Hi Rachel. I mix my seasonings when I don't have my Spanish seasoning. I live getting my stuff inbalk. God Bless you Rachel. Thanks for sharing. Take care. Maria. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
We've been making our own taco seasoning like this for years. It's the best - never once missed the packets from the store. This is so much better! I'll have to try adding the tomato as a thickener. I'd imagine it adds flavor too!
Thank you again for keeping it simple for us newbies. Lots and lots of people trying to learn from you and Todd about sustainability etc. Please keep videos coming to help reinforce our journeys. 😃
I use same ingredients, I make as I go as I cook so many Mexican dishes it doesn't last. This little McCormicks are sometimes shelved for a year or two before in store. Bulk is best yup.
Yay! Homemade Taco Seasoning! I am loving learning about all the different spice blends we can do for ourselves. This year was the first year I grew Oregano & Thyme….when I dried it & put in a jar I was shocked how much brighter green it was compared to the store bought one….so I went to the grocery store & the same thing my fresh dried one was still brighter than a new bottle! Fresh IS Best! Thank you for all you share!
I make my own taco seasoning which I use for all my Mexican recipes so I call it All-purpose Mexican seasoning. I never thought to add tomato powder. I am going to add that to my jar (and recipe.) great idea!!!!!!
I buy what I can find at Ollie's in the big bulk containers as well. The salt free mixes are great and not having to buy pepper all the time is awesome. I agree with the "never the same way twice "motto but a basic recipe is great too. Thanks Rachel for sharing with us.
Thanks for the recipe Rachel. I've not been able to watch all the channels I love due to lack of time recently, but I will catch up soon. Blessings to your channel and family!!! Willette
I love the green onion powder idea! That is a great way to use the greens. I will definitely do that next year. My taco seasoning is different each time also.
I've been buying bulk spices since the early 2000s from Atlantic Spice company. I,too, save and reuse my jars. Also, here in Florida I vacuum seal my dehydrated onions and onion powder to keep it from clumping into a rock. I make my own blends also after wanting to make blackened pork chops and the seasoning was 4.00 for a tiny container. I came home, looked up a recipe and made it myself!
Yum! We used some of my brown sugar bbq rub today from the 1/2 gallon jar I made several months ago. It is awesome using our own and I will definitely be making my own taco seasoning. It sounds really good.
I have a Bay Laurel tree. I use fresh all the time. I have started to dry some for friends, but that tree is an evergreen so I think it should last in your weather. I make all my own spice blends and dehydrate my herbs from the garden. I am allergic to cumin and it sucks! So I have been substituting ground coriander not the same but you do what you have to.
👍🏻Thanks to talented creators like you I don’t think I will ever run out of new recipes to try. Great video! I am happy I found your channel it has so much to offer. I make TH-cam cooking videos too! I love learning new things from talented creators like you!! I’d love to learn more from you!
Appreciate you sharing your recipe. There are lots of recipes out there. We have several shaker bottle spices from Frontier Co-op and use their Herbs de Provence when canning ham & bean soup. ~Kate
Very cool. I like to make my own taco seasoning too. The store bought stuff can have so much sodium and other stuff you may not want in it. Plus making your own, gets older spices used up, and make room for fresh.
I started making my own taco seasoning a few years ago, and I'll never go back to store-bought. Aside from cumin & black pepper I grow most of the ingredients myself...onion powder, garlic powder, coriander, pepper flakes...all from my garden. Like you I also go heavy on the cumin in my mix, because to me it wouldn't be proper Mexican seasoning without a healthy dose of cumin. I also did a clean sweep of my spice cupboard, dumped out ancient tasteless stuff that had been taking up space far too long. All those empty spice jars got cleaned & repurposed. For labels I just use painters tape & a sharpie.
I bought an AeroGarden and am growing some herbs. I have been dehydrating them as they grow and hope to replace a lot of my spices this way. Thank you for sharing!
Lol funny I had planned on having tacos tonight and then I looked and had no taco seasoning packets . So was switching to spaghetti lol but now I’m going to try and make my own seasoning:) thank you
I've tried this in the past but prefer bought mix. It has thickener in it which I really like and to me it tasted like chilli not tacos. But now I have clear jel so maybe I'll try it with that!
I am new here and love your videos! Haven't had tacos in over a year now as beef prices have been too high to purchase. But when we can have them again, I will definitely do your spice mix for the seasoning. Thank you for sharing and thanks for inspiring us. 💕
Thank you! Our grocery stores only have the little packets of crappy brands, they've been out of taco seasoning for awhile now. Will be trying this tonight 🌮
It was a success! I used regular onion powder (since I didn’t make my own this year) + I ground up some pepper flakes with the coriander and sifted it (since my food processor is a joke) and I added a little extra of the seasoning + 1/2tsp garlic salt with parsley to my ground beef with a pepperoni and ALL my picky eaters at well tonight. I appreciate you sharing your recipes ✨
I love that sweater it is so cute. I need to find me a new one. Love your videos! I do make my own taco and seasoning salt. If I need any others I will just make them as I need them.
Thank You so much Rachael for sharing your recipe for Taco seasoning, definitely making this. We are so blessed to have you sharing all your videos and still learning so much in my old age. Never to old to learn something new. 😉✝️💟
I really need to get some of this mixed up. I tell myself I'm going to do this all the time and I don't. I just continue to get all the spice jars out and put it into the hamburger. Having this made up would be so much easier. I add chili powder and plenty of cumin powder to mine as well. I've never added the cardamom or oregano to it before. In fact I just recently bought cardamom, I think to make something else you did a video on, but still haven't used it. LOL
Please don’t take this the wrong way. The one I have was my grandpa’s. When he passed away I kept a few of his jackets, and this one I just fell in love with. I kept watching your video all giddy because of your sweater, then I had to watch it again for the content! Love your channel, your content is top notch!
I usually use the taco seasoning recipe from the magnolia table book but I am curious to see what u do. I actually need to make some for my big container. It's empty.
I love making my own seasoning when I can. I have saved so many little jars, I should really get rid of some. 😂 Your, “Rachel’s Taco seasoning “ sounds really good. Next time I’m gonna remember this and make your recipe. I made a fire cider this year, had lots of tumeric and ginger and other items. I dried all the solid out and ground it up to use in soups etc.thank you Rachel for an awesome recipe
Thank you soo much for sharing your recipe with us! I cannot wait to put this together, as we use a lot of taco seasoning here. I'm sorry you got attacked by the pepper. Happens to me all the time. Eeck! Much ❤️
I just did the same Bay Leaf mistake, along with parsley. I think I have now enough of these two things to last generations. 😂 I was shocked at how big the bags were.
I am curious, have you ever grown your own paprika peppers? There is a catalog called Totally Tomatoes that has the seed to plant paprika peppers. My husband grew them for me and dehydrated them and ground them. It will clump, but easily breaks apart with a fork for use.
I tried dehydrating some of my seasonings, like celery, parsley, onion, and basil but they didn't come out well, I think I over-dried them. What is the proper temp and time for these things ??
TRUTH about the bulk seasoning shocker-when I ordered a pound of bay leaves from Frontier, I thought my kids' kids were going to have bay leaves until they were 50 😂! But, I do appreciate the value ordering bulk spices and seasonings from places like Frontier Co-op, or your local amish or mennonite stores provides for our large family!
Hi Rachel. I mix my seasonings when I don't have my Spanish seasoning. I live getting my stuff inbalk. God Bless you Rachel. Thanks for sharing. Take care. Maria. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
I am loving the seasoning mixes. It taste so much better when you do it yourself.
Thank you for sharing. I was one of the people who asked for the recipe. Much appreciated!

