He is so right on. And my narcissy husband so protects his parents and refuses to accept that his neglect was abuse. He says that he was a man at six years old.

He is very defensive. That's an important description.

This was an interesting video to watch... Didn't exactly approach the subject I was seeking information on, but it was worth watching nonetheless.
When I was younger, I was alternatively dx'd w/ ASPD & NPD. It's mellowed out w/ therapy, over age, & having more functional life circumstances, but... After several months of successful sessions, EMDR has hit a roadblock. I notice those thought patterns coming back. There's an emotional resistance & FRUSTRATION is the biggest word!! It's frustrating to realize I'm not "better". It's frustrating that I'm supposed to feel emotions & to not have that feedback to heal sucks... Because I have trauma & shit. I have experienced things that hurt. I want to get past it, but being unable to access the necessary feedback is rough. What's also rough is that... Maybe it IS narcissistic, but I felt good about the fact that I wasn't treatment resistant? It's uncommon. I wanted to be an exception. So to be resisting & unable to control it is FRUSTRATING.
Anyway, thanks for the upload! I know most of us are shitty patients, but it's nice that there are some professionals who still try. Even if it's a lost cause on many individuals.

Mine did edmr, but he asked the right questions to the therapist and figured out how EDMR works and faked through the process. doesn't work in my opinion

Anyone can learn to dupe the system if they want to that badly. However, it is a very effective tool for people who want to overcome triggers.

This guy has no clue about narcissism.

Wow the guy is absolutely clueless and the woman in the blue is pretty intuitive.
The guy is out of touch and almost cynical. He needs to get out of counseling.

Actually, he's spot on. I've lived with a narcissist for 30 years. Narcissists aren't "willing" because they don't see themselves as the "problem".

He's playing "devil's advocate". He's coming from the perspective of the abuser. Most abusers are not willing to do the work so he's speaking on their behalf pulling from his own relationships with the clients he's had.

@@debbiekinner417 its nothing less than witchcraft when you determine how bad another person is compared to yourself and think you have figured everyone out with some type of formula. It's wicked
