Excellent interview, well done Sir ! Hyundai right now is the ONLY car company showing real Vision on EVs. They give me hope for future fun EVs, where none existed before. It would be great if Mr. Wartenberg and team can add more sound choices to the performance EVs, especially sounds from many of the great ICE engines from past and present, but sounding analog, not digital/electric. When lighter battery tech comes, these cars will truly be the go-to choice, unless they and the dealers price themselves out of the market.

@@MotoManTV Car manufacturers are milking the no or low number of gear transmissions as long as they can. @@MotoManTV I honestly think becasue the N division has imo more flexibility than other companies, they should focus on making a small converitible rwd sports car. Similar to the GR86 and ND Miata. Somewhere in that size range but that offers more features and better performance. Also they could be the first company to make a small convertible electric car if they figure out how to make it lighter. I know it would be difficult since battery vehicles are naturally heavy but I think they could figure it out. Also as long as they can make combustible engines they could look into making another RWD sports car to compete with the 3 series, CT5, etc.

@@jsz2619they aren't milking low or no gears in EVs as a gimmick, they aren't milking it at all the simple truth is EVs don't need gearboxes.
EVs have full torque from zero rpm so you don't need a low gear to combat lack of low end torque, also EVs have a rev limit high enough that you can hit motorway/ highway speeds without the need for a high gear. A gearbox would add; weight, complexity, expense and decrease reliability for no benefit.
The only time an EV needs a gearbox is when you need to drive above the average motorway/ highway speeds (say 70-90 mph), this is why the higher end German EVs (like the Porsche) have a two speed box - to introduce a high gear that works at 90+ mph on the autobahns, most countries don't have unlimited speed limits so most countries never push an EV top speed high enough to warrant a two speed box

This Korean German collaboration is producing masterpieces! There should be some mergers of the two. Examples of international mergers are Daimler Chrysler (German American), Fiat Chrysler (Italian American), Renault Nissan (French Japanese).
All are awful. However, there is a magical chemistry between Koreans and Germans that brings out synergy!

To answer Til's question: I expect the N Division to remain true to the 3 core pillars, but I would also expect that similar to how the RN and the N74 are being worked as "mobile labs," I would want to see more cutting edge development coming out of the brand. Things like weight savings in the power pack, without sacrifice in performance or range, or inventing more wholly unexpected features to the vehicles, like the creative use of torque to simulate gear shifting in a way that pessimistic journalists find that they love in their jaded reviews.
Keep up that great work, build the brand as "affordable" innovators (see Pillar #2), and Hyundai can have as dominant a brand in this niche as Subaru has held for the past 2 decades with their single STi model released per year.

For Till Wartenberg : this is not just an n specific request.
Please have Hyundai, kia and Genesis upgrade those:
    A) sliding single visors!
Why not DUAL VISORS - like the yangwang u8 / mini countryman ?
If not dual, a single design would need a L- shaped visor hinged from B-pillar, swooping down&forward -> around the side-window and curving in front of the windscreen?
    B) Need better shade coverage around the center interior mirror as well ( sometimes still has too much sunlight leaking from gaps even when all visors are deployed)
Thank you in advance for considering these user requests !.

Going forward, I'd like to see downloadable packages for N models like this. Like say extra gauge styles, different sound packs, maybe "Pro" software packages that let you tweak with sliders the gear ratios of the artificial gears.
In terms of future products, for a sure a model that weighs under 4000lbs, gets 300 miles and costs $10-20k less. Tesla is doing that right now with the Model 3 Performance, but it doesn't have the amazing software of the N and well, its a Tesla with all its problems. There is a real opportunity to get a performance EV car for the masses here especially since tracks are adding quick charging stations now too.

    Anything goes?
I'd love to see Hyundai join in on the light, small battery, 2 motor Hybrids:
    - N Vision 74 with a NA V8 serial hybrid that sounds like an 8 speed DCT, but accelerates like an EV.
    - I30N with a 4 cyl turbo, and HV electric torque vectoring LSD.
    - A really cheap N car below the i20N.
I don't think the EV market is going to really take off until there is modular, standardized battery swapping. That would immensely reduce the initial cost of buying a new car.
The "transformation" is wishful thinking if you can't keep the same sales numbers, but sell less cars at a higher price to fewer customers.

All right, I’m gonna be brutally honest I never go to a race track nor do I seldom exceeded the speed limit. I am a Limited IONIQ 5 AWD owner. I quite enjoy getting to the speed limit quickly, but I really don’t need much more power than that. Occasionally, I need it to accelerate out of a situation but not often. However, I do want something from the N division, and that is all the technology that went into cooling and recouping that much regeneration and accepting more power through the inlets be transferred to every Hyundai IONIQ 5. The limited trim should have adtive suspension for the current price. Working on efficiency for the rest of the lineup will translate back to the N in the way of motors that are more efficient technology. I want to be able to leave a charging session where I charged from 0 to 82% gaining 62 kWh and not have the fans running for the next 5 to 10 minutes trying to cool the batteries back down on a moderate temperature day. It should be able to keep up better so it can protect that asset and actually allow you to charge more quickly. How does that help you ask? It helps because you can go further on that charge because the fans aren’t running like thoroughbreds at the Kentucky Durby using up miles of energy. Good design does not cost you more and quite obviously this won’t cost hardly anything to adopt. 22:52
