One thing I can always count on, is coming to this channel, searching for something specifically, and Andy has an answer. Always.

Loved it! Anyone who has tried to fill a hard-to-fill position knows how much joy finding a qualified candidate who will fit in with the team brings to the hiring manager.

A lot of tech buzzwords. I can’t tell you how many times I just ignore recruiters after a phone call, because they are clueless trying to match my ASP skills to PHP skills

Thank you Andy for changing my perspective about your world! Your channel is really gold! I'm loving everything you're sharing. I'll be a sponge in learning as much as I can from your channel for more information like this. More power!

"Why is the position open" is something I thought was poor form to ask. I'm glad this is available to me.

Not at all Rosa. How you saw what you say is just as important as what you say (or ask). Ask. Always ask.

I ordered the book 😁. The one question I wish I would have asked in the past, was why are you looking to fill this position. Could have saved me from a very unhealthy situation.

Great perspective on the topic! There is something inhuman in considering living people (recruiters) just an obstacle. Thank you for treating that in me!

I have just returned from a largest job fair we have here and I can confirm most of your tips are based on facts and actually work (tested some today, will test the rest tomorrow lol). Thank you so much for sharing the ideas. I will be watching your tomorrow's session :)

Thanks for demystifying recruiters. To me they have always been either another obstacle or they like me but have no say in getting me hired. But what do I know? 160 applications since January, 3 interviews, no hires.

What do you do if you get a text out of the blue from an internal recruiter from a major company (a company you applied to before) and they basically beg you to fill out for their particular branch in that same company? Is this a desperation move on their part? I need some advice.

Never in my 45 years in industry have I seen such a mass proliferation of young folks going into "recruiters" jobs . Unfortunately, these same young people have never experienced a severe employment downturn in their short careers.....in their time, it's always been rosy and good times. Be ready folks.....Headhunters are paid largely on commission. When things go bad (and they are starting to now !) this career will be difficult if not impossible to sustain, especially given the enormous numbers of folks doing the job now.

True. I’ve been working for 32 years. I’ve been an executive recruiter since 2004 and have successfully navigated through the rough years in the wake of the 2007 crash. People that have only been working for the last 10 years or so have never seen anything but prosperity!
