      I'd love a 1000
      I have had my 2005 750 about 6 years (ridden 30,000+ miles)
Mines down while I wait for the fuel pump replacement
And just dropped off the injectors Friday for cleaning and flow testing.
Hopefully putting it all back together coming Friday
      Test ride Saturday 🙏

GSXR has a spot in my heart. Suzuki will approve you for one no matter your credit, great financing, SUPER cheap to buy used, parts are cheap, and for the cost of a Mcdonalds meal you can repair/maintain them.
And since they haven't changed since early 2000's, pick which year that looks best to you and have fun.

Just picked up a used 2017 gsxr 600 a few days ago and its such a fun bike around the street and highway. Came with aftermarket headers and an m4 shorty exhaust and the sound is unreal, makes me smile every time I decelerate and hear it pop. Riding position is very comfortable on the gixxer too, my first ride taking it back home took over an hour but it wasnt a problem for me.

Let's be honest we all admire that GSXR Squid that rips wheelies in places that would make your ass clench, or the turbo Busa guy with 450hp destroying milliondollarcars on the runway(and highway😶‍🌫️).... it is not the smart move but it is still bad ass we just can't publicly endorse it because of our careers and or Children 😂😂....even though it makes us smile 😃😈

You don't need a tune to set the idle and warm up speed. There are 2 screws under the tank at the right hand side, The top one is the secondary throttle actuator and the bottom is the idle speed when the engine is warm. One the engine is warm the fast idle cam closes and you are at normal idle speed. (section 5-24 in the repair manual)

Funny thing is the K5/6 Gsxr1000 is sweet and the premium on them them are understandable but as a ex GSXR1000K4 owner I can say the GSXR1000 K3/4 Gixer is a epick bike that You can pick up for sometimes half of what a K5/6 will ask for! On peper it is only a bit less powerful and I bit heavier. But once set up right it is an absolute gem of a steel! I had a Healtech quickshifter and an exhaust valve servo eliminator. Plus an ECU flash and Hell brale lines plus more aggressive brake pads. The log stroke GSXR engine was torque rich mid range and epick top end. For 3400 pounds in UK. I did track days and Euro trip on it. One bike to do it all!! And it was reliable as nothing else!!

  • @nunyabidness9257

That “first gear problem” looks like the fairly common clutch chatter issue that K5 and K6 1000’s sometimes have. Mine did it from new and it gets worse with age. The good news is that fixing it is cheap and easy-the gixxer forums have a how-to using gsxr
750 parts. Basically it’s a mechanical resonance issue with the springs in the clutch assembly at certain RPMs that allows the clutch stack to slip and grip and make the bike lurch. It feels awful, but you learn to ride around it.
A taller comfort seat is worth it. I have a Bazzaz traction control unit on mine, it works but isn’t very sophisticated like modern systems are-it’s a race aid and not a safety aid. Fortunately, Gripone sells an IMU based system for these bikes and others that will bring the traction, slide, and wheelie control right up to date. The guy who owns Gripone is Diego Gubellini…. He is Marc Marquez’s crew chief, so you might expect it to work well….
Never selling my K5, but I might convert it to a street fighter and put a TTS supercharger on it.

Hi yam, I've been lucky enough to work on quite a few k5/6 1000's, and the engine braking thing isn't a common issue for that bike. Its likely the motion pro throttle causing it, probably poorly adjusted or worn cables that aren't allowing the throttle to close fully without some help. It's showing, what, 9000 miles? And was obviously a track bike like you said, so its gonna have some little issues, nothing terminal though, and nothing k5 specific.

The dying at a stop is probably down it having a power commander, I'm sure yam said it had a dynojet quickshifter, and they're usually an add on into a PC. Being an ex track bike, it's probably had some other nice parts on that have been removed, so its PC tune isn't calibrated right anymore.

I love the fact, that it's just all motor.
They almost need to have a "EUTA" ( ahem "EULA") for "End Users Throttle Awareness". Disclosing the only "safety" in and of the bike itself, is maturity of the twisty thing on the right side handle bar. :D
