I do agree there could’ve been more time spent on her mourning her friend but I cut maya some slack because she was being hunted by the villagers at the time. She knew how dangerous they were and I get her instinct to leave ASAP. Then a lot of stuff happened and she was hit with a ton of info about her past so yeah I think she had to compartmentalize. I took her screaming in the truck as part relief and survivor’s guilt. While I’m fine with the ending I kind of wish it had been replaced or put after a scene with maya scattering ashes of clothes her friend wore in the sea. It would’ve been a callback to their earlier conversation, and showed maya mourning her best friend. Then the evil ghost grandma could’ve been after that!
Mourning? She just escaped a mob of psychos who wanted to kill her and add black Magick, revealing her true parents and situations surrounding her birth and growing up. It's a lot to take in lmfao

Am I the only one who listens to him while I work because I like how he explains the plot that I consider it more of a story time than reviewing a film?
Great movie!! I was pleasantly surprised. I have to correct 1 small thing. The driver of the bike was the cop and the dude in the back that was shot was the horse cart driver from earlier in the movie. Remember he gave her his business earlier in the movie. The cop that shot him happened to live in the village.
Really thankful for this channel; I can take jumpscares but I can't deal with the gory 'kids get harmed' stuff too much, which leads to missing out on some really good quality stories like this one
Yes!!! Indonesian horror films have been traditionally pretty low quality but lots of fun, but Impetigore is the start of something special I think. Indonesian artistic cinema is on the rise and it would be cool to see you review some other movies from my country!!
I've been a fan of your channel for some time and thank you so much for explaining this movie from my home country!! Although you may have heard of these, it would be interesting for you to explain Macabre (2009) or Satan's Slaves (2017). Nevertheless, keep making more videos, it's always a good insight to look out for that makes my days great!
Oh man, I just saw this. Dini's chase scene+death was hard to watch. I'm not normally disturbed by horror films, but those scenes did it. It was something about how they just zoomed in on her face. It was so unnerving.
I think it's funny how some of these other channels gotta tip toe around wordmines like die, sex, gun. While others wantonly throw them around and still get monetized.
if you like this movie, try "The queen of black magic" next, gorier, scarier, more haunting, and more practical effect goodness, also from Indonesian film maker.
“Queen of Black Magic” was very good, but I actually preferred “Impetigore”. It’s the first of Anwar’s films where the story is just as interesting as the filmmaking, Imho.
I've been watching you for a long time now, and I'm really happy you covered an Ending Explained about a movie from my country. I'm really happy that Impetigore is really starting to get notice by people and once again, I thank you for covering this movie. Keep up the good work!
I guess I'll put it here. I have been enjoying your contens for a while now, really appreciate of all the analysis and "walkthrough" of the plot, I'm not a big fan of horror movie, so they saved me a lot of time. Thank you, and please keep on the good work.
(1) I thought that the Mother became a vengeful spirit on her own at the end. It being a punishment for her black magic is also a viable concept but, hmmm, I dunno... (2) If I'm not mistaken, the couple at the end is also a couple who had to have their newborn drowned at the beginning. Hmmm, it sure came full circle, huh! #MASTERPIECE #Impetigore #Indonesia
Dude, I'm Indonesian and I didn't know this movie existed. Glad you did this ending explained, if not, I wouldn't know a single thing about this movie. Much love from Indonesia!

Hey @FoundFlix, I recently watched the Netflix original "Beyond the Line", and I think that it deserves an in-depth explanation to an almost vague ending. Its not a thriller or horror movie like you usually showcase, but the way the movie unfolds I still think it deserves an "Ending Explained"
The sympathetic woman, Ratih, also cheated on her husband (the guy got shot at the beginning of the move), she was impregnated with the child of another man. That's why she is so forgiving toward Maya and that's why her child get devoured by Saptadi's mother spirit by the end. The whole movie is about endless circles of NTR I guess.
@@unbiasedkatie9337 Sorry to be the one to explain this to you, but NTR (netorare) is basically a Japanese term of cuck. @@dakrta509 they hope to overload the curse’s computer so eventually a normal baby comes out
@@chiangedison8080 that's surprisingly part of the lore

