For anyone without a welder or experience, get a cheapo "flux core" welder. It's like mig and stick had a baby. The wire used has a flux in the middle that adds shielding gas. It's used often in structural steel, but works well for the tubing you'll use here. Nice deep penetration. It's a little messier and you gotta clean the welds, but it's really easy to do, and you can get a machine that'll do flux for about 150, and one that'll do flux, mig, stick, AND Tig (usually lift Tig) for a bit over 200. (on those, you usually gotta get torches with the valve in the torch, but they work)
Thanks you so much. I'm a woodworking guy but so fond of making a go kart just for fun. To be honest I've never tried steel works be it cutting or welding that makes me a little worried, but after watching all your videos I've got more confidence to go ahead with the project. Thanks again. Regards from Malaysia....
@@Depl0rable10 how is it going? I am going to the metal yard to get an idea of how much the frame materials will cost. I am going to make my frame very simple
My first go-cart was back in 1960 ! One safety item is dual return springs for the throttle pedal in different locations. One at the pedal and the other at the engine. My older brother ran that 1960 go-cart under my mom's car when the pedal spring came off. Great videos keep them coming.
I will be cutting my own 3/8 stock for the tie rods. What length should I cut each one to? I didn't know if the measurement is taken with the tie rod ends already installed. Thanks!
Nice kart. Would I be able to buy all of the materials without shopping online, like going to a store and buying them from there even though I live in a different country? If possible could you reply with all the measurements in metric and some stores to get them from? Thanks.
TIP FOR PEOPLE WITHOUT A WELDER. legit did this with a drill, an angle grinder, with the thin wheel and a wire wheel, along with an 8" ratchet, and a 24" ratchet. I used bolts and plates for the joints.
Hey! I just want to say that this video has been very helpful with the the instructions and the links. I now know everything I need to know on how to build a go kart from scratch and what tools I need. Thanks very much!!!
Ive checked Go Power Sports link many times. They are always "out of stock" on most of the parts that are needed, including the above-mentioned kit. It looks like they are going out of business. Is there another supplier that you can recommend?
I want to build this exact go kart but with the 670cc 22hp engine from predator. will that engine work with this build, with the engine mount and everything else?
Hi Me and my brother are wanting to try this build as a little project. We don't have the money to pay for the whole kit in 1 go so will be buying a couple of parts at a time, possibly even just 1 part at a time when needed (this will be a long project for us) however we are from the uk so can't buy the exact parts from the list. So....can you tell me, for the rims for example, can we buy any three 6" rims and one 6" drive wheel with hub? We are complete amateurs so sorry if this is a stupid question lol Hope you can help, thanks
+CHeeMuS please never buy a moving dolly wheel. These are extremely dangerous on a go kart and will break. The tread on them wears out within an hour or two of riding.
How about using an old motorcycle engine from scraps? I was watching your video planning to build a go kart first before turning it into an awesome go kart that look like a racing car
Hello. i understood evrything except one thing . How the power of the engine is send to the wheels . And does the clutch is complicated to install ? Sorry but i know nothing in enginerring

It's not a fix, it's a different kart all together. It's different plans, different parts. The free plans are for a basic one wheel drive go-kart, and I have two sets of live axle plans here for $20 kartfab.com/live-axle-go-kart-plans
+Miguel Martinez yeah, just go to kartfab.com/go-kart-plans and click down on the extras article that goes over the seatbelts. For the roll cage though, you will need to come up with your own.
you can choose front 'springer suspension' when you get the kit, it is part of a drop down. You do not need front brakes on a go kart because it is a go kart. Its complete overkill.

stock, you dont need a lot of power for a drift trike and the harbor freight 212cc engine is perfect stock. Try that out first, and you can always upgrade it later.
+KartFab Okay thanks but if I was to make it with street tires that had traction. Would you say I should get a built up engine? or just remove the speed gov. and oil sensor

Keep looking on line for one that needs repair or an engine, This is often way cheaper and of course easier.
Is there any on stock bcs on the site it says out of stock will it comeback?
how much did you come out of pocket for everything? (excluding labor and tools)?
