honeslty i think the armor should be a permanent attachment, with a durability that can be repaired with a repair kit or multiple repair kits.

I'd really like to see a "Hey, come back here!" command for the runner, as it makes a suicide charge into a dozen FNIX Hunters that I would really rather just run away from.
I keep yelling at the screen “Bad dog! Bad dog!”
or a "go there and kick ass" command
I’ve found concussive to be the most useful to me because higher level machines use so many kinds of explosives.
And people kept telling me the standard armor would be the best as the paid armor would only be minor sidegrades. xD

i wish it was permanent armor rather than temporary as it just EATS resources so i typically leave mine unarmored due to me being rather new

Definitely should be buffed to last longer, but in overall looks, I'd say the ballistic armor is best.

I agree armor could be buffed to last longer but the price of each replacement when they break is just crazy to me as a pretty new player. Stock doggo gang🤙
yeah the steel and wood cost for the armor is just insane, I'm on my first character, almost lvl25 and somehow I have over 4k steel so that is not the issue but the bloody wood cost is ridiculouss considering we get so little wood from anywhere.. and yeah, the second best runner armor just melts away in one big fight against couple of tanks or a harvester and its summons, it really needs a buff or massive reduction to the cost..

Concussive helped SO much. It stayed in the fight way longer than I’d seen before.

Or a grenade launcher that instead of impact explosions it gives you splash damage on multiple enemies
I agree with you about the concussive looking the best and if you don't have the dlc yet for your doggo, you can farm for points for when you do get the dlc and then be able to get them all. Plus, rivals are the best to farm for higher points.
when the companion gets the final shot on a RIVAL,,, there is some heavy schematic points 2 be earned 👍

Concussive armour is cheap and materials are easy to get. It offers decent protection and keeping aggro from spetsnaz firebirds with their howitzer. Apocalypse harvester with their nukes. And also with the wolves. Best to have to keep the explosions away from you. If anything explosives are 2nd hardest to avoid. The 1 for me is heat rounds from the reaper, and apocalypse tank.
being a new player it is impossible to keep crafting any armor for the doggo, they melt way too fast in big fights and are way too expensive.. the armor eiter needs a buff or a massive reduction in cost.. I really like the doggo and do want to use it but it keeps draining my resources way too fast..
Your doggo needs to kill mach8nes to unlock more companion upgrades and farming wood and steel is easy. Just fast travel to bunkers and farm it. All resets every 3 hours.

I think most of us did. It's not that big of an issue, though. Rivals can give out a lot of CSP. The grind is kinda getting them to spawn.

@stijnjanssens571 I've gotten like 50 csp from a hunter but like 100 csp from a tank so just any rival works quite well.
When we get the ability to have allied harvesters and true to their name they are the best at looting. Potentially looting multiple sources of loot at a time who knows maybe if not a companion then something you can send out to gather resources like wood for example. All because I never have enough wood.
As for buffing the durability of the armor, I get why it's not really strong for the reason of it making the actual health of our doggo untouchable until it breaks, but given the resources that have to be put in every time said armor breaks I would like to see the ability to repair the armor potentially at a heavily reduced price for the sake of making repairs more desirable than just throwing a new plate on.
Beyond all that I'm a little curious as tohow far this companion thing can go like can we have more than one companion per person and if so how many can one individual have? I would just hope for if multiple dogs can be added to the squad per person that the could potentially be customized individually but also share an inventory potentially while also adding inventory foe every other dog that gets added. Of course, you could have diminishing add ons to said inventory per companion just so it doesn't get too ridiculous.
Well. It has to be treated as a separate inventory. Maybe a max of 3 companions in total, regardless of the type of companion.
Having too many would be a little too complicated. Harvesters were meant to harvest resources but mainly things like lead, steel, copper. Not things like health packs or such. (Ores).
I can see the companion expanding more since it is a feature we all requested to have for a long time. So next up would be a hunter. (Which should have better Armor and deal a lot more damage considering they are meant for battle. )
@oscarfunez3806 exactly my thoughts. Still I can imagine a harvester being able to scavenge said items with an upgrade of some kind potentially but having resources like ores be an integral part of them.

Concussive is perfect with the way i play anyway. I shoot off the machine guns or flamethrowers off first. Leaving only explosive weapons since they are easy to dodge
I use the basic because its super cheap: just recycle flares for wood and find a warehouse with some propane tanks... they come in a few crates of 5... they also reset when you teleport to your radio outside the warehouse, run back in, loot, repeat... unlimited metal scraps, and flares, fireworks and stuff are so common for scrap that I don't have too much issues when it comes to wood.
of course, the way I play is with the hacker line, so Im always turning a few enemies into friendlies for a couple minutes and that not only reduces the guns aimed at me, but also does some damage to the other enemies. the dog and I do pretty well... if my enemies are all really difficult to hack, then I usually pick my CyberMutt up and fight from cover using unstopabble s21: the one gun to rule them all because its listed as a sniper, but its truely a DMR. Semi auto makes it the perfect in between from machine guns and bolt actions, and 7.62 ammo is so abundant

