rewatch movies, but this one was so hilarious and well done I watched it 3 times! 😂
3:59 thats...thats not to stop someone from getting in. thats to stop something from getting out.
At the end, you can see the finger he cut off turned to resemble Mildreds finger
okay the fact that the cornerman stabs him back made me laugh way too much
This movie was so much better than I thought it would be in the first few minutes.
I've watched the movie before but it just hit me the car hes driving is a Chevy blazer and those are notorious for having one spark plug that's very difficult to remove so a ghost being able to do it quickly is pretty hilarious.
Lesson from this movie: always and always bring a crew with you when exploring a haunted location and never ever sabotaging your mean of escape
This and RE7 has scenes in common. Gave me flashbacks 😅
Nevermind... It's all easter eggs from different horror games and movies so it seems. Pretty dope 😅☺️
This movie got kinda mixed reviews all around and I can understand why personally I’d give it like a 7.9 it has some pretty good scares an interesting gimmick (being filmed as a livestream) but the best part (although I am biased) is the absolutely amazing makeup work and practical effects I’m a huge huge huge appreciator of makeup artists and practical effects work so when I see it used well it’s always a huge selling point for me ❤🎉😂
I love that movie, it was soooo good. They got the most out of it for what little they had to work with. 10/10 from me personally
I want a sequel based on this guy's new life
Can you do a video on Cabin Fever, One Missed Call, and/or The Haunting (1995)? I've been bingewatching your videos for the past 3 days while sick and theyve been really enjoyable, your commentary is not only insightful but your jokes funny 😆
Love this movie. So funny and original.
I tell everyone I swap horror movie titles with to watch this.
This, (now), Haunt(2019), “the house October built 1&2” and others are on my Halloween time watch list.
I actually like that he was so ready to throw hands with Mildred
My opinion this was an underrated found footage film. I give it an 8/10
I'm getting cheesy 80's low budget but ambitious and talented cast and crew horror film
The beginning of the film when he just started streaming you could see Chrissy's silhouette in between the trees as well!
1:19 glad you're gonna explain the shocking internet personality lol
Imagine a sequel that's filmed like a sitcom
watching mildred fall down the stairs was absolutely hilarious
I love how the guy who made this actually understands TH-cam culture and how it works but also sees imperfections in it and makes it funny to laugh at but it's just a small touch of reality in a horror movie.
16:42 That's just peak comedy right there
The lead actor was such an enjoyable character. And when he screamed... I laughed so hard. 😄 Definitely worth a watch. ☺️
I'm not always for sequels but id like to see a chapter 2.
Shoutout to that one commenter who said “bye Felecia”
Appreciate your work and thank you for always keeping things entertaining and succinct all while rocking different hairstyles through the years. If ya ever get the chance or want. would love to hear your thoughts on Skinamarink.
He made a video on it a couple of weeks ago.
“succinct”. his videos have been getting longer and longer…
One of, if not the absolute number one movie, of my fiancée and I last year. It’s so fucking fun and scary and unique.
The best found footage film I’ve seen in a long time. Reminds me of Evil Dead so much too.
Unbelievable movie, chat is never this helpful
Can you do " STAY ALIVE " next please 🥺 it's such a good movie that not many know of and would love to get it more love
This is what I expected from “Ghost Adventures” but instead I got “Radio signals interference”.
I'm taking this as Grave Encounters 3
Threw away the spark plugs... Really!???
1) Now how do you plan on leaving AFTER the challenge is complete?
2) Simply, WHAT IF there really is something that goes truly wrong, paranormal or not, and you genuinely HAVE TO LEAVE? What then?
That may be one of the laziest ways I've seen in a movie as the reason the car cannot be used to get away
EDIT: Wait, so he also threw the key to the house down a vent that leads to only God knows where.
I mean...at least the movie GIVES a reason for the car to not work lol
Good day.
@@kaiseremotion854 True
@@neonicon8500 They could have phrased it better and less condescendingly maybe but they're right; the dude in the movie is established to be very stupid from the beginning. The dumb characters in these cheesy camp horror movies aren't ever logical. That's kind of the standard trope. Also, why do people on the internet think everytime someone disagrees with them it's "hostile" or "an attack" lol
Who else does not like the new setup with the non skipable double ads smh lmao