Love home-made TACO seasoning!!!
I make my own taco seasoning which I use for all my Mexican recipes so I call it All-purpose Mexican seasoning. I never thought to add tomato powder. I am going to add that to my jar (and recipe.) great idea!!!!!!
Makes me want tacos or burritos!
I love the idea of tomato powder. Must make that!
Awesome! Thank you for sharing. I have been dehydrating everything I grow. I do believe I could do this!
It’s awesome to make homemade taco mix that way you know what is going into your food! Thank you for sharing!
I want to dehydrate green onions this year. They are so yummy! Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Thank you Rachel for the simple recipes for this. Been waiting it for awhile. Thanks for keeping it simple too. God bless.
Thanks for the recipe Rachel. I've not been able to watch all the channels I love due to lack of time recently, but I will catch up soon. Blessings to your channel and family!!!

This sounds great.. for me a big breakthrough in the quest for the perfect taco has been homemade Ancho powder. Lovely sweater Rachel
Thanks so much for sharing Rachel! Yummy and oh so good for those special recipes.
I love cumin also, really bumps the flavor up in anything!
I have had an acct with Frontier since 1980. Great company
Thanks for sharing Rachel. You have become my top 3 channels if not my #1 top channel. ❤️❤️❤️
I love the green onion powder idea! That is a great way to use the greens. I will definitely do that next year. My taco seasoning is different each time also.
Thanks for sharing a basic recipe that can be adjusted to our own likes. 👍🥰
The green onion powder is so beautiful compared to regular onion powder! I’ll have to make some this year ❤️
Love your sweater and I will start making my own taco seasoning thank you ❤️
I've been buying bulk spices since the early 2000s from Atlantic Spice company. I,too, save and reuse my jars. Also, here in Florida I vacuum seal my dehydrated onions and onion powder to keep it from clumping into a rock.

