This is my take on the easiest way to fight the reaper on any difficulty without him blowing himself up. EMP is actually quite useful. It doesn’t completely disable him like it does with the other machines, however if you pay extra close attention, it does “stun”/daze him for a brief few seconds. And perhaps the most useful aspect is that EMP rockets can prevent him from using his Thermobaric Explosion momentarily - it will completely interrupt him from doing it, and he will either have to try and use it again, or he may not at all if you run behind cover, giving you more time before he inevitably activates it again later. When he gets down to 10% health (his health can be checked using the tech view on your binoculars, looking at the “status” percentage), he will try to blow himself up. This will lower your overall loot pools by a moderate margin. He also releases a small cloud of red steam when he is at this 10% threshold as an indicator although it is subtle and not easily noticed if you are in combat with machines. If you are playing on Guerrilla difficulty (hard), the trick is to just keep shooting EMP rockets from the Experimental m/49 Launcher when he is in the process of activating his Thermobaric Attack, and swapping to the Experimental Pvg-90 and mag dumping on him to do the highest possible damage. Do this and he will not be able to blow himself up before you destroy him, guaranteeing you the best loot, provided you time your reloads for both guns properly and have enough EMP and .50 big ammo of course... the Experimental Klaucke 17 can prevent him from using this, but it’s risky. Also worth mentioning, he may not use his Thermobaric Attack to finish himself off at all if he cannot see you. Meaning you can keep taking shots at the 2-3 weak spots on his leg from around a corner without him being able to see you, this doesn’t always work 100% of the time, but is a viable strategy if the above cannot be met.
I took 1 out from a distance and it was the easiest take down ever i had no runners to worry about and I was far enough away the thermo blast didn't reach me the loot drop was amazing. ☕👍
Dude nice work! Yeah it seems like sometimes at 350+m you can maintain your distance pretty well, and avoid most of the threat! lets call that an honorary 11th tip :D
@@TenebrisInfinite what started it was he spawned right next to 3 other level 4 rivals so I had 3 tanks and a harvester I'm like hell no so I ran around himervet came back and no one moved so I scoped it out from a distance and hit the Reaper center mass with the exp 50-cal til he went down and omg exo gloves exo boots 3 exp weapons and more bullets than I could carry. ☕👍
@@MichaelM-dn1oz I just took one out a few hours ago from the top of the home base mountain, it spawned southwest of my base about 4-500 yards out, I camped up at the top of the hill and dumped about 300 .50bmg rounds into it with my exp PVG. I had to use a whopping 4 simple health packs from a few stray rounds from his HMG, I had him between the crest of the hill. I had loaded my inventory up with dozens of health packs and tons of ammo but ended up killing it with the least number of rounds I ever have before. Being able to hold my reticle still with marksman while he shoots his missiles at me (that land 100 yards short lol) allows for maximum shot efficiency, I'd say it's the ideal tactic for taking on reapers. Just took down my first ever reaper yesterday, it was a fight and a half because a wolf and two tanks crashed the party in the middle of the fight 😂 absolutely the craziest amd funniest time I've yet to have in this game and got two exp weapons out of the reaper.. I love this game!!
Not quite... i have a running theory but we'll need to wait just two more days to find out! You can be sure the moment its said on stream ya bois gunna be making a vid on it! ;D
Is it really worth to avoid the thermobaric? Isn't it better to just use this time to shoot him as much as possible, and then use Adrenaline+Advanced Healthpack?
Great video tenebris infinite cant wait to get the rest of the experimental weapons that I don’t have, I also like it when your going into more detail about what your taking about makes it easier to understand what to do!!!! I’m have problems getting the experimental lmg I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong any ideas that would help me out?
All you need to do is farm rivals, i find the apocalypse are most reliable. Good luck my dude! It can be a grind but just keep at grinding those level 4 rivals and you'll have it in your hands in no time :)
So I know this video is some days old now but I just wondered is their a player level requirement to spawn the reaper since I was grinding XP with my lvl 20 Engineer on Himfjäll and got the region level up to 23 then killed my weakest rival there, when it was time for spawning it created a basic rival, I tried again, same result. Then i tried with my lvl 31 main and I got it to spawn first try. now it's the third time in a row it spawns instead of a normal rival, so I began wondering if my character's level has something to do with it, Do you know anything about that Tene or does anyone know Haven't seen it mentioned on the forums anywhere
It hasn't been mentioned my dude, i feel if there were a level requirement then that (hopefully) would have been mentioned somewhere, we can definitely ask this wednesday, but i feel that was maybe just random chance. Though there are some things that line up with a possible level requirement, as some people have reported never getting the reaper to spawn and that may be due to their level. I'll make note of this to ask pontus during the dev stream man! :D

I would really appreciate your help you are my one stop for everything in this game I I wanted to thank you first! You’re awesome! I learned how to fight loot the whole enchilada from you so thank you for that! I play on Xbox I’m feeling a little frustrated I’ve actually gotten very good at the game I’ve been serving up machines all night literally for like four hours and I can’t get my level to go above 19 and then I noticed I went and killed some more walkers and then it dropped down to 17 again I don’t understand what’s going on any help as far as getting up to where I can get the reaper to spawn I would greatly appreciate!
Ah dude i'm glad i could help make that enchilada! For the region level that is something im not too sure about my dude... I haven't heard or had any issues with leveling regions, maybe try leveling another region quick then go back to the first one, it could be a visual bug or it could be a hardstop on region xp, but again im unsure.. for the region losing score, as long as you haven't been killing rivals, then thats a bug thats been reported a few times on the forums and on my channel here! Again, the work around seems to be killing stuff in a different region for a bit then returning to the region you were at, or just focusing on different regions entirely from the first one. It's not a great fix, but i hope it helps!
@@TenebrisInfinite Thanks for the information; no it does help! I had no idea taking out rivals would actually be detrimental to the regional score. So I’m guessing killing rivals having a negative affect on your score is a bug; it certainly sounds like one you would think that that would be the best way to level up a region. Thanks again much appreciated I have gotten to fight the reaper twice since I wrote this with great success but I had joined other peoples games so I definitely want to be able to get to reaper to Spawn when I’m hosting as well.

I just got the Experimental PVG from a tank boss so this will be fun to snipe the reaper >:), also the experimental pump shotty works wonders to " stun " him for easy shots on its back :D
I've also noticed cars that haven't been exploded yet are valid cover for the thermobaric blast, however if you hide behind a car that has already exploded you'll still die if you hide behind it.
The menu of one of my regions said "active rivals 3" and then I counted...I counted 13 rivals in that region. Empty regions read "active rivals 6", but there were none. I hate that.
Hunting tanks, killing all the waves of a harvester before finishing off the harvester and hunting packs of hunters my dude! Aiming for regions with higher level machines (FNIX/apocalypse) also leads to the best region leveling, so farmlands south coast, north coast, marshlands, and himfjal are all the best bets for fast region xp gains :D
Does the fuel air blast damage the Reaper itself after it lost its shields or is it always just the suicide attack? Reaper can take loads of ammo, but given how much I have been forced to drop or dismantle just to make room in my Plundra it won't be much of a problem. Also now I can turn all those .32 and other useless rounds into materials I can craft more useful bullets from.
It's always just the suicide attack that damages it my dude, and yes man this new crafting upgrade is awesome for repurposing ammo, and generally just getting better focus on the ammo you use!