@@im_learning_bicth I almost all javanese cultures, a curse always had a "person" or a "demon" supervising overhead, and these beings while powerful aren't you know....everywhere at once; you get the gist
Just when I thought there was nothing else to watch, this pops in my feed. Thank you!
aint it great!
@@tylerdibenedetto2641 the best! 😁
I was feeling the exact same
I’m just watching what was in my recommendation lel
Glad to see foundflix branching out to asian movies! especially movies from south east asia! I might be biased but i feel like like horror movies from south east asia are pretty good but doesn't get as much recognition as the big western movies.
Though I'm an American. Ever since Old Boy, I've become a fan of Asian films in general.
Yeah will really deep story lines
“Aghhh miserable, no thanks just drown me pls” 💀
Dude, your pronounciation of the names are spot on for a bule. Kudos to that
I always come to this channel before even giving a movie a try. Great video and thanks for keeping the explanations coming !
Am I the only one who listens to him while I work because I like how he explains the plot that I consider it more of a story time than reviewing a film?
As an Indonesian, I feel very happy that you're covering this film 😁
Finally fellow Indonesian in good content
As a Vietnamese I'm happy for y'all too, you guys are really underappreciated
Great movie!! I was pleasantly surprised. I have to correct 1 small thing. The driver of the bike was the cop and the dude in the back that was shot was the horse cart driver from earlier in the movie. Remember he gave her his business earlier in the movie. The cop that shot him happened to live in the village.
Last time I was this early my father still loved me
We love you 😽
I'm sorry to hear that.
Original
Love you bro
Funny
Really thankful for this channel; I can take jumpscares but I can't deal with the gory 'kids get harmed' stuff too much, which leads to missing out on some really good quality stories like this one
Wow,I gotta actually see this movie now!
It's great
But u don't speak spanish
@@whitebandanaproductions3281 its in bahasa lol
@@whitebandanaproductions3281 M8 that is indonesian language also there is this thing called subtitle
@@whitebandanaproductions3281 subtitles, how do you think people watch anime, they definitely don’t learn Japanese just to do so
Yes!!! Indonesian horror films have been traditionally pretty low quality but lots of fun, but Impetigore is the start of something special I think. Indonesian artistic cinema is on the rise and it would be cool to see you review some other movies from my country!!
nah Indonesian films were always high quality like the martial arts movies. you probably need to watch more Indonesian movies
@@dynaa4168 i'm from sby lmao i've watched plenty
I've been a fan of your channel for some time and thank you so much for explaining this movie from my home country!! Although you may have heard of these, it would be interesting for you to explain Macabre (2009) or Satan's Slaves (2017). Nevertheless, keep making more videos, it's always a good insight to look out for that makes my days great!
its really good, your Almost at 2 mill subs bra keep it up, ive bin here over years now and still enjoy your content
Ngl watching Foundflix has become my 3am ritual
Joko anwar :*
Oh man, I just saw this. Dini's chase scene+death was hard to watch. I'm not normally disturbed by horror films, but those scenes did it. It was something about how they just zoomed in on her face. It was so unnerving.
The meaning in that javanese word :
"The biggest enemy is the hidden truth"
0:14 That movie's picture that all those ladies looks like Gon in his adult form
lol wtf i cant unsee that
Your videos have slowly been getting funnier and funnier recently I've noticed. I didn't think I'd laugh so much during a horror film review
I'm from Indonesia. Last Indonesian horror movie I watched was Jailangkung, years ago! Couldn't sleep for a week or more 😭.
No one
Foundflix: *SWEARS*
youtube: he's good
I think it's funny how some of these other channels gotta tip toe around wordmines like die, sex, gun. While others wantonly throw them around and still get monetized.
@@BadAtGaming3484 or maybe, patreon money is good enough for him and doing youtube is a marketing ploy for his viewer to join his patreon?

