I had a brain storm on this recipe! You could replace the white chocolate chips with peanut butter chips or chocolate mint chips, butterscotch chips and I think Walmart sells pumpkin chips and a cinnamon chips during the holiday season.
Very close to how I make it but I add some heavy cream powder instead of part of the milk powder to make it a little more rich. Sometimes some teeny dried marshmallows, sometimes chocolate chips instead of white chips. I love to add this mix to a cup of coffee to make a mocha too. Have some grandkids that don't like coffee so don't add it to the mix.
The individual bags would be perfect for teachers or coworkers with a cute mug, candy cane and a cute tag.
I need to try this. I have everything but the dried milk. Chopping up candy canes to add would be good too.
Rachel you totally inspired me with this series and anyone who didn’t enjoy it is a SCROOGE! Hehe I made a wonderful coconut oil sugar scrub. One scented with lavender and one with tangerine. I did a “garden in a pot.” Seeds from Luke at MIGardener, gloves, trowel & spade. I actually had a couple tall ish 6 inch pots and put the goodies in the pots. Turned out super cute. I also made some edible goodies of peanut butter fudge, potato candy, cookies and our family favorite and tradition, crunchy fudge sandwiches. Now I’m going to go make your cocoa mix!!!! It’ll be perfect to add with my sweet treat bundles. I was also plotting on some yummy add ins already too, like maybe a bit of cinnamon or maybe nutmeg, a few of the tiny cocoa marshmallows? Idk but I’ll probably make two batches, one just as you did and one with an add in or two. LOL I always make a new recipe just how the creator did it because I want to experience it just as you do before or if I ever tweak anything. I just really want to say thank you and wish you and Todd and your family a very Merry Christmas! God Bless ~Lisa
I love how you don’t need to measure anything. My head would blow up if I did that. I’m not good at just looking and dumping, I even slice bread crooked and had to buy a thingy for getting even slices. What a gal!
Okay after watching all your wonderful Christmas cooking and goodies I am moving in with you. 🎄☕️
So glad to see you are feeling better!
Thank you for starting off my day like this. Have a wonderful day.

This is already a household favorite and I am making another batch today. Thank you for a great gift idea and video as always~! HAPPY HOLIDAYS from our tiny homestead to yours~!
Thank you for sharing this. Been on the hunt for a HOT cocoa mix to make my kids.
Nice idea. I'd prefer a jar with instructions though to reduce plastic waste. ☕
Thank you for sharing. Never thought about putting chocolate chips in it! Have to remember that the next time I make some!
Have you ever thought of adding a few mini-marshmallows into those single serving sized bags of cocoa? Might be worth a try. Would be extra yummy!!
Sounds delish Rachel!!
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year's
Can't wait to try.
I am going to make this for my tomorrow. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the idea. We are looking to put some special gifts together and hot chocolate is a great gift.
There’s nothing better than homemade cocoa on a cold winter day! Thanks for sharing. We love mixing cocoa mix in a cup of hot coffee for a mocha treat. Merry Christmas 🎄
I've got everything to make these! I even had dehydrated marshmallows to add to the individual packages! Cute idea with a Christmas mug for a gift!
Thanks so much. Hubs will love it. Merry Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!🕊🎄🎁 🎄🛍
That looks like the very best cocoa mix recipe I have ever seen. Thank You for sharing!
I make a cold brew with your recipe thank you
I literally said out loud “ha Rachel they were already bite sized “ 😂😂
OMG it looks so delicious in the warm on a cold winters night thank you for sharing happy holidays
Hope you're feeling better.
Sounds yummy! I've discovered a homemade chai tea latte mix that I am really enjoying. I know the spices aren't for everyone but I am loving it with milk. I will need to give this a try. Where did you find the single serving self stick baggies. Those would work perfectly to give my mix away too.😊
Thank u for sharing...i have made ur cakes in jars for Christmas gifts
My kids can't have dairy, I'm thinking I should try this with some powdered coconut milk! :D
Could you perhaps put together a play list of recipes for Christmas and gift giving? I had to hunt forever to find this recipe and I know there are other mixes you made for Christmas. Also recall cookies.
That is so sweet. Merry Christmas y'all 💕
That is cool making this
Thank you for sharing

Can you share where you purchased those cute little bags? Adorable!! And do you think you could cajole your neighbor for the iced oatmeal cookie recipe? I have wanted one like this for years and can't find it!!
Just made up another batch!!! Stepdaughter came over and said "oh my...that is awesome!" Guess what she's getting for Christmas??? #nomoreprocessedfoods!!!
Hello. That1870'sHomestead. Hey. Rachel, you look so good. Does that mean you are well. Thank god you look so well to do your video. I love your video of making hot chocolate. You are so wonderful. God Bless, wishing you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Maria.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Looks like you’re feeling better?! I’ve been thinking about you... 🙏🏽
You could put a couple marshmallows in each baggie
Linda from Ct
Wow, yummy.... Hope you are feeling better, not sure how your videos get done.
Thank you
when using the dry milk powder, can the mixture be added to hot water or is using some kind of milk necessary? Just curious 😊
Do you have a link for the little baggies you used? If not, do you know what size they are?
Can you put what’s in the bag in an ornament? Maybe have room for marshmallows ?
I've wanted to make this kind of mix for a long time, just haven't ever gotten around to it. I'm not a tea/coffee drinker, but some cold days just call for something hot to warm ya up from the inside.
I tried looked on your Amazon link but didn't see the little baggies you just used for the single serve portions....but did find some by just searching. What size did you use?
Thank you in advance
❤
Rachel
Do you have a homemade dry
Ranch dressing mix to make at home ?
Linda from Ct
If you would vaccuum seal it would it last longer
Can I replace white chocolate chips to chocolate powder
I about jumped thru the screen to join you! haha. I will try this. What size are the bags please? Did you get them from 'Clear Bags.com? Thanks so much for sharing. You make such fun and cool stuff! :)
What size were your little bags
Just looked up the powdered milk they are out of stock and do not know when it will be back
If you turn the food processor on and pour the chocolate chips through the chute it will chop them smaller so they mix more evenly.
I make 3 different flavours of dry mix for my Mum for Mother’s Day each year. She loves it.
I have been looking for dried milk with no success. We’re are you purchasing your dry ingredients.
We've had the dry milk for a while and store it in the freezer, but almost all our dry ingredients are purchased off Amazon
I don't understand why it's only shelf stable for 1-2 months? It's just all powder.
I dehydrated mini marshmallows for hot cocoa....omgosh it's a game changer! They stay the same size and are like lucky charms. Looks so yummy!
As I started reading this my mind thought of lucky charms. Did you use a dehydrator or did you do low and slow in the oven?
Its one of our families favorites to dehydrate. They are great for hot cocoa mix if you can stop snacking on them 😋
We dehydrated the little mini peppermint marshmallows last year. They were really good.
I found a big bag of lucky charms or like dehydrated marshmallows at Rural King. Grandbabies would love.
We do the same thing. They last all winter. I use the food save to remove the air and seal them tight and then we just have a jar open all winter for cereal, cocoa or anything the grandkids like them in. It's a gamechanger.