I've been trying to learn how to unlock the schematics for the other armours for the metal dog and I see how it's locked so i figured it would just be time and patience but im not sure and wana know if it's a bug I haven't got it now or something else

Been seriously unimpressed by the basic armour that can see the blue version lose up to 40 points of health/durability from a single hit by a tick
I think it would have been better if the armour was something you slot in and then had a consumable kit to repair it since it's a needless faff to require going back to a station to make a new one after almost every encounter or simply have the repair kit work on both body and armour.
Companion is ok but the lack of orders (kill, heel, go here) and the way the inventory UI seemed to have been forgotten about combined with the weakness of vanilla options doesn't give me any real incentive to buy the DLC as a way of supporting the game. Perhaps if it was just cosmetics or small side grades but since the DLC also covers most or all options two out of three slots on the puppy, that just doesn't sit with me.
I really didn't understand why I couldn't "repair" my doggo's armor. I really thought my game was just bugged. Until I looked it up and found out you can't repair it. Which seems really dumb. lol.

Wait so the armor brakes and disappears after a while and you have to go make new armor is that what you say or is it you just have to use a repair kit
Think of it like 2 health bars. It goes through armor first, then health. Armor needs to be remade after being broken, health is repair kit.

YEAH, I can say that the resources requiring to use ballistic or regular is absurd. Too expensive for what it outputs in performance. (Standard should be cheap considering it is a C tier armor type. Should be the kind to mass produce) The DLC should require a tad bit more resources considering they are A tier to S Tier Armor.
Ballistic is very expensive. Though providing best armor against bullets. Still expensive to make. Concussion is ironically indeed the best. Not to mention you can mass produce it easily as you can easily farm those materials. Fire retardant should relieve a buff to resist fire. (Or at least be near immune to fire. Considering it's meant to be strong against fire. If having 1 extra flame thrower makes it obsolete, then we have a problem here. It's underperforming. )
Fun Fact: The AG4 has been fixed. Which I am glad, because it's passive fire damage, didn't do any extra damage at all when I played my runs. Now I do, in fact, notice the damage it does and see enemies blow up seconds after stacking the fire damage a whole bunch
I really dislike that the best armour is paid. All dlc ones are less expensive than the standard one, and protect the companion more. Definitely not a fan. One of the reasons I’ve stopped playing this game. All updates feel like half the content that actually has depth is behind a paywall.
These armor types should be standard. Weapon packs aren’t quite so bad I don’t think, though I would prefer they were also base game. It’s like what they did with motorbikes. You get one moped in the base game, and it’s not exactly great.

yeah, armour needs a big buff. at the moment it's just a giant resource hog replacing it all the time.
If we aren't talking about Himfjall travel concussive armor is the best. There is a lot of explosive damage and that damage may come from afar due to weird AI targeting. And the best advantage its completely immune to level 2 and 3 Firebirds. And while doggy cant be a threat for the robobirds it can mark flying targets and make them visible through the trees. Companion also may become the target for an enemy and let u deal with them not worrying about companion health.

I would buy the dlc pack but the game just feels a bit too dry at the moment. I can’t play for any longer than 45 mins at a time because I’ve completed the game. If we get a new story dlc I’ll prob get that but I don’t think the dog is good enough. Fun but not better than the player

Took a big L for this. I wish I saw this video before I dumped all my points into the ballistic armor leveling it up to 4*. But after switching to the 4* Concussive armor the damn dog is almost indestructible from explosions, bullets and fire. Im betting its a bug that will be patched because the cheapest armor is the best

How do I get more wood and steel?
well You can find wood and steel out in the world wood form little trees but they only give one wood each so not very good if You need wood fast but You find a lot of wood in backpacks sometimes up to 14 wood at a time, but if You want wood fast and if Your not using them both flares and sticky flares when You brake them down give 2 wood for each flare you brake down so if You brake down 5 flares You get 10 wood and some adhesive, or if You have the dlc that adds the heavy bow You can get the standard arrows that brake down into 4 wood and 4 steel for every 4 arrows you brake down, but for the fast steel brake down land mines You get 4 steel 2 adhesive and 1 titanium for each land mine or you can brake down the high-explosive rounds for the rockit lanchers both giving 4 steel and 2 explosives for each. braking down AP round also give steel so if You have alot of AP rounds of an ammo type you don't use brake it down for some quick steal and lastly if you are going down the root of braking down ammo and rockits then put 2 points into the salvage skill it will give you 100% ammo even ever You find ammo. im sorry for the wall of text but i hope this helps.
Just a few examples: Steel can sometimes be found under the hood of cars. Wood can be in found one by one naturally in the forests (small trees with a glowing "interactive" outline on them).