Joko's other movie satan slaves is also good.
Pengabdi setan 😰
Yessss! You finally got to this one! I recommended it months ago on the Twitters!
"Hey guys, I'm home"
.... "There she is!"
if you like this movie, try "The queen of black magic" next, gorier, scarier, more haunting, and more practical effect goodness, also from Indonesian film maker.
“Queen of Black Magic” was very good, but I actually preferred “Impetigore”. It’s the first of Anwar’s films where the story is just as interesting as the filmmaking, Imho.
@@robertr798 true, the banter between the protagonists is very interesting in impetigore.
Ratu ilmu hitam is more simple tho, isnt as interesting as this.i like this more
I've been watching you for a long time now, and I'm really happy you covered an Ending Explained about a movie from my country. I'm really happy that Impetigore is really starting to get notice by people and once again, I thank you for covering this movie. Keep up the good work!
Your narrating is everything.
I kept putting this movie off and when I finally watched it I absolutely loved it. I think it was my second favorite film to come out in 2020
I guess I'll put it here.
This channel not only is amazing for these horror breakdowns but also great recommendations for stuff I haven't seen!
A good blunt and Foundflix is the perfect combo 🤣😂. You ready??
Vodka here. Cheers! 🤙🏻💨🍸
Dude, I'm Indonesian and I didn't know this movie existed. Glad you did this ending explained, if not, I wouldn't know a single thing about this movie. Much love from Indonesia!
perempuan tanah jahanam kalo judul indo nya
Thanks dude i really needed an explanation for this movie really helped new sub!
I was really surprised when I saw the thumbnail; I was like "Is that that indonesian horror movie?"
Thank you for covering this movie!! >
We need an ending explained for the horror film “Money Plane”
That film is indeed horrific.
Ending explained for Friday with ice cube
This is very important
I looooooooveeee the way you explain movies so sarcastically
Love it! I'm still hoping you do Tale of Two Sisters.
Love your sense of humor
I'm conflicted about killing main characters i mean it's good that there's no deus ex machina or plot armour but on the other hand it makes me feel feelings
I agree 😔
It happens a lot in Asian horror/thrillers films which took me years to get use to. Granted movies here in the US do it too which sux.
bruh I didn't know about this film, but I gotta admit I'm impressed by your Indonesian words pronunciation
I been waiting all weekend for this lol
24:29 "Maybe it is time to move to another village or something"... For real..🤣🤣🤣😂
I Love the lighting at night scene, unlike any other horror night scene which is using additional over exposure lighting. This one looks as natural night atmosphere and create more some creepy effect.
Yess so happy to see Joko Anwar's work getting featured here!
Kinda proud that this came from my relatively small country of Indonesia.
Indonesia ain't exactly small bruh
@@enggardwinugroho728 Well he did say "relatively". And compared to other countries like the China and the US, Indonesia can be considered as pretty small in presence.
Thank you for making this video! Joko Anwar is one of my fav horror directors and arguably the best in Southeast Asia right now.
The thumbnail is just when you're sleeping and someone switches the lights on
Awesome review, love the coverage of Asian cinema (I saw the devil highly recommended). Your videos work in so many ways, and have helped my gf and I pick out movies we want to watch. She asked if you had a review on “it follows” I was surprised not to see it and highly recommend it.
I loved this movie! The story was great and the ending is brutal. Would love to see more from this director.
Your videos make me smile

That sounds real nice.
Ugh I’m so jealous I’m on a tolerance break next time take a toke for me 😭
Foundflix is the best on the tube
Never thought you would do this film lol.
I laughed out loud several times during the movie, especially during when the ghost kids turned to dust like Thanos was involved
And kudos to you pronouncing Indonesian names correctly
Hey Foindflix, would just like to say I love your content. Huge fan for a long time. Keep up the great work man, always excited for more!
"This is horned up village! I mean, tons of babies all the time, Bro!" 😆 I can't stop laughing!!

the grandma become a "Kuyang" or krause in thai/balan-balan in malay, this ghost appear on many south east asia country but the story and behavior differ between country. this one are indonesian because that is the story where the ghost actually eat the baby or drink blood from labor.
Let’s go!! as an Indonesian it’s so cool seeing you cover this.
Hey, you might wanna check out "Maya"
It's an Indian Tamil horror film, and it's one of the best ones I've ever seen!!
And it's not like the other Indian so called horror films, this one's actually a good horror one
Ah. I see I misread the title. I thought this was “impregnatore”
I see this as a new tag. Impregnetorare. Impregnation and ntr.
@@nguyenhaidung8833 Thank you, beloved font Times New Roman.
@@dylantaslim7806 what does NTR mean?
@@unbiasedkatie9337 Sorry to be the one to explain this to you, but NTR (netorare) is basically a Japanese term of cuck. If you don't know what that is too, that's just a person watching their lover (or love interest) get fucked right in front of them by some other person. I see that you're a journalist, so if you're that dedicated, look it up online, or search it in some hentai doujin manga type sites because they portray it much better. Be careful though, most of them are cursed.
Just finished the movie thanks to this recommendation.
