    One thing you can also do is to message EVGA support and they will send you the correct thickness pads as well!

      Ohhh, that's really good to know. Have you done this since they shutdown their GPU department? I wonder if they still support these types of questions anymore.

      @@JohnLCharette as of 2023 October they still do. I had to repaste my card due to ungodly temps and one of my thermal pads stretched during disassembly and the thickness was messed up. At the very least their support will give you the correct dimensions for the thermal pads of each model

      This is helpful because I just bought a used 3080 ti and am debating redoing the thermal pads and paste but I'll see how Temps are first

      @JohnLCharette i know this is old. But to answer your question, im moving away from water cooling and repasting/padding my card. Evga is sending me new pads for my 3080ti.

    Just use the Kritical Pad set for 3080 FTW3... They are the best ones. Those thermalright ones don't last long...

      @Stabby, if you're looking for the pads I used, there's an Amazon link in the video for the different sizes. If you buys the Kritical Pad set, all the sizes are included for you in the set.

      Is it just for 3080 FTW3 versions? Or can it work for other 3080s? I have a Asus TUF OC 3080.

      Might be a tad bit late, but each version of a same card can have different pad thicknesses depending on how asus, evga etc did their radiator@@fpshooterful best way is either you measure it as precise as possible when opening it, or scour the internet for info

      Yeah, it's a bit scary taking apart your main GPU if you don't have a backup. If you were going to upgrade anyway, I'd buy the 4080 Super, and then replace the thermal pads.. test it and sell it.

      @@JohnLCharette well in latin-america i was told by evga support that i don't need to replace them because the temps are in the good-threshold. (under 110c on vram).. i'm going to mod my GPU i will add 6 30x30x10 fans as extractors and add 1 fan on the back of the cpu chip.

      Yeah, I've seen that done before, especially when people were mining a lot. I really helps cool the VRAM. Even though EVGA told you you don't need to replace them.. it might be worth it. What temps are you getting? Core vs VRAM?

    • @JohnLCharette
      @JohnLCharette  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't confirm in person, but I would guess that they aren't the same due to the 3090 having half of it's VRAM chips on the back of the board.

      In the video description, I say exactly which thicknesses are recommended from EVGA. In the end, I may have opted to use a 0.5 thicker than recommended if I didn't feel like it's sandwiched well. I recommend having a few options available in case you run into a similar issue.

    • @JohnLCharette

      Yikes, I don't think so. I can't remember, does the 3090 Ti also have VRAM modules on the back like the 3090? If so, it'll be very different. Someone recently told me that you can email EVGA support and they'll provide you with thermal pad thickness'. Try that out.