Thanks for sharing. I am glad to hear of a good company for spices.
Yum! We used some of my brown sugar bbq rub today from the 1/2 gallon jar I made several months ago. It is awesome using our own and I will definitely be making my own taco seasoning. It sounds really good.
I love a cumin too! I always add more than a recipe calls for!
I buy frontier herbs too and the ones like bay leaves and other fluffy herbs , I nicknamed pillowcase herbs. Thanks for the recipe.

Thank you for sharing Rachel 🙏🏽 ❤️
Frontier is great! Their 1lb. bags of herbs and spices are a great value...
Thank you! Another variation for my seasonings
We started with Alton Brown's #9 and made changes. The green onion and tomato powder made the world of difference. Play around and make it your own!
Thank you. Will be making this.
Appreciate you sharing your recipe. There are lots of recipes out there. We have several shaker bottle spices from Frontier Co-op and use their Herbs de Provence when canning ham & bean soup. ~Kate
I made green onion powder last summer after watching your video--it's great!
Could you please tell me how to make the green onion powder
Very cool. I like to make my own taco seasoning too. The store bought stuff can have so much sodium and other stuff you may not want in it. Plus making your own, gets older spices used up, and make room for fresh.

I absolutely love cumin too. I always add extra in my chicken enchilada soup.
This is a wonderful video. It’s nice to be able to make your own. I have a hard time figuring what spices go together. This is great for me.
Thank you I am going to try this recipe. I just found your channel recently and I really enjoy your videos. Blessings!
She and Todd are great at explaining.
Very similar to what I use sans the tomato powder. I really like the idea of using tomato powder and will be adding it to mine. Thank you for sharing.
I bought an AeroGarden and am growing some herbs. I have been dehydrating them as they grow and hope to replace a lot of my spices this way. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Rachel. Good blend.
Definitely going to do your recipe. Thx for sharing.
Thanks for doing this, I was hoping you do a video on this. Going to can beans this weekend. Love your back to basic videos.
Thank you for this, I haven't tried buying bulk yet, but I have been drying my own herbs.
I've tried this in the past but prefer bought mix. It has thickener in it which I really like and to me it tasted like chilli not tacos. But now I have clear jel so maybe I'll try it with that!
I like the Fuego recipe from Chevys. My daughter and I share herbs and spices so we can make our own mixes
I am new here and love your videos! Haven't had tacos in over a year now as beef prices have been too high to purchase. But when we can have them again, I will definitely do your spice mix for the seasoning. Thank you for sharing and thanks for inspiring us. 💕

Great way to help get rid of excess sodium, thank you!
I did the exact same thing with bay leaves. I'll never run out!

Rachel this is great. Do you have a video for Spanish rice seasoning?
Thank you soo much for sharing your recipe with us! I cannot wait to put this together, as we use a lot of taco seasoning here. I'm sorry you got attacked by the pepper. Happens to me all the time. Eeck! Much ❤️
Averting my eyes in shame to glance toward the cupboard with my 1# bag of bay leaves.... 🤣
Thank you for the recipe

Love this!! Thank you! ❤️
I can smell the great spice flavoring now😂

I just did the same Bay Leaf mistake, along with parsley. I think I have now enough of these two things to last generations. 😂 I was shocked at how big the bags were.
Forget the seasoning I love your jacket. 😜😂
Thank you for sharing, I am like you I love my Cumin.
I am curious, have you ever grown your own paprika peppers? There is a catalog called Totally Tomatoes that has the seed to plant paprika peppers. My husband grew them for me and dehydrated them and ground them. It will clump, but easily breaks apart with a fork for use.
Do you have in one of your videos how to make the green onion powder
I make taco seasoning similar, but add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, which I hate on its own, but it really brings other flavors forward.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! :-)
I really love your cardy
I tried dehydrating some of my seasonings, like celery, parsley, onion, and basil but they didn't come out well, I think I over-dried them. What is the proper temp and time for these things ??

Do you have a trick on growing onions ? I'm in Kalkaska county and have a very hard time with them and garlic, HELP! Thanks for sharing. God bless.
Yes we have several on how to grow onions ❤️

I have just discovered green chili powder, wonder if that would take the flavor off or not.
