I appreciate the tartan inserts, but 4 colors is one too many - the 3 color rule applies so the green needs to go. If you swapped green with red, it would tie everything together. Just my opinion.

Why did you go with blue-green tartan when the interior already has red accents? Why not go for the aberdeen color you showed on the tartan website? At least the red on the Aberdeen would match the red stitching and seatbelts.

Very much think this is all cool. I just don't agree with the red brake calipers and Guards Red stitching in contrast will the blue, green, and tan interior. Personally, it'd be fine without the green patches on the seats. There would only be primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. With all these things, it looks like those houses that have too many Christmas decorations outside, but no theme.

I changed mine after market to tartan as soon as I got it. Sourced my tartan from Scotland using my Grandfathers tartan, made and then sent to Australia.
Mine is blue too, but matches the interior and exterior, by coincidence (thanks grandad).
It cost US$1.8K, beautifully made, and I have to originals to put back in if i ever sell it. They had the channel and the blank for the airbag pressure trigger. I then took it back to Porsche to zeroise the seat cushion removal code. It was easy start to finish and looks magnificent.

Congrats on YOUR Touring. Hope you're still enjoying it. Tough decision to forgo the 992 18-way seats because they're so excellent (vastly improved vs 991) for the Touring. But I understand your decision because the buckets look so amazing and the customization process is a big part of the overall experience.

Thank you very much for this video! I'm in the process of getting custom inserts in my carbon bucket seats (9912 Touring). The fabric arrived a few months ago already (from the US) but my trimmer won't have time until in a few weeks. I will send him a link to this video because I think he's not aware of that special part that goes to the front of the bottom insert (like I wasn't aware either). Fingers crossed we'll get it sorted out! Love your inserts and the idea of the frunk mat is awesome as well. If we have enough fabric left this will probably be something I'd do too and no, not the slippers 🙂

Love the floor mats, they really do look good with the rest of the interior. The frunk one it´s actually very useful because the standard black one gives a dark appearance inside the frunk. It´s quite fun watching this videos about the care of one´s car so more like this or what´s new with the GT3 in the future. Oh, i give you a "fun fact", if you selected back in the day the option of the short shifter in a 997S you will get both the best and worst manual gearbox ever :D

So another fun fact : A fellow GT3 Touring owner I know who makes me look like a 'set it and forget it' kind of guy had Sonderwunsch go through his entire car - even to the point of trimming the frunk in the same leather as the interior . . . which was an off white/almost dove grey. Looks STUNNING but I would be afraid to put anything in there . . .

The new Porsche owner. Let’s not talk about driving experience, or acceleration or incredible braking performance. Let’s instead talk about the spec and how different yours is from the one 20 feet away at the car show. Do we video a canyon drive at 8/10 or do we video our trunk mat? At least 10 of these guys at any Porsche meet. The first thing I changed on the GT3 was the exhaust. You did floor mats. Difference of opinion.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on how comfortable the seats are? I’ve owned a 993, 996 and 997 and found them all to be very comfortable. I’ve also driven a number of 992’s and even the 18 way seats feel like they’re made of concrete and are too narrow. I’ve also sat in a car with your seats and I can’t imagine they’re comfortable for a long journey. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks as always, for the great content.

    • @MotoManTV

Good question! Have to admit, I find the Carbon Buckets more comfortable. Why? More support and the firmness of the cushions. The only thing I don't like - especailly on longer trips - I would like the ability to adjust the angle of the seatback. Granted, not the point of that seat but would have loved an middle choice.

I am sorry to tell you, as a professional in textiles,.......the fabric will not last long! to comply with car industry requirements its a completely ball game, namely much higher abrasion and colour fastness!

    • @YYZ-SRQ
      @YYZ-SRQ 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I was thinking the same thing, clothing fabrics do not have to stand the test of time and materials chosen for cars are done with miles of research and testing. These clothing tartans could stretch out and look baggy, get piley, they are generally not treated for UV protection so maybe a faded mess in a year or two, not to mention the heat inside the car parked on a hot day and finally durability, I think abrasion resistance will be terrible. Not sure why you felt you had to change out what is a rare and prestigious car, enjoy it for what it is, akin to dating a supermodel and now you want her to change her look as you are not happy for how she looks

You should have about 2-3 yards of that fabric left and I know a seamstress that could make you a jacket. I’m thinking dark blue satin lapel or lining that matches the paint depending on the length. Next time you’re in Belmont/Gastonia NC and if you’re interested she could get your measurements and I’m sure create it to your exact specification. I’m thinking a fitted one that would be comfortable driving and if you buy a little more fabric a traditional length for the dinner/event scene. 🤔 18:53

Like where you're going with the Black Watch Tartan/Cognac, black seat belts and callipers for me as it's all getting a bit busy in there. I know the bright finish window surrounds are very GT3 Touring and look super 'up market' but for me they don't work with the neodyme wheels. Yes there as several recall issues in the UK too, it is what it is. I'm assuming you got a 3 year manufacturers warranty from Porsche when you bought the car?

Looks really tasteless - too much money and too much time - that green plaid with the tan seats is just really - well ugly…. Sorry to say. A lot of work and money to make your car really cringe worthy.

the green is so out of place. Should have went with red or white or beige instead of green.

Tartan? Aren't you Greek? Do we now need to get you fitted for a kilt with the remaining fabric? :) (saying this as someone who is barely Scottish but does have a family name tartan, verified by my distant cousin Thor in Scotland). Also, with "MotoManTV" on the kickplate, do you get to write this car off on your taxes as a business expense?

Can't say I understand the German's fascination with all things Anglo, nor how it started, but I am all in:)

And I just noticed the red seat belts? Really? Why? Now it is simply hysterically funny that a car reviewer has such horrible taste in a car that is suppose to be more elegant than the wing car. Definitely need the factory inserts so you can find a buyer for the car someday - green plaid and tan seats and red seat belts!!! What a waste of time and money. You hacked it into pure ugly.

Super Ugly interior. If you wanted tartan why not just pay a local car interior person to make it for you? Maybe $200 per car?

Been trying to find a way to change my 2015 Boxster S 14 way seats to a Tartan insert. Probably would cost more than getting it done on new Recaros.

The key reason I didn't go 18 way was the goal of doing the inserts. Yes, could have been done with the 18 ways but it would have involved recovering the entire seat.

I actually tried to buy inserts from Justin…. Maybe I’m just out of touch, but he wanted me to send him the full price of the matts on order and to send the money to his bank account or PayPal him using friends and family. Really odd interaction that looked a lot like a scam. Shame as his product looks fantastic, but who sends 5500 euros direct to a strangers bank account? Wait, don’t answer that….
